Huge Coronation Street star set to make dramatic return and filming has started
Coronation Street is reportedly bringing back a chaotic character, with the actor expected to be back on screen later this summer which will no doubt delight fans Coronation Street icon Amy Robbins, best known for her role as Christina Boyd, is reportedly making a comeback to the cobbles despite her sudden exit from the long-running programme. According to reports, the 54-year-old star, who made her first appearance on Corrie in early 2023, has already started filming. Amy made her exit from the show as nightmare mum of Daisy Midgeley earlier this year as part of Daisy's exit storyline. Amy played the role of Christina on and off since 2023. It was confirmed earlier this year that Charlotte Jordan, who played her on screen daughter, would leave the soap after four years, in a bid to "explore other opportunities." Daisy might have left, but there's still a big storyline waiting for Christina, with fans able to expect her back on screen soon. A source recently claimed to The Sun that Amy is filming new scenes, explaining: "Christina will be back to her usual tricks causing chaos on the cobbles. There's going to be some incredible scenes with her and Jenny clashing. 'And this time she's back for a long stint. She returned to filming recently and she'll be back on screen later this summer. It's definitely going to be explosive.' When Charlotte left the show, she said: "My time at Coronation Street is something I'll always cherish. After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it's time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.' Amy returned as "hot mess" Christina earlier this year to make sure her on-screen daughter had an exit to remember. Despite having a turbulent relationship, Daisy reached out to her mother, insisting she needed help. For the first time, the mother and daughter worked together as a duo, and unfortunately, Daisy's step mum Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) got the brunt of it. Speaking of her previous return, Amy said to the Mirror at the time: "For the first time you see the two women work together. When push comes to shove, she's relying on her flesh and blood to help her out of it. "Christina runs to her rescue to finally get revenge on Jenny, which is what she's always wanted to do." At the time, she also claimed it was her last stint on the cobbles and insisted a return for Christina was "highly unlikely" after Daisy's departure. The Mirror have reached out to ITV for comment.

"I hope Bobby brings viewers a lot of laughs in the vein of some of the street's classic comedy characters." But The Sun can reveal that Jack filmed his final scenes back in March, with his low-key exit airing on screen last month after his storyline came to a natural end. In scenes that played out on the 12th May, Bobby decided to fly out to Spain for a last minute holiday after close friend Lauren Bolton accused him of being her blackmailer. He told his aunt Carla, actress Alison King, that he would be joining Simon Barlow on his travels. Simon Barlow actor Alex Bain was also axed by bosses and left the soap last year. A Corrie source said: 'Jack loved his time on the cobbles but it came to a natural end for now. 'He did 18 months on the street and loved every minute of it. 'His exit was very low-key and even the viewers didn't realise his last minute holiday to Spain would be a permanent move. 'Jack wanted to go quietly and not make a fuss. Jack Carroll on Britain's Got Talent 'The door is very much open for him to return in future storylines.' Jack shot to fame at 14 when he was the runner up on the seventh series of Britain's Got Talent in 2014. Coronation Street's 2024 shock exits Corrie has said goodbye to several cast members this year. Let's break down who's left the famous soap: Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) has said farewell to Corrie to start a new life in Germany. The youngster moved to live with her dad Dom Everett, who went back on the £10,000 bribe Eliza's grandfather Stu had offered to keep him out of her life. Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) will bow out of the soap this summer when he loses his fight with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes. After being diagnosed last year, the fan favourite was devastated to learn he only had months left to live. Viewers know he is planning to take his own life to end his suffering. Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) departed the cobbles after being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America. Though she struggled to decide with her stepdad Paul's impending death from MND, she was convinced she had to live her life to the full. Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has struggled with the sudden departure of his father Peter from the cobbles. The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day, 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend. Simon's been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy. Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child. It looks likely she'll be heading to Dublin after securing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and fling Adam Barlow behind. Show stalwart Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw, is taking a break to star in the Sister Act The Musical UK tour. She will be back filming in May once her dates on the tour come to an end. Her character left the Street after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia. His stand up comedy routine was a hit with the judges and viewers alike and he went on to appear on Saturday Night at the London Palladium, Jason Manford's Funny Old Week and Live At the Apollo as well as completing his first national live tour. Since filming his Corrie exit Jack has been busy with a new podcast, Love int North, which celebrates the most northern love stories.

However, in a new interview, Sue has confirmed that her stint is MUCH longer than anyone anticipated. Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV breakfast show, the Debbie Webster actress clarified that she would be with the show until 2027 before her character succumbs to the tragic condition. Sue said to the Scottish TV host: "Well, I know this story is going to go on well into 2027. "Debbie is not going anywhere!" On-screen, Debbie found out she was living with early on-set vascular dementia earlier this year. At present, only her brother Carl is aware of the devastating diagnosis. It has so far been seen to impact Debbie heavily causing her to act erratically, suffer severe mood-swings as well as forgetfulness and clumsiness. Debbie's condition is expected to worsen over the next 24 months before her eventual exit from the ITV soap - much to the dismay of fans. Petitions began to circulate when her axing was revealed in order to reverse the decision by bosses with many insisting that Debbie was Coronation Street's strongest character amid an ongoing period of criticism for the fledgling soap. Devastating moment Coronation Street icon Debbie Webster discovers she has dementia The Sun previously told how Sue was left devastated over being axed from the show. News of her exit left the actress blindsided, with a source telling The Sun: 'Sue was very shocked when she discovered she was being killed off. 'She was initially very sad and then furious and then upset again. It's taken her a long time to come to terms with it. 'She had no intention to leave the show and couldn't believe it when they called her in and broke the news.' She is one of many names to leave the programme alongside Colson Smith, Luca Toolan, Shelley King, Charlotte Jordan, Sue Cleaver, Daniel Brocklebank, Helen Worth, Paddy Bever and Katy Cavanagh.
