Galaxy Z Fold 7 renders leak — and it looks like Samsung's fixed two big problems

Our best look yet at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has just been provided by Android Headlines and OnLeaks, who have published allegedly official renders of Samsung's next big foldable phone. One of the most interesting changes visible in these renders is a punch-hole camera on the inner display. The last time Samsung had one of these on a Z Fold's main screen was the Galaxy Z Fold 2, with every subsequent Z Fold, including the current Galaxy Z Fold 6 using an under-display camera. Having a hidden camera in the display is quite the technological feat. But it usually means a drop in image quality from that camera having to shoot through layers of the display. With Samsung using only a tiny 4MP sensor, this problem was made even worse. A move back to a punch-hole in the main display should not impact its usability, but will hopefully make the camera more useful for selfies or video calls again. The renders also seem to demonstrate the changes Samsung is tipped to be making to the Galaxy Z Fold 7's body. The new foldable is said to be slimmer and lighter but also wider than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, giving the phone more screen space while also making it easier to handle. As a result, the outer display is apparently going to be 6.5 inches in size, compared to the 6.3-inch one on the Z Fold 6. The Z Fold 7's inner display meanwhile is thought to be 8.2 inches, another increase in size from the Z Fold 6's 7.6-inch panel. The two colors we see in these renders are apparently called Blue Shadow and Jet Black. Other colors will be available according to AH, although it doesn't provide any further information. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Samsung's been unusually open about its plans for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. While it hasn't identified the device by name, it has published a number of teasers hinting at an Ultra-grade experience for its next foldable. Samsung hasn't given us a launch date yet, but it looks like the Z Fold 7, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Watch 8 could arrive on July 9 at a new Galaxy Unpacked showcase. If the upgrades seemingly on show in these renders are indeed made to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, it could be enough to put Samsung back on top of our best foldable phones guide after years of stagnation. But we'll save our proper impressions for when the facts are confirmed, and after we've had hands-on time with the new foldable.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 fresh leak leaves little to the imagination before rumoured July 9 launch

July is fast approaching, and so is the Galaxy Unpacked event, which is rumoured to take place on July 9. At this event, Samsung is expected to announce a range of foldables and wearables. However, the spotlight of the show — as it always has been with mid-year Unpacked events — will be on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. That said, we don't need to wait until July to know about the upcoming Samsung foldables, as the duo — Fold and Flip — have leaked in all their glory, leaving little to the imagination. advertisementFolks over at Android Headlines have got their hands on some alleged 'official' renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Both phones look amazing, especially in the new blue colour and how sleek they appear. Speaking of which, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is super thin, and you only realise it when you see it next to the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Galaxy Z Fold 7 (left) and Galaxy Z Fold 6 (right) / Credit: Android Headlines Without further ado, let's start with the details on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. This phone is said to come in two colours: Jet Black and Blue Shadow. The latter shade will remind you of the Galaxy S24's blue variant, and it looks absolutely fire. Apart from this, the rumours about its slimness are also turning out to be true — or at least if the leaks are to be believed. The phone looks astonishingly slim against the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and it will reportedly measure between 3.9mm and 4.5mm in thickness when unfolded. For perspective, the OPPO Find N5 is currently the thinnest foldable, with a 4.2mm thickness when unfolded. Will the Fold 7 beat it? We'll find out soon. Galaxy Z Fold 7 / Credit: Android Headlines advertisement In terms of weight, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to weigh 215 grams — making it 24 grams lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and about 14 grams lighter than the OPPO Find N5. To give you a sense, the Galaxy S25 Ultra weighs 218 grams. So, if you've ever held one of those, you may get somewhat of an idea of how the Fold 7 might feel in the from this, other leaks suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature a 6.5-inch cover display along with an 8.2-inch inner display. It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and is rumoured to come with a triple-rear camera system, led by a 200-megapixel primary to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 — this one is about to get sleeker than ever. Again, not that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 was bulky or anything, but looking at the renders and when you see the Galaxy Z Flip 7 next to the Flip 6, it's hard not to notice how the upcoming model is substantially slimmer. We also expect it to be lighter than the previous model. For context, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 measures 6.9mm when unfolded and weighs 187 grams. This is rumoured to be 4 inches in size, compared to the 3.4-inch cover screen on the Flip 6. Also, similar to the Fold, the renders show the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in the Blue Shadow and Jet Black colourways. Galaxy Z Flip 7 / Credit: Android Headlines Other rumours suggest a Snapdragon 8 Elite or the Exynos 2500 chip under the hood, paired with a 4,000mAh battery and at least 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The camera setup is also expected to remain the same as the older Flip 6 — i.e. a 50-megapixel primary sensor paired with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, along with a 10-megapixel front camera for selfies and video said — while the renders and leaks share a lot of information about Samsung's foldables, and as we said, leave very little to the imagination — these are, at the end of the day, just leaks. Until Samsung makes anything official, we'd suggest you take all the information with a huge grain of is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 during the Unpacked event, rumoured to take place on July 9. Other devices expected at the event include the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE — the company's first-ever Fan Edition foldable phone, the Galaxy G Fold — Samsung's heavily rumoured triple-fold phone, along with the Galaxy Watch 8 series, including the Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic and Watch Ultra tuned to India Today Tech for all the latest on Samsung's upcoming foldable smartphones and the Galaxy Unpacked event.

iPhone Foldable Launch From Apple Once Again Tipped For Next Year: What More We Know

Last Updated: iPhone foldable launch is widely tipped for 2026 and Apple is banking on its partners to get the device ready ahead of the iPhone 18 series launch. Apple's big AI delays mean all focus now shifts to the company entering the foldable segment with its first iPhone model expected in late 2026. According to reports, Apple's first foldable is said to be a book-style folding device, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and might have a 12-inch inner screen with two rear cameras. In terms of dimensions, it could come with 9.2mm in thickness when folded and 4.6mm when unfolded, which makes it notably slimmer than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 even the Fold 5. And now Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst claims Apple has a clear roadmap for its foldable device and how it plans to go about its production as well as availability on shelves. iPhone Foldable Launch: What Kuo Says The analyst says Apple will depend on Samsung Display to source the foldable screen for its iPhones. The company is going to use Foxconn to make the device which will start working on the product from Q3 2024 or early 2026 before mass production later in the year. This also suggests Apple could be lining up the iPhone foldable with the iPhone 18 series next year. The company is hoping to ship around 15 million to 20 million units which is an ambitious figure for a pricey product. Samsung is rumoured to be developing the screen exclusively for Apple's first foldable smartphone with UTG Lens technology. It's most likely a variant of the ultra-thin glass (UTG) that Samsung utilises in its bendable goods. The company is yet to talk about its foldable plans, as it currently looks to fix the issues facing its AI ecosystem. Siri AI has been delayed till 2026 and a new report claims Apple will have it ready with the iOS 26.4 update that should be rolling out around March-April next year. Samsung might launch its next foldable smartphone next month

Samsung likely will unveil the next thinner version of its foldable smartphone next month. Its previous version Galaxy Z Fold 6 (pictured) was introduced in Tokyo in 2024. File Photo by Keizo Mori/UPI | License Photo June 19 (UPI) -- Samsung likely will unveil the next thinner version of its foldable smartphone next month. Over the weekend, leaks showcased a look at the Galaxy Z Fold 7 -- it has a thinner hinge, larger camera bump and a 200 MP sensor. It will run on Android 16 and has an 8-inch inner display and 6- to 5-inch cover display. "The newest Galaxy Z series is the thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet -- meticulously crafted and built to last," Samsung said in a blog post earlier this month. The phone is reported to be slimmer at 4.5mm unfolded. It has titanium hinge components, refined crease control and a Snapdragon 8 Chipset. The camera is expected to be upgraded from a 50MP to a 200MP sensor and uses AI-enhanced image processing. "With foldables, thinness has become more critical than ever because people aren't prepared to accept the compromise for a thicker and heavier phone to get the real estate that a folding phone can deliver," Ben Wood, chief analyst at CCS Insight, said on Thursday. According to a Laptopmag leaker, the phone will be revealed on July 11 and will go on sale July 25. Analysts are expecting models to be priced at about $2,000 and a little higher depending on U.S. tariffs. CCS insight said that foldables will account for just 2% of the overall smartphone market this year. In previous years, over 50% of foldable phone owners have all switched back to traditional phones in the next upgrade cycle, according to data.
