More Galaxy Z Fold 7 rumours come in, design details revealed

India Today12-05-2025

Samsung is hosting its Galaxy Unpacked event (virtual) tomorrow, May 13, 2025, for the launch of its ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone. However, the company's next Unpacked event is expected in early July, and the latest rumours have emerged, giving us a good idea of what to expect from the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7. The foldable phone is tipped to be Samsung's thinnest and most refined foldable yet. A fresh leak now claims the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could measure just 8.9mm when folded and an incredibly slim 3.9mm when unfolded. If true, this would make it slimmer than any other foldable phone on the market today, including the Oppo Find N5, which currently holds the record at 8.93mm when closed.advertisementThe Galaxy Z Fold 7 is also rumoured to feature a lighter build, a new hinge mechanism for a less visible crease, and an upgraded triple-camera setup led by a 200-megapixel primary sensor. Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed by Samsung yet, so we suggest taking this piece of information with a healthy grain of salt.According to tipster Ice Universe, now known as Ice Cat on X (formerly Twitter), Samsung has made big progress with the design of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The leaked dimensions — 8.9mm folded and 3.9mm unfolded — will be a major step up from last year's Galaxy Z Fold 6, which was 12.1mm thick when closed and 5.6mm when opened. Even the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, released in select markets like South Korea and China, is comparatively bulkier, measuring 10.6mm when folded.

Despite the reduced thickness, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to pack a 4,400mAh battery — the same capacity as its predecessor. The battery was recently spotted in a 3C certification listing, suggesting it will also adopt new battery and charging technologies for better performance. In a separate post, the tipster has also mentioned that the bezels on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 are said to be just 1mm thick. For perspective, the Galaxy Z Fold 6's bezels measure 1.9mm.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. It will likely be paired with 12GB RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. Reports say the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8.2-inch inner foldable screen. There are also hints at a more advanced cooling system and a cleaner, almost invisible crease. In terms of cameras, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is tipped to come with a 200-megapixel primary rear camera, which will be a major jump from the 50-megapixel sensor used in the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It may be paired with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor.Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Z Flip 7 at a Galaxy Unpacked event in early July. Reports suggest the launch will take place in New York, marking a return to the US after two years of overseas launches. The company is also likely to unveil the Galaxy Watch 7, a new Android-powered XR headset, and possibly tease other foldables like the Galaxy Z Flip FE and Galaxy G Fold.
