
School headmaster suspended over participation of POCSO case accused in school Praveshanolsavam
The manager of Fort High School has suspended school headmaster T.S. Pradeep Kumar from service pending an inquiry in the wake of participation of a Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) case accused at the school Praveshanolsavam last week.
The suspension order came into effect on Tuesday.
The order said the incident hurt the reputation of the General Education department. A preliminary inquiry conducted by the Thiruvananthapuram deputy director of education had found that the headmaster's inattention had resulted in the participation of the POCSO case accused in the celebrations. As per the directions of the DDE, the headmaster had been temporarily suspended from service, it said.
Senior Malayalam teacher R. Rajesh would discharge the responsibilities of the headmaster.
Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty had on Monday said that the school manager had been directed to take action in the case.

New Delhi: Delhi High Court granted two weeks' interim bail to a woman convict, sentenced to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment in a POCSO case, on the grounds of her father's death. The vacation bench of Justice Pratibha M Singh heard the plea of the convict, a former security guard at a private hospital in southeast Delhi, who was sentenced under various provisions of the POCSO Act. On June 18, the court noted that she was convicted of aggravated penetrative sexual assault, abetment, and failure to report or record the offence, and was subsequently awarded the sentence. The court also imposed other conditions, such as the convict only visiting her village residence, reporting daily at the police station concerned, keeping her mobile number operational at all times, and surrendering after two weeks.

Mumbai collegian shows 17-year-old's explicit photos to friend in class; both arrested
Mumbai: Police have arrested two collegians, who are in their 20s, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after one of them showed explicit photographs of an underage girl to the other in class. Police said the prime accused is a small-time model and the 17-year-old girl was acquainted with him. According to the police, the girl used to chat often with the prime accused over the phone and had sent him some private photographs of herself. He showed these to his friend in class. When the girl later learnt about it, she lodged a police complaint.

Protest planned in Kalaburagi over sexual assault on minor
The Sakal Hindu Samaj, a consortium of various organizations, has announced a mass protest in Kalaburagi on Tuesday against the sexual assault on a minor in Nandikur Tanda on the outskirts of Kalaburagi. Members of the samaj Divya Hagaragi and Ramchandra Jadhav, addressing the press here on Sunday, said that the religious heads of various mutts, community leaders and several organizations will join the protest march from Jagat Circle to Deputy Commissioner's office. Ms. Hagaragi urged citizens to unite for the 'safety of our daughters'. She said that the accused, Waseem Shaikh, sexually assaulted the minor girl from Nandikur Tanda three weeks ago. Later, the accused, along with his parents and relatives, barged into the victim's house and harassed the girl's parents using abusive language and even forced them to get their daughter married to Waseem Shaikh, she said. A case has been lodged under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (PoCSO) Act at the Gulbarga University Police Station.
