Unlike former Boston Red Sox slugger Rafael Devers, Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper shouldn't be concerned about finding a new home this summer.

At least, that is the case when discussing uniforms. Harper and the Phillies are a perfect match, and there is absolutely zero indication the Phillies will part ways with the two-time NL MVP anytime soon.
It'll still be a bit before we see Harper back in the lineup, though. Harper, who has been out since late May with a right wrist injury, took ground balls at first base over the weekend.
Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters that Harper will travel with the team for their four-game road set against the Miami Marlins this week. However, Harper still isn't hitting, and there is no timetable for his return.
Harper's injury update comes as the trade season begins in full force and rumors swirl about the Phillies' potential lineup changes. Philadelphia's outfield has battled inconsistency all season, raising questions about Harper—a full-time outfielder from 2012-21—possibly leaving first base.

Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran has been linked to the Phillies in recent weeks, and we expect such speculation to ramp up after Boston traded Devers to the San Francisco Giants.

Until further notice, though, we can assume Harper will resume full-time first-base duties upon returning. He hasn't played the outfield since 2022, and all but one start this season has come at first; he started at DH during a May 4 loss to the Atlanta Braves.
Harper hit the IL batting .258 with nine home runs, 34 RBI, and a .814 OPS over 253 at-bats. He's posted 1.5 bWAR for the second-place Phillies, who enter Monday trailing the New York Mets by 2 1/2 games in the NL East.

When the Boston Red Sox traded Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants, they did it knowing they would be facing their disgruntled former player in just five days. That game arrived on Friday. Taking the field only as a designated hitter, but with first base in his future, Devers failed to make his old team pay, going 0-for-5 at the plate in a 7-5 loss. He did receive a nice ovation before his first at-bat, though. Devers' hitless night wasn't for lack of balls in play. He managed to lift a ball to the left-field wall in the third inning, but was robbed of an extra-base hit by former teammate Ceddane Rafaela. Devers finished his night with his lone strikeout, swinging and missing at a 102 mph fastball from Aroldis Chapman. He is now 3-for-16 with one double four games into his Giants career. Devers met with reporters before the game to discuss the reunion, though he mostly indicated a desire to move on after a very public falling out with the Red Sox front office. Advertisement Devers was the longest-tenured player on the team and in the early years of a team-record of a 10-year, $313.5 million contract, but made his displeasure public in spring training when it became clear the Red Sox wanted to move him off third base in favor of new arrival Alex Bregman, a Gold Glover at the position. The matter appeared to settle when Devers agreed to transition to designated hitter — a potentially temporary move given that Bregman can opt out of his deal this winter — but the hurt feelings came beck when the Red Sox asked if he could cover first base after a season-ending injury Triston Casas.
