Capital city Bhubaneswar agog with celebration mood to welcome PM Modi
Bhubaneswar, June 20 (UNI) The capital city of Bhubaneswar is decked up with BJP flags and large cutouts in preparation to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be attending the first anniversary celebrations of the BJP government in Odisha, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) at 3:40 PM from Siwan, Bihar. Elaborate arrangements have been made to welcome him at the airport, from where he will participate in a roadshow and the Tiranga Yatra on his way to Janata Maidan, the main venue for the anniversary celebrations. To showcase Odisha's rich cultural heritage, traditional Odia folk music and various dance performances have been arranged at several strategic points along the 8-kilometre route from the airport to Janata Maidan. According to the official itinerary, Modi will reach Janata Maidan around 4:15 PM to attend the state-level celebration marking one year of the BJP-led Mohan Majhi government. During the event, the Prime Minister will unveil the Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047 document, outlining a long-term roadmap for the state's development and prosperity. He will also lay the foundation stones and inaugurate several infrastructure projects worth over Rs 18,700 crore, launch new train services, and flag off 100 electric buses. Additionally, the Prime Minister will launch the Baraputra Sanman scheme, release a booklet on Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya, and felicitate 'Lakhpati Didis' before addressing a large public gathering at Janata Maidan. Half-day holiday in govt offices in capital today
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday declared half-day holiday in all State-run offices, revenue and executive magistrate courts here in view of the possible traffic congestion during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on June 20. According to a notification issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management department, the Prime Minister will visit the State capital on Friday to attend the first anniversary of the BJP government led by Mohan Charan Majhi. 'The second half of the day on June 20 has been declared a holiday for all government offices and revenue and magisterial courts located under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation limits,' the notification said. Earlier, the State government on Wednesday declared closure of all government, government-aided and private schools in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on June 20 in the wake of the Prime Minister's visit. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday visited Janata Maidan, the venue of the State government's first-anniversary celebration to be attended by the Prime Minister. Modi is scheduled to attend the mega event as the chief guest on Friday. Accompanied by Odisha BJP president Manohan Samal, party's State in-charge Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, party's State co-incharge Lata Usendi, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and others, Majhi inspected the venue and directed officials to ensure that all arrangements are made flawless, especially those concerning the Prime Minister's visit. He instructed that all necessary work must be completed by Thursday late evening. DGP Y B Khurania and Additional Chief Secretary, Industries department, Hemant Sharma, briefed the Chief Minister about the detailed preparations made for the event. Samal said the Prime Minister will launch development projects worth Rs 19,000 crore during the event. He said around two lakh people may congregate in the city to attend the State government's anniversary function and listen to the Prime Minister. Police Commissioner S Dev Dutta Singh said police have made elaborate arrangements as large number of people will gather at the meeting venue at Janata Maidan. Official sources said the Prime Minister will arrive in Bhubaneswar at 3.40 pm, hold a roadshow and participate in a 'Tiranga Yatra' on the way to Janata Maidan. He will reach the venue by 4.15 pm to attend the programme, which is expected to continue till 5.30 pm. He will leave the venue at 5.35 pm and reach the airport at 5.45 pm.
