Lola Young to release new album I'm Only F****** Myself in September

Lola Young will release her third studio album, I'm Only F****** Myself, on September 19. The Messy hitmaker has announced her next studio effort alongside the new single, Not Like That Anymore, "a fist-in-the-air anthem built for shouting back at the world", set for release on Friday (20.06.25). A press release notes that: "Lola's upcoming third album encapsulates emotional and musical growth. It's a bright, touching body of work that often dives into the dark and raw but is counterbalanced by Lola's uncompromising attitude, unafraid to get candid with exactly how she feels." It continued: "I'm Only F****** Myself explores themes of self-sabotage, using vices like sex and drugs as a form of escapism, which can quickly turn into nihilism." Fans have already heard the infectious earworm, One Thing. I'm Only F****** Myself follows 2024's Top 20 LP This Wasn't Meant for You Anyway. The 24-year-old star has been racking up awards and was honoured with the ASCAP Vanguard Award in recognition of her growing list of achievements on June 17. The ASCAP accolade followed Lola receiving the Rising Star Award at this year's Ivor Novellos. Meanwhile, Lola recently suffered a technical glitch when her earpiece malfunctioned during her performance of Messy at Capital's Summertime Ball. The star was praised by fellow pop star RAYE, who commented on a TikTok of the viral moment: "Sound travel[s] slowly, especially across a venue this big. "Like a 3 second difference from it coming out of speakers to reaching the other side of the stadium, without in ears or a floor monitor, it is almost impossible to sing in time or pitch yourself !! "Lola you're doing amazing! So proud of you. (sic)"

Raye praises 'amazing' Lola Young after technical glitch left her in tears

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video After shooting to fame last year with her hit single, Lola Young just made her Capital Summertime Ball debut – but it was a little, well, messy. The 24-year-old singer was all smiles as she walked on stage at Wembley Stadium in London, but was reduced to floods of tears backstage. Lola wasn't the only one having difficulties this year, as Jade went viral for claiming she was blocked from singing her new release. While the Little Mix star fought her battles off stage, Lola was left to face the music on stage – literally – as a technical fault derailed her short set. During her biggest track, Messy, her earpiece stopped working, forcing her to ask fans for help as she tried to claw back the performance. Now, the iconic Raye has shared some words of wisdom and praised the 'amazing' Lola for fighting through the 'impossible' situation. Commenting on a TikTok of the singer in tears, Raye explained: 'Sound travel[s] slowly, especially across a venue this big. 'Like a 3 second difference from it coming out of speakers to reaching the other side of the stadium, without in ears or a floor monitor, it is almost impossible to sing in time or pitch yourself !!' The seven-time Brit Award winner added: 'Lola you're doing amazing! So proud of you.' On Sunday, the 80,000 capacity venue watched as Lola, who is the niece of Gruffalo author Julia Donaldson, struggled to keep time during Messy. @bdjdksksm #summertimeball #lolayoung ♬ original sound – bdjdksksm 'Sorry guys, my ears are going in and out,' Lola explained before shouting for tech support and asking, 'Can I get some new ears?' The fault threw off her timing with the band but she was determined to continue, telling fans to 'sing along please'. It seemed the issue wasn't being resolved, with Lola declaring, 'It's like they're doing it on purpose' before walking off stage as the song ended. TikToker and gig-goer Bdjdksksm caught sight of her after the set, crying to her crew as they attempted to calm her down. Fans commented supportive messages across social media, including Charlie Puth, who wrote on Instagram: 'She's pitch perfect even without hearing herself that is impressive !!! She did a great job.' Host Sian Welby said: 'An absolute professional 🙌🙌🙌 nothing but respect for that performance ❤️.' Capital's official Instagram page shared a clip of the error, with the caption: '@lolayounggg gave it EVERYTHING like a true professional.' She wasn't alone in technical faults, though, as Zara Larsson's microphone cut out while on stage as well as a 20-minute delay in the live stream. More Trending This is also the second time Lola has been plagued with issues at a festival as she was forced to run off stage after feeling like she was going to vomit while performing at Coachella. Explaining what happened, she wrote: 'i was nervous guys and it was 40 bloody degrees. Im back today, same time, same tent love ya x.' As with any live production, things can go wrong but Zara and Lola proved the show must – and can – go on. Hopefully, Lola's Glastonbury debut later this month goes off without a hitch. Got a story? Lola Young 'in tears' backstage after earpiece mishap at Summertime Ball

At this year's Capital FM Summertime Ball, Lola Young struggled with technical difficulties while performing her hit songs Messy singer Lola Young is said to have been 'in tears' after struggling with technical difficulties while performing on stage for this year's Capital FM Summertime Ball. The 24-year-old singer performed a few songs at the event at Wembley Arena in London this weekend, but her earpiece stopped working while she was on stage. While trying to get the earpiece to work, she told the crowd: "Sorry guys my ears are going in and out. Can I get some new ears?" She tried to continue without the earpiece but couldn't keep in time with the band, so she eventually asked the audience: "Sing along please." ‌ ‌ "It's like they're doing it on purpose," Lola told her fans after a few attempts of performing without hearing anything from her earpiece. After finishing her set, she walked off the stage in frustration. In a video taken by an audience member, Lola could be seen looking distressed from the mishap as she put her face into her hands while a few others stood by her. One person wrapped their arm around her as two others seemingly comforted her. She then slowly walked off to a different corner of the area and leaned her arms on what looked to be a box. The TikTok user captioned the post: "Lola young ran off crying because her ear piece stopped working." Fans also rushed to the comment section to share their support for the star. One user commented: "I really don't see how people can hate on someone for this? It was a sound issue and the crowd loved her still, I feel bad for her but she was one of the best acts!" ‌ Another said: "Bless her," and one concerned fan posted: "If someone doesn't hug that girl." The Mirror have reached out to Lola's reps for comment. Earlier in the show, fans were shown a statement from organisers on the screens. It read: "We have had to pause the show temporarily. Please remain in the stadium. We hope to restart shortly. Thank you." ‌ Fans were quick to go on Twitter and share updates from the venue. One wrote: "Capitals summertime ball is going well #summertimeball," whilst another added: "Whoops #Summertimeball." Capital Breakfast's Jordan North said before the show: "We are absolutely buzzing to be back at Capital's Summertime Ball with Barclaycard this year!" Ashley Tabor-King, Founder & Executive President of Global, added: "We've got a stellar line-up of global superstars and today's biggest hit music artists - all set to light up the stage! "This is truly one of our best ever line-ups and we can't wait to see 80,000 Capital listeners enjoy every moment, it's going to be a day to remember!"
