Pedestrian, 74, dies after hit-run crash in Honolulu

Honolulu police said a 74-year-old woman who was struck in a crosswalk Tuesday by a hit-and-run driver has died.
Police said the pedestrian was struck by an 'unidentified motorist ' as she was trying to cross Makaloa Street at Kaheka Street in the Ala Moana area at about 12 :10 p.m. Tuesday.
The driver fled in an unknown direction, according to the Honolulu Police Department's Traffic Division said. The woman was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office notified HPD today that she had 'succumbed to her injuries, ' police said.
'At this time, speed does not appear to be a contributing factor of this collision, ' HPD said in a news release. 'It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.' HPD did not release a description of the vehicle or the motorist.
Also on Tuesday, three other people were killed in motor vehicle crashes on Oahu—and.
Police said the Makaloa Street hit-and-run crash was Oahu's 37th traffic fatality this year compared with 15 at the same time last year.
An investigation into this hit-and-run collision remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact HPD's Traffic Division at 808-723-3413.

Man fighting for life after being hit by car near pub

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a car in Stockport. Emergency services were called out to Lower Bents Lane, in Bredbury, at 10.20pm last night (June 20). Greater Manchester Police says it was called out to reports of a collision involving a Vauxhall Corsa and a pedestrian, near to The Greyhound pub. Man found dead on Westside Parkway identified

A pedestrian who was struck and killed on the Westside Parkway has been identified by the Kern County Coroner's Office. Zachariah Nathaniel Byrd, 36, of Bakersfield was found deceased in the 5800 block of the parkway at 6:23 a.m. May 3, the coroner's office said Friday. It is not know when he was hit. The Bakersfield Police Department previously reported there was evidence the case was a hit-and-run incident, and officers arrested Tomice Fryman, 51. Kern County Superior Court records show he was charged with second-degree murder, vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, hit and run causing death or permanent serious injury and driving with a suspended or revoked license for DUI. He is next due in court Aug. 19 for a pre-preliminary hearing.
