Arsenal reignite interest in Newcastle and Chelsea target as asking price slashe
Arsenal are showing an interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi again, as the defender heads into the final year of his contract.
The 24-year-old was a target for the Gunners 12 months ago, along with a number of other clubs including Newcastle, Liverpool and his former team Chelsea.
The Eagles stuck firm to their lofty asking price of £70m and no deal was done, with Guehi staying put and going on to win the FA Cup with Palace.
However, the England international's contract at Selhurst Park expires next year so his price tag will be significantly lower this summer.
The Mirror report that with Guehi now much more affordable than a year ago, Arsenal's interest has been reignited, although their pursuit of him will not be straightforward.

Not only will there be plenty of competition again from their Premier League rivals, but the 23-cap England international may take some convincing to move to the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta has established a very reliable partnership at centre-back in Gabriel and William Saliba, one that will not easily be broken.
Gabriel signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal earlier this month and the club is working on Saliba doing the same.
There is interest from Real Madrid in the Frenchman and the Gunners are very keen to keep hold of the impressive centre-back.
That puts in question their interest in Guehi as he will not want to move to any club where he would not be a guaranteed starter.
The Athletic report that Arteta wants genuine competition to his first-choice central defenders and Arsenal made a move for Bournemouth's Dean Huijsen before he made his £50m transfer to Real Madrid.
Newcastle made three bids for Guehi last summer, going as high as £60m, but could not convince Palace to sell.
With a return to the Champions League, the Magpies could come back with another offer as he is now likely available for less than they bid in 2024.
Joined from Chelsea in July 2021 for £18m
Appearances: 155
Goals: 8
Trophies: 2024/25 FA Cup
Guehi has offered little on his future, saying before Palace beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final: 'My only focus is this game.
'My only focus is the fact that I am under contract at Palace. So as far as I am concerned, I am a Palace player.'
Last month The Sun reported that Guehi may choose to run down his contract at Crystal Palace and see his options expand further when he will be available on a free transfer next summer.
Real Madrid and Barcelona have been touted as possible destinations for the defender if he were to leave Selhurst Park on a free.

England goalkeeper Hannah Hampton hopes to ‘live up to the legacy' of Mary Earps
Earps was instrumental in inspiring the Lionesses to their first major trophy on home turf in 2022, but had been slipping in boss Sarina Wiegman's favour behind 24-year-old Chelsea shot-stopper Hampton before announcing she would be stepping away from international football last month. Hampton felt her predecessor did not deserve the 'scrutiny' she experienced in the aftermath, but conceded she was 'not expecting' a reply to a congratulatory text she sent Earps, 32, after she made her shock decision public. living out the dream of a little girl from the Midlands who never stopped believing. proud to be representing my country at another major tournament🏴 — Hannah Hampton (@hannahhampton_) June 5, 2025 'We're going to miss her as a person here,' Hampton said. 'She's a big personality in this team and she glued us all together at times when we needed (her) to. 'So, I think it's been difficult for everyone to come to terms with what her decision is, but we have to respect that. And now I've got to just go and live up to her legacy. I'll give it my best shot for sure.' In April, Wiegman confirmed the younger keeper was 'a little bit ahead' of two-time FIFA Best winner Earps. 'First of all we have to obviously respect what (Earps') decision is,' said Hampton. 'I think there's been quite a bit of scrutiny that she probably doesn't deserve with everything that she's achieved in the game and obviously (she's) put women's goalkeeping on the map for the younger generation, aspiring to now be a goalkeeper. 'It was never really a thing and Mary's changed that. There's so many more young boys and girls taking part in goalkeeping, which was never the case when I was growing up. 'I think I've done everything I need to do. I've sent her a text and I congratulated her on a very successful international career and I think that's all I really can do. 'I don't think there's anything else and I'm not expecting anything back. She's been an unbelievable player.' Hampton has steadily risen up the ranks for both club and country since joining Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2023. And ahead of England's Euros defence – which begins against France on July 5, she added: 'I think of it as just playing another game of football. 'There's not really much pressure that you can put on yourself. We're here as a big team. Mary Earps has today announced her decision to retire from international football with immediate effect. The decision marks the end of a memorable eight-year international career. ❤️ 🏴 — Lionesses (@Lionesses) May 27, 2025 'You'll get through the games as a big team, whether that was me starting or me on the sidelines supporting – you knew what your role was going to be for the whole of the summer. 'Just getting that bit of clarity already helps you prepare for whatever your role is. My role is different this time around compared to the last tournaments, but it's not going to change my mindset. 'I'm there to enjoy myself, do the nation proud with all the girls and get memories. I remember all the memories from the last World Cup and Euros and I cherish every single one of them, I just want to keep repeating that.'

London City Lionesses make statement signing of Daniëlle van de Donk
London City Lionesses have made a statement of intent following promotion to the Women's Super League by completing the signing of Netherlands midfielder Daniëlle van de Donk. The independently-run club, who will play in the WSL for the first time next season after winning the Women's Championship title in May, have acquired the 33-year-old on a free transfer from record eight-time European champions Lyon, recently renamed as OL Lyonnes, following the conclusion of her contract. OL Lyonnes are, like London City Lionesses, owned by the American businesswoman, Michele Kang. Van de Donk won the WSL title winner with Arsenal in 2019 and was also part of the Netherlands squad that won the 2017 Women's European Championship and reached the final of the 2019 World Cup. She has signed a two-year contract with London City, who have made no secret of their ambitions to disrupt the established big-name of women's football in England. 'I'm feeling really good,' said Van de Donk, who is London City's first signing of the transfer window. 'It's such a nice environment to be in, the club really appeals to me, it reminds me of a little family, and I want to be a part of it. The project that London City have, it's different but in a good way. London City have to battle for everything and that's my style.' News of Van de Donk's return to the WSL came as the Football Association formally approved the expansion of the division from 12 to 14 clubs from the 2026-27 season.

Liverpool 'certainty' over potential Isak transfer as Newcastle lay out demands
Liverpool have been linked with making Newcastle star Alexander Isak their latest big-money signing this summer and the Reds have been told exactly when they could sign the striker Liverpool would 'love' to continue their summer splurge with the signing of Alexander Isak - but they have encountered a huge problem. The Reds are in the midst of a lucrative spending spree as boss Arne Slot attempts to refresh his squad. Jeremie Frimpong has been signed from Bayer Leverkusen as Trent Alexander-Arnold 's replacement. He is expected to be followed by both Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez after Liverpool thrashed out deals worth £100m and £40m with Leverkusen and Bournemouth respectively. And the Reds might not even be done there, with Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi touted as a potential replacement for the outgoing Jarell Quansah. Newcastle sensation Isak is a name that has been linked with Liverpool in the past, and according to The Telegraph, the Swede is a player that the Reds would 'love' to sign. But it is detailed that Liverpool 'almost certainly' have no chance of signing him this summer. Newcastle would want to bank over £150m for their star forward this window - and that is a fee that seems hard for Liverpool given their huge spending so far. As it stands, nothing is imminent between the Reds and Newcastle, with discussions over Isak - both formal and informal - not even being held at this stage. Meanwhile, Isak appears to be satisfied with life at St James' Park. Speaking last season, he said: 'I don't know much, to be honest. From within the club and from our side there are absolutely no discussions. It's just full focus on playing for me. There's not much to say, really. I've commented on my situation and my security in Newcastle several times. 'It's been written how much I love the city and the club, how well I feel there. I'm not thinking about the future. I just want to perform for Newcastle. Now we won the cup, but we want to finish strong and reach the Champions League games. That's where my focus lies. 'There is no reason for me to think about anything else (other than Newcastle). I feel incredibly comfortable at Newcastle. The only focus I have is on playing.' Meanwhile, Eddie Howe has spoken out on Isak's future and could not completely rule out a sale - but has reaffirmed his desire to keep the striker at the club. He said: "I never make those guarantees about any player and it's not to do with Alex's future but I'd be foolish to sit here and do anything like that. 'We want to keep our strongest players, I've said that ever since I've been here and sat in this seat. We have to try and keep our best players and bring in more good players to make us even stronger because the ambition of the club and everyone connected with the club is long-term success and that's the only way to get that."
