Capital city Bhubaneswar agog with celebration mood to welcome PM Modi

Bhubaneswar, June 20 (UNI) The capital city of Bhubaneswar is decked up with BJP flags and large cutouts in preparation to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be attending the first anniversary celebrations of the BJP government in Odisha, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) at 3:40 PM from Siwan, Bihar.
Elaborate arrangements have been made to welcome him at the airport, from where he will participate in a roadshow and the Tiranga Yatra on his way to Janata Maidan, the main venue for the anniversary celebrations.
To showcase Odisha's rich cultural heritage, traditional Odia folk music and various dance performances have been arranged at several strategic points along the 8-kilometre route from the airport to Janata Maidan.
According to the official itinerary, Modi will reach Janata Maidan around 4:15 PM to attend the state-level celebration marking one year of the BJP-led Mohan Majhi government.
During the event, the Prime Minister will unveil the Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047 document, outlining a long-term roadmap for the state's development and prosperity. He will also lay the foundation stones and inaugurate several infrastructure projects worth over Rs 18,700 crore, launch new train services, and flag off 100 electric buses.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will launch the Baraputra Sanman scheme, release a booklet on Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya, and felicitate 'Lakhpati Didis' before addressing a large public gathering at Janata Maidan.
Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Deputy Chief Ministers K.V. Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, members of the Council of Ministers, MPs, MLAs, and senior BJP leaders, will attend the event.
The Commissionerate Police have made tight security arrangements and imposed traffic restrictions during the Prime Minister's visit.
A total of 135 police platoons, 16 DCP-rank officers, 33 additional DCPs, 93 ACPs, 100 inspectors, and 450 sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors have been deployed to maintain law and order in the city.
The Odisha government has declared a holiday for all schools under the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation and a half-day holiday for all government offices, revenue, and magisterial courts within the BMC limits.
Ahead of his visit, PM Modi posted on social media platform X, stating that he would be attending events in Odisha, Bihar, and Andhra Pradesh over the next two days.
Modi stated that he looks forward to participating in the special celebration in Bhubaneswar, highlighting the pro-people initiatives of the BJP government in Odisha over the past year.

Bhubaneswar, June 20 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday asserted that Naxalism will soon be completely eradicated from the country, crediting his government's developmental push in tribal areas for the decline in extremist violence. Addressing a gathering on the occasion of the BJP government's first anniversary in Odisha, the Prime Minister said that before 2014, more than 125 tribal-majority districts across India were impacted by Naxalite violence. He pointed out that these tribal regions were long unfairly labeled as part of the 'Red Corridor' and had been neglected by previous governments, which declared them backward and left them behind. 'In the last few years, our government has worked to bring tribal communities out of a climate of violence and onto a path of development,' Modi said. 'We have taken strict action against those who spread violence, and simultaneously, launched a new wave of development in these areas.' As a result, he stated, the influence of Naxalism has now been reduced to fewer than 20 districts across the country. Expressing confidence, Modi said that with the current pace of development and enforcement, tribal areas will soon be entirely free from the shadow of violence. 'This is Modi's guarantee,' he declared. The Prime Minister emphasised that empowering tribal communities, fulfilling their aspirations, and easing their hardships remains a top priority for his government. He highlighted that for the first time, two major national schemes have been launched specifically for tribal development, with a combined outlay exceeding Rs1 lakh crore. Modi elaborated on the first initiative — Dharati Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, under which development work is on in more than 60,000 tribal villages across India. "In Odisha too," he noted, "we are building houses for tribal families, constructing roads, and providing electricity and clean drinking water." Discussing the second major scheme, PM Janman Yojana, the Prime Minister said the inspiration for the initiative came from Odisha itself, and acknowledged the guidance of the country's first tribal woman President, Droupadi Murmu, in shaping the program. He said the scheme focuses on supporting Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), and that development work worth hundreds of crores is currently being carried out in remote tribal hamlets under this scheme. These developments come at a time when Musk's tensions with the U.S. President Donald Trump has been growing in recent times. Tesla's Entry In India After the Starlink launch, now Tesla is set to open its first showroom in India by July in Mumbai. The company is importing its Model Y SUVs from its factory in China. Tesla's first batch of vehicles, comprising five Model Y rear-wheel drive SUVs, has already arrived in India. These vehicles were shipped from Tesla's Shanghai factory. According to Bloomberg News, based on official documents, the Model Y is currently the world's best-selling electric vehicle. Tesla's first showroom will open in Mumbai, likely by mid-July after which another in New Delhi. The company has also imported parts for superchargers, car accessories, and other equipment from the U.S., China, and the Netherlands to support its operations. Tesla Car Pricing The five Model Y SUVs that arrived in Mumbai are priced at Rs 27.7 lakh each. However, due to India's high import duties, over Rs 21 lakh in tariffs have been added to the cost. Fully built imported cars priced under $40,000 are subject to a 70% tariff in India, along with additional charges. Starlink In India Starlink is a satellite internet service developed by SpaceX the American aerospace manufacturer and space transportation company founded in 2002 by the world's richest man Musk. It provides high-speed, low-latency broadband internet worldwide using satellite technology and is aptly described by some as broadband beamed from the skies. Unlike conventional satellite services that rely on distant geostationary satellites, Starlink utilises the world's largest low Earth orbit or LEO constellation (550 km above Earth). This constellation of LEO satellites (7,000 now but eventually set to grow to over 40,000) and its mesh delivers broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, and video calls. Starlink, which had been vying for an India licence for some time now, recently signed pacts with Ambani's Reliance Jio and Mittal's Bharti Airtel, which together control more than 70 per cent of the country's telecom market, to bring the US satellite internet giant's services to India.
