Govt has given jobs to 18 whose kin were political clash victims: Tripura min
Agartala: The BJP-led govt has so far provided permanent jobs to 18 people whose family members have been victims of political violence, state parliamentary affairs minister Ratan Lal Nath on Saturday.
Nath said a large number of opposition supporters, during the 35-year regime of the Left Front govt, had been victims of political violence, with most of them being the breadwinners of their families. "Losing their breadwinners, the families landed in distress. Neither justice was ensured nor were they given any assistance from the govt," Nath said.
However, after the BJP-IPFT alliance came to power in 2018, the state govt decided to support the families of those who had lost their loved ones to political violence, Nath added.
So far, 39 applications have been received, out of which 18 have already been provided jobs, the minister said. The state govt has constituted a panel for scrutiny of applications received for providing employment to family members of those individuals killed in political clashes, he added.
The committee, headed by Nath and comprising senior bureaucrats and police officials, examine the applications based on reports from district magistrates and superintendents of police.
