Coronation Street star makes return to ITV soap 15 years after exit in new role
Coronation Street star Reece Dinsdale is returning to the ITV soap after 15 years, but not in the role you expect.
Dinsdale originally played Gail Platt's fourth husband, Joe McIntyre, and left the soap after his character's death.
The actor was on Corrie for two years before leaving in 2010 when he left the cobbles and later moved to a role on fellow ITV soap, Emmerdale as Paul Ashdale.
Now, Dinsdale is returning to Coronation Street after 15 years away, despite his original character dying, for a new role.
Don't shoot the messenger! We're back tonight at 9pm on ITV1, but don't worry if that's past your bedtime, you can stream tonight's episode now on ITVX! 👌 @ITV @ITVX @WeAreSTV #Corrie pic.twitter.com/PY5aO2tU2e

Joe died on Corrie after he tried to fake his death to claim insurance money; however, his plans went wrong, and he saw the character really die.
Now, Reece is making his way back to the cobbled streets, but this time he's taken a role behind the camera.
As the actor will be directing four episodes of Coronation Street, according to The Sun.
Taking to the social media platform BlueSky, to share the news, Reece said: "For those of you who enjoy these things, my next four episodes (as Director) of Coronation Street will be shown tonight and on Friday.
"I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I did making them."

Jessie J made powerful statement at Capital's Summertime Ball ahead of cancer surgery
Jessie J bid a powerful, temporary goodbye to her fans attending Capital's Summertime Ball on Sunday, June 22, as she prepared for life-saving surgery. Diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, the London-born popstar used her brief Wembley Stadium gig as a platform to share a touching message with the thousands there and millions tuning in at home. Before slipping into her best-known track 'Price Tag', she listed all the things she's grateful for. "Summertime Ball, today this show is my last show before I go and beat breast cancer," began the singer (real name Jessica Cornish) during the ITV1 broadcast. "So it's so special to be here, you have no idea. I feel so proud to be from the UK and to be this honest person - we just say what we feel. With this being my last show before I go and have surgery, it's the most special thing and I'm so grateful for this life, for you guys, for my career, for my son, my partner, my parents, my family, my band, my crew, my people. "We are so lucky," continued Jessie. "We have so much to live for, so much joy, so many things to do. It feels so special, so I wanna celebrate this song here with you right now. This song is called 'Price Tag.'" "I want to share it with my fans and the people that care about me, and also I'm a sharer. I've always shared everything that I go through in my life," she said in a video. "Before 'No Secrets' came out I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I'm highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form but I'm holding on to the word early. I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period." Making light of the situation, Jessie joked that it's a "very dramatic way to get a boob job", before announcing that she'd be disappearing "for a bit" after the Summertime Ball. "I will come back with massive t**s and more music," she added. "I know there are so many people that are going through this same thing and I'm honestly just reaching out to hold your hand and because I need mine held too." Elsewhere in this star-packed music marathon was a reunion between Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff, who performed 'Gettin' Jiggy wit It' and 'Summertime' together for the first time in years. To celebrate Father's Day - the show was actually recorded last weekend - Smith pulled his son Jaden out from the crowd and hugged him. "That's my guy!" he smiled as the Karate Kid actor sauntered offstage. Mariah Carey, who closed out the Summertime Ball with 'We Belong Together', spoke to hosts Jordan North, Siân Welby and Chris Stark backstage for a playful Q&A session too. Answering a question on her own mythology - specifically whether it's true that she doesn't acknowledge the passage of time, the so-called 'Songbird Supreme' replied: "That is true. I just don't believe in it." Apparently, Carey doesn't "have a birthday" yet partakes in anniversaries, and when Stark facetiously asked her what would happen if they wanted to meet up later on (in terms of timings), the singer claimed: "We'd have somebody call you and figure it out." KSI, Reneé Rapp, Jade, JLS, Benson Boone, Myles Smith, Rita Ora, and Tate McRea all featured in the Summertime Ball lineup. Capital's Summertime Ball aired on ITV1 and ITVX.

Is ‘North Shore' returning for season 2? Everything we know so far
North Shore , the Aussie crime show, grabbed viewers with its juicy murder plot and sweet Sydney Harbour scenery. You've got Joanne Froggatt as Abigail Crawford, a tough UK Trade Minister, and John Bradley as Detective Max Drummond, a Brit cop teaming up with an Aussie partner to crack the case of Abigail's daughter Sophie's death. Since it dropped on Network 10 in Australia in May 2023 and hit ITVX in the UK in December 2024, fans are dying to know: Is Season 2 happening? Here's everything we know so far. Is North Shore Season 2 Happening? As of June 2025, Network 10 and Paramount+ haven't said yes or no to North Shore Season 2. There's a glimmer of hope, though. Back in August 2023, the Nilsen Report claimed filming was set to start in Sydney that October, with Beach Road Pictures, ITV Studios, and Screen Australia in the mix. But no one's followed up with hard news, so we're left hanging, wondering if it's a go or a bust. Season 1 pulled a 6.8/10 on IMDb, and fans loved Froggatt and Bradley's chemistry, plus the crime-meets-drama vibe. Some weren't stoked about slow pacing or side characters who didn't shine, which might weigh on the decision. Until we hear more, it's all guesswork. North Shore Season 2 Potential Release Date No Season 2 confirmation means no release date yet. If that October 2023 filming rumor panned out, they might've wrapped by early 2024. Going by how long Season 1 took, we could see new episodes by late 2025 or early 2026. North Shore Season 2 Potential Plot Season 1 dug into Sophie's murder, with Max and Aussie cop Meg Driscoll (Kirsty Sturgess) unraveling political dirt and dark secrets. It tied up the main case but left some questions. No official plot for Season 2 yet, but here's what might go down: New Case, Same Duo: Max and Meg, with their Brit-Aussie banter, could tackle another Sydney murder, maybe tied to some shady international deal. Old Clues: Season 1 dropped hints about dodgy businessman Lloyd Macklin and a mystery caller tipping off Max and Abigail. Those could spark a new mess. Real Feelings: Abigail's still hurting from her loss, and Max's got issues with his partner, Anna, which could add depth to a fresh case. Mike Bullen, who made Cold Feet , knows how to blend grit and heart, so expect any new season to pack a punch. Ahmedabad Plane Crash
