Raye praises 'amazing' Lola Young after technical glitch left her in tears

After shooting to fame last year with her hit single, Lola Young just made her Capital Summertime Ball debut – but it was a little, well, messy.
The 24-year-old singer was all smiles as she walked on stage at Wembley Stadium in London, but was reduced to floods of tears backstage.
Lola wasn't the only one having difficulties this year, as Jade went viral for claiming she was blocked from singing her new release.
While the Little Mix star fought her battles off stage, Lola was left to face the music on stage – literally – as a technical fault derailed her short set.
During her biggest track, Messy, her earpiece stopped working, forcing her to ask fans for help as she tried to claw back the performance.
Now, the iconic Raye has shared some words of wisdom and praised the 'amazing' Lola for fighting through the 'impossible' situation.
Commenting on a TikTok of the singer in tears, Raye explained: 'Sound travel[s] slowly, especially across a venue this big.
'Like a 3 second difference from it coming out of speakers to reaching the other side of the stadium, without in ears or a floor monitor, it is almost impossible to sing in time or pitch yourself !!'
The seven-time Brit Award winner added: 'Lola you're doing amazing! So proud of you.'
On Sunday, the 80,000 capacity venue watched as Lola, who is the niece of Gruffalo author Julia Donaldson, struggled to keep time during Messy. @bdjdksksm

'Sorry guys, my ears are going in and out,' Lola explained before shouting for tech support and asking, 'Can I get some new ears?'
The fault threw off her timing with the band but she was determined to continue, telling fans to 'sing along please'.
It seemed the issue wasn't being resolved, with Lola declaring, 'It's like they're doing it on purpose' before walking off stage as the song ended.
TikToker and gig-goer Bdjdksksm caught sight of her after the set, crying to her crew as they attempted to calm her down.
Fans commented supportive messages across social media, including Charlie Puth, who wrote on Instagram: 'She's pitch perfect even without hearing herself that is impressive !!! She did a great job.'
Host Sian Welby said: 'An absolute professional 🙌🙌🙌 nothing but respect for that performance ❤️.'
Capital's official Instagram page shared a clip of the error, with the caption: '@lolayounggg gave it EVERYTHING like a true professional.'
She wasn't alone in technical faults, though, as Zara Larsson's microphone cut out while on stage as well as a 20-minute delay in the live stream. More Trending
This is also the second time Lola has been plagued with issues at a festival as she was forced to run off stage after feeling like she was going to vomit while performing at Coachella.
Explaining what happened, she wrote: 'i was nervous guys and it was 40 bloody degrees. Im back today, same time, same tent love ya x.'
As with any live production, things can go wrong but Zara and Lola proved the show must – and can – go on.
Hopefully, Lola's Glastonbury debut later this month goes off without a hitch.

Lizzo says she tried Ozempic amid weight loss journey
Lizzo shared new details about her recent weight loss journey and got real about weight-loss drugs in a new appearance on the 'Just Trish' podcast, hosted by internet personality Trisha Paytas. When Paytas asked the 37-year-old pop star if she's ever experimented with weight-loss drugs, Lizzo replied: 'I've tried everything. It's just the science for me: calories in, versus calories out. Ozempic works because you eat less food. That's it. It makes you feel full. So if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it's the same.' Lizzo previously addressed rumors that she used Ozempic to lose weight in an Instagram post in September 2024, explaining that she'd been focusing on 'weight training and calorie deficit.' In the podcast episode, the 'Truth Hurts' singer went on to reveal that she really started to lose weight once she scaled back on her vegan lifestyle. 'When I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats,' she recalled. 'I was eating a lot of bread. I was eating a lot of rice. And I had to eat a lot of it to stay full. But really, I was consuming like 3,000 to 5,000 calories a day.' 'We live in a society that makes super calorically dense food and they hide it,' she continued. 'So you're eating something that's small and you think, 'Oh yeah this is a healthy little protein bar.' It'll be like 300 calories and filled with all this fake sugar and weird s--- that f---- you up on the inside that you're not even aware of. Then you'd still be hungry.' Protein bars and fake meats are two foods often considered health foods but can actually be unhealthy, dietitian Collin Popp, Ph.D., previously told Lizzo added that eating more 'whole foods' and meats, such as beef, chicken and fish, was a game changer for her health because she was no longer eating 'a lot of like fake things ... that wasn't actually filling me up.' While Lizzo has found success with this particular approach, she emphasized that there's no one-size-fits-all weight-loss method. 'I don't like to tell people too much about releasing weight, like what I did, because I don't want people to do what I did and it doesn't work for them,' she said. 'Everybody's body is different. So I don't know if GLP-1 might be the only thing that works for you because I don't know what your blood work is like. I don't know how your body breaks down food (and) sugar. I don't know. But I know for me I just had to start eating meat again.' While appearing on the 'Just Trish' podcast, the star also explained that she was motivated to lose weight after experiencing back pain. 'My back was in such a bad place where I couldn't stand for more than like 15 minutes at a time. I had to sit down and do figure 4s and stretch my back out during dance rehearsal for tour,' she said. She'd also have to stretch her back while changing outfits between songs and do a cold plunge 'immediately' after each show since her back was 'radiating so much pain.' The singer noted that the discomfort stemmed from compressed discs in her back. 'The only way to really alleviate that is surgery or releasing a little bit of weight. So I was like, I want to be Tina Turner. I want to be doing stadium shows when I'm 70. If my back is on this track right now, there's no way I'm going to be able to do that without serious surgery. So that was my decision,' she said.

Jesy Nelson shares sweet insight into her life as a new mum as she posts snaps with newborn twins after finally coming home from hospital
Jesy Nelson has shared a sweet insight into her life as a new mum as she posted adorable pictures with her newborn twins on Friday. The former Little Mix singer, 34, and rapper Zion Foster, 26, welcomed their first children, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, in May after suffering months of complications. And appearing every inch the doting mother, the star looks to have settled into motherhood well as she posted an array of family pictures to Instagram. In one snap, Jesy can be seen cuddling one of her babies as they slept on her chest. Zion also appeared to enjoy fatherhood as he was seen entertaining the little ones with a fun dance. Another snap saw one of the newborn resting in a singular hand while wrapped up in a white baby grow. Alongside the snaps, Jesy penned: 'Have never ever felt more lucky and blessed in my whole entire life.' Her updates comes days after she revealed she is finally home with her newborn twins after three months in hospital. Jesy took to social media to share the major update with her fans. She simply wrote: 'My babies made it home for my birthday.' Fans were left delighted by the milestone, and flooded Jesy with compliments and well wishes. Ocean Jade and Story Monroe were born at just 31 weeks old, after Jesy was diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) - a rare condition that can put one or both babies at risk. Before being released from hospital the twins had been receiving treatment in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Jesy recently opened up about their premature births, telling fans: 'Nothing or no one will ever be able to prepare you as a parent for NICU. 'It's the most scary overwhelming feeling of emotions not being able to feel like you can protect your babies. 'Naturally as a mother you just want to hold them and comfort them when they cry but you can't because there are what feels like a million wires coming out of them and tubes and masks in the way with people poking and prodding them it breaks your heart into a million pieces. 'Having them reunited for the first time ever today was the most magical feeling I will never be able to describe. The strongest little girls I've ever known who really do have the most inspiring story to tell'. In March, Jesy had to undergo an emergency procedure after suffering complications and was advised to remain in hospital until she was at least 32 weeks into her pregnancy. Throughout the ordeal, her partner Zion admitted he and Jesy, who was seven months pregnant at the time of her procedure, had ' grown to understand each other on a deeper level '. He told OK!: 'I think it's at these times when you really, really know what love you have and what your relationship means. 'And I think for me and Jess, this has just taken it to a whole other level of us knowing we are literally made for each other.' He said the couple had also tried to make the hospital as much of a home as possible. 'There's a couch that turns into a bed that we pushed next to the hospital bed, so we've made our own double bed. 'And it's like we've moved in. The nurses just said, "Oh, my God. It looks so nice in here. It looks so homely".' Jesy announced she was expecting twins with her boyfriend Zion back in January after rumours they had split. Originally from South London, Zion was born and raised in a Nigerian household by his mother and grew up listening to Gospel music. It was his football coach who then introduced the star to rap influences as he began listening to Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Usher. Zion then decided to pursue music as he began recording his own music and sharing it online via SoundCloud.
