Lizzo says she tried Ozempic amid weight loss journey

NBC News4 hours ago

Lizzo shared new details about her recent weight loss journey and got real about weight-loss drugs in a new appearance on the 'Just Trish' podcast, hosted by internet personality Trisha Paytas.
When Paytas asked the 37-year-old pop star if she's ever experimented with weight-loss drugs, Lizzo replied: 'I've tried everything. It's just the science for me: calories in, versus calories out. Ozempic works because you eat less food. That's it. It makes you feel full. So if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it's the same.'
Lizzo previously addressed rumors that she used Ozempic to lose weight in an Instagram post in September 2024, explaining that she'd been focusing on 'weight training and calorie deficit.'
In the podcast episode, the 'Truth Hurts' singer went on to reveal that she really started to lose weight once she scaled back on her vegan lifestyle.
'When I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats,' she recalled. 'I was eating a lot of bread. I was eating a lot of rice. And I had to eat a lot of it to stay full. But really, I was consuming like 3,000 to 5,000 calories a day.'
'We live in a society that makes super calorically dense food and they hide it,' she continued. 'So you're eating something that's small and you think, 'Oh yeah this is a healthy little protein bar.' It'll be like 300 calories and filled with all this fake sugar and weird s--- that f---- you up on the inside that you're not even aware of. Then you'd still be hungry.'
Protein bars and fake meats are two foods often considered health foods but can actually be unhealthy, dietitian Collin Popp, Ph.D., previously told TODAY.com.
Lizzo added that eating more 'whole foods' and meats, such as beef, chicken and fish, was a game changer for her health because she was no longer eating 'a lot of like fake things ... that wasn't actually filling me up.'
While Lizzo has found success with this particular approach, she emphasized that there's no one-size-fits-all weight-loss method.
'I don't like to tell people too much about releasing weight, like what I did, because I don't want people to do what I did and it doesn't work for them,' she said.
'Everybody's body is different. So I don't know if GLP-1 might be the only thing that works for you because I don't know what your blood work is like. I don't know how your body breaks down food (and) sugar. I don't know. But I know for me I just had to start eating meat again.'
While appearing on the 'Just Trish' podcast, the star also explained that she was motivated to lose weight after experiencing back pain.
'My back was in such a bad place where I couldn't stand for more than like 15 minutes at a time. I had to sit down and do figure 4s and stretch my back out during dance rehearsal for tour,' she said.
She'd also have to stretch her back while changing outfits between songs and do a cold plunge 'immediately' after each show since her back was 'radiating so much pain.'
The singer noted that the discomfort stemmed from compressed discs in her back.
'The only way to really alleviate that is surgery or releasing a little bit of weight. So I was like, I want to be Tina Turner. I want to be doing stadium shows when I'm 70. If my back is on this track right now, there's no way I'm going to be able to do that without serious surgery. So that was my decision,' she said.

Woman breaks down in tears at 'uncomfortable' sex party with boyfriend

A woman who asked her boyfriend for an open relationship has broken down in tears at a sex party on Channel 4's controversial new show. Tonight's latest instalment of Open House: The Great Sex Experiment sees newly married couple Sharmayne, 26, and Jamie, 29, from Essex push the boundaries in their relationship. The pair can be seen heading to their first social event to see whether they can find anyone suitable to join them in their open relationship. After speaking as a couple to some of the people in the Open House, the pair then split up and mingle individually. However, moments after Sharmayne sees Jamie flirting with other women, she grabs his arm and tells him that she wants to 'step out'. As the pair walk outside, drawing some suspicious looks from the other guests, Sharmayne tells Jamie: 'I just feel overwhelmed. It's just a bit much for me, the whole situation.' After Jamie replies: 'We're not obligated to do anything. This is our journey,' Sharmayne can be seen getting visibly upset before she says: 'I'm just uncomfortable.' Moments after, she begins to wipe away tears from her eyes as Jamie asks: 'Where do we go from here?' After Sharmayne says 'I don't know', she adds: 'I don't know if I'm going to be able to hold myself together now. 'I really don't want to do it. I just want to go home.' This comes after a man vomited after agreeing to let his partner sleep with another man on the show. Couple Tom and Lauren appeared on the new reality series on June 13 after agreeing to take things to another level in the bedroom after a candid discussion with non-monogamy expert Effy Blue. Afterwards, Lauren was seen reassuring Tom, adding to the camera that it was 'absolutely insane' to see him with the 'confidence' for them to have their individual fun before reuniting at the end of the night. The camera then panned to Tom rushing to the bathroom to vomit, telling Lauren it was 'going to be horrible' and that he felt 'absolutely petrified and sick' as she tried to comfort him. Following a strong reaction to the turn of events, Tom and Lauren took to social media to address viewers. On their shared Instagram story they answered a series of questions about threesomes in the bedroom. When asked if they would do a 'two male, one female' threesome, they replied: 'It's certainly something we would consider.' Another asked if they would 'play with' him and his wife and they explained: 'never say never' but they would 'want to build a connection first'. One fan asked what their 'first time' was like to which they said it was 'awkward and tense'. 'We were both nervous but learned a lot and loved it,' they added. More Trending To others they recommended swinging apps and confirmed they don't have any 'parties' in the schedule yet. 'What did you learn the most on the show,' one person asked, to which they said: 'Communication between the two of us, even the little things, and Tom learned to love the body he's in.' Open House is certainly not the first time Channel 4 has aired a provocative show, after their recent series Virgin Island, which left viewers gobsmacked and uncomfortable as 12 'adult virgins' were sent on a sex retreat. Jesy Nelson 'never felt more lucky' as she shares sweet snaps of twin daughters

Former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson welcomed her twins on 18 May but only got to take them home last week after they spent some time in the NICU Jesy Nelson admits she's 'never felt more lucky in her life' as she shared snaps of her newborn babies with fans on social media. The former Little Mix singer, who struggled with a difficult pregnancy, revealed last week that her baby twins arrived back at her home for the first time after she welcomed them on 18 May. In a sweet update shared on Instagram, Jesy shared a carousel of snaps and videos of her daughters, Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster, with whom she shares a partner, Zion Foster. She posted pictures of them looking cosy, wrapped up in towels, as well as a video of Zion dancing with one of their babies. ‌ ‌ Jesy also shared numerous snaps of her babies lying on her chest and a snap of them enjoying a sunny day while sleeping in a pram. "Have never ever felt more lucky and blessed in my whole entire life," the singer captioned the wholesome post. Friends and fans rushed to the comment section to share their love for the couple and their newborn babies, with influencer Luke Hamnett writing: "Gorgeous gorgeous family." "You deserve every moment and enjoy every feeling beautiful momma," Safiyya Vorajee commented and one fan added: "You're a beauty human. You deserve such beautiful miracles." In May, Jesy delighted fans when she revealed her children had arrived "healthy and fighting strong" after arriving prematurely. She also recently shared her experience with the girls in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). She wrote in an online post: "Nothing or no one will ever be able to prepare you as a parent for NICU. ‌ "It's the most scary overwhelming feeling of emotions not being able to feel like you can protect your babies. Naturally as a mother you just want to hold them and comfort them when they cry but you can't because there are what feels like a million wires coming out of them. "Tubes and masks in the way with people poking and prodding them, it breaks your heart into a million pieces. "But slowly as the days go by and they get stronger and wires start to come away, moments like this feel like a dream." ‌ The Black Magic singer shared her happiness over the fact her children were reunited together following treatment. She explained: "Having them reunited for the first time ever today was the most magical feeling I will never be able to describe. The strongest little girls I've ever known who really do have the most inspiring story to tell."

Kieran Trippier marriage update after England star addressed Chloe Ferry rumours

Kieran Trippier, who has been married to wife Charlotte since 2016, is reportedly set to divorce just days after the Newcastle United defender was pictured with Chloe Ferry They think it's all over - it is now! Kieran Trippier and his estranged wife are reportedly ready to start divorce proceedings, just days on from the Newcastle United defender being spotted looking cosy with reality TV star Chloe Ferry. Earlier this week, Trippier, 34, took to Instagram to address rumours after being seen with the Geordie Shore star. The England international, who has 54 caps, shared with his followers that he's moving forward after parting ways with his wife and the mother of his two children, Charlotte. ‌ And it's now been claimed that there is apparently no chance of a reconciliation as sources close to Charlotte claim she has been seeking legal advice and "keen to move on with her life." ‌ "Kieran is a devoted dad, but as a partner, it hasn't worked out as Charlotte had hoped," the insider told The Sun. "She has moved house and started anew, so getting a divorce has been the next logical step. Charlotte wants to keep things as amicable as possible with Kieran." The Mirror has approached Trippier for comment on this story. Writing on Instagram on Wednesday night, the footballer told fans: "Myself and Charlotte separated over a year ago. I have not commented previously as it is a private matter, and we want to protect our children. We ask the media to respect our privacy in the same way." Trippier, who transferred to Newcastle from Atlético Madrid last year, was recently spotted at the renowned Ibiza club Ushuaia getting cosy with Chloe, 29, known for her stint on Geordie Shore since 2015. Last May, video footage surfaced showing Trippier hoisting 27-year-old blonde call centre worker, Frankie Carmichael, at Cosy Joes, a karaoke bar in Newcastle. Subsequent images captured months later revealed the defender without his wedding ring at a train station. This May, the Magpies' defender was again snapped alongside another blonde during a night out in Newcastle. ‌ Kieran and the England footballer tied the knot in 2016 in Cyprus. Despite typically keeping a low profile, Charlotte once referred to herself as "a princess who has found her prince." Amidst whispers of marital troubles last year, the couple's lavish £3.8million family abode was put up for sale. In contrast, Chloe Ferry, known for her stint on Geordie Shore, hasn't walked down the aisle before, despite a lengthy three-year romance with fellow cast member Sam Gowland. Their relationship ended in 2020 after Sam had departed from the show, but Chloe continues to be a fan favourite. Hailing from Newcastle, she also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2017 but faced eviction just a week into the show. ‌ The details of how Chloe and Trippier crossed paths remain a mystery. Trippier has been a fixture at Newcastle, clocking in close to 100 matches since his 2022 transfer under manager Eddie Howe, who he previously played for at Burnley. It was there that Trippier's loan spell turned into a full-time commitment in 2012. Trippier's career has been marked by his swift playing style as a full-back, earning his first England cap in 2017 while with Tottenham Hotspur. He represented his country 54 times before hanging up his international boots last summer. His unforgettable moment on the pitch came with a stunning free-kick goal against Croatia during the World Cup semi-finals in 2018.
