Ex-CM Jagan Reddy alleges law & order deteriorated in AP

Vijayawada, June 19 (UNI) Alleging that Chandrababu Naidu is scared for his failure in governance and his impatience is being manifested in diversion politics and foisting false cases against political opponents, former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday claimed the overwhelming response to his recent visits is a standing testimony of the huge anti-incumbency that rose within one year.
Speaking to the media here, Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that Chief Minister Chandrababu is misusing power to muzzle the voice of opposition leaders.
The huge success of Betrayal Day which got an overwhelming response shows that anti-incumbency has set in very fast as none of the Super Six promises were implemented and law and order deteriorated with harassment and false cases, he claimed.
'I visited Sattenapalli on Wednesday in a curfew-like situation which shows the measure of repressive methods being adopted by Chandrababu Naidu government. What is wrong if the Opposition leader visits to console a family and people are coming in large numbers as they are vexed with the government and are looking towards YSRCP,' he questioned.
'The YSRCP leaders, who are close to Jagan Mohan Reddy, are being jailed based on false cases based on confessional statements by small people. This is how Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Dhanunjaya Reddy, Krishnamohan Reddy, Raj Kasireddy, Nandigama Suresh and others were held and trying to implicate Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and P V Mithun Reddy,' he slammed.
The apex court had to use its discretionary powers to grant bail to Kommineni Srinivasa Rao who was arrested using the same modus operandi. Then what action should be taken against those TDP workers and leaders who attacked Sakshi properties at multiple locations which is nothing short of unbridled rowdyism, he asked.
"Farmers are in distress and not getting MSP for any crop. They are forced to sell paddy for Rs 300 less and five farmers have committed suicides. The government has no concern, and if anyone questions, Chandrababu Naidu says that dissent and Opposition will be grounded," Jagan Mohan Reddy lashed out.

Statehood: Omar says waiting for PM, HM to fulfil promise

Jammu, June 20 (UNI) Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said he was waiting for the fulfilment of the promises made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. 'Will see whether we have to go legally or not for statehood but till then, we are waiting for the Prime Minister and the Home Minister as they have assured that statehood will be restored to Jammu and Kashmir,' Abdullah told media at an event. To strengthen public outreach and grievance redress, Abdullah on Friday inaugurated a new Raabta office here at Canal Road after one is functioning in Srinagar (Kashmir valley). On the issue of reservation in the recruitment, Abdullah however, lashed out at the former J&K Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti stating, 'how much she (Mehbooba Mufti) is speaking on this? Where was she when she had the opportunity to raise this issue?' 'When she was contesting elections from Anantnag constituency and seeking votes from Rajouri-Poonch, why did she prefer silence on this matter? Why did the People's Conference leader, Sajjad Lone, who was close to the BJP, not speak on the reservation issue then?' said Abdullah. He, however, maintained that the Cabinet Sub-Committee framed by his government has submitted its report on reservation issue to the Law Department for remarks before taking a final call thereafter. Moreover, on giving water access to the neighbouring Punjab by Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister said, 'I am not in favour of this. There is a drought-like situation in Jammu, so first, let us use our water for ourselves.' 'Under Indus Water Treaty, Punjab already had water. Did they give us water when we needed it, then why should I send water to Punjab?,' said Abdullah while reacting to the 113 km-long canal proposed for redirecting additional water from three western rivers of the Indus system in Jammu and Kashmir to Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. Meanwhile, on opening of Raabta office in Jammu, Abdullah said, 'We want to reach out to people and after the successful response in Kashmir, we wanted to have a similar office in Jammu as well so that the grievances can be taken via both online and offline modes and can be addressed without any delay.' Pushpa 2 dialogue on YSRCP placard sparks row

A placard with a line from Pushpa 2, which a YSRCP worker held up during party chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's visit to Palnadu, has created a political controversy, with the Andhra Pradesh Home Minister criticising Jagan over the 'violent' message written on it. Jagan defended the placard, saying it was not meant to be violent and asked, 'So, now you can't even quote a line from a movie?' The placard, held up by YSRCP worker T Raviteja on Wednesday, said: 'When YSRCP comes to power in 2029', and below that, 'rapa rapa narukuta'. The Telugu words were part of a line delivered by Allu Arjun in Pushpa 2. It translates to 'cut them down, one by one'. Police in Palnadu said they registered a case against Raviteja and have taken him into custody. Andhra Pradesh Home Minister V Anitha accused Jagan of encouraging such 'violent' statements. Anitha said the message on the placard implied that if YSRCP comes to power, the heads of TDP leaders and workers would be cut off. 'These YSRCP workers display such violent signs because their leader encourages it and uses such language. It is offensive and a violent threat,'' Anitha said. Jagan hit back, saying that the TDP-led NDA government in the state was finding everything offensive and objectionable. 'So, now you cannot even quote a line from a movie? Are we still living in a democracy?' Jagan also said the YSRCP worker in question was previously with the TDP. 'He got fed up with the unfulfilled promises of the TDP and its leadership and joined the YSRCP, and expressed his resentment. This government finds that offensive,' the former chief minister said. Referring to restrictions put on his visit to Palnadu on Wednesday, and the June 11 attack on his convoy allegedly by TDP workers at Podili, Jagan said on Friday that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was scared about 'failure in governance'. 'His impatience is being manifested in diversion politics and foisting false cases against political opponents,' Jagan said. He also claimed that he had received an overwhelming response to his tours. 'Chandrababu has been showing the traits of a dictator by trying to suppress any dissent and gag the voices of those who question the misuse of police. The modus operandi is to catch the small fry, use coercion to seek confessions and file cases against popular YSRCP leaders, unmindful of the fact that people can see through his game,' Jagan said. Chief Minister Naidu, however, chided Jagan for creating problems for the police during his visit to Rentapalla village in Palnadu district. 'Police gave permission for a few vehicles in Jagan's convoy and for 100 people to gather. Ignoring rules and regulations, he entered narrow lanes and created stampede-like situations. Jagan and YSRCP should remember why people gave them only 11 seats — it is due to this kind of dirty tricks,' Naidu said. The CM also said Jagan was siding with drug peddlers, liquor smugglers, and gamblers, and accused YSRCP leaders of unveiling statues of criminals in villages. On Wednesday, Jagan had visited the residence of former deputy sarpanch Korlakunta Nagamalleswara Rao. YSRCP alleges that he was driven to suicide by harassment from the police and the ruling TDP.
