Aaron Taylor-Johnson Fuels Bond Rumours With This Awkward 28 Years Later Red Carpet Moment
Aaron Taylor-Johnson… will you just spill already?
It's now been well over a year since speculation went into overdrive about whether the Bullet Train actor would be taking over the role of James Bond in the iconic spy franchise, following Daniel Craig's final outing in 2021's No Time To Die.
It seemed we finally had our answer in March 2024 when an unnamed 'source' told The Sun that the Tenet star had been offered the gig. However, this was then cast into doubt just one day later, when a 'production insider' told BBC News there was 'no truth in the rumours'.
Despite the ongoing mystery, Aaron is hardly helping put our racing minds to rest.
Appearing on the red carpet at the world premiere of his new film 28 Years Later in London on Wednesday, the actor was asked by Deadline what he was up to next.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson declined answering a question about what he's doing next during the #28YearsLater world premiere. 'I can't talk about it,' he said as he was being escorted away pic.twitter.com/KI2t1DjhaN
— Deadline (@DEADLINE) June 18, 2025
He coyly replied that he 'can't talk about it' before being whisked away by a member of his publicity team.
But while neither party actually mentioned James Bond, Aaron's response had everyone in agreement that he was only adding more fuel to the speculation fire…

This isn't the first time Aaron has been faced with questions about the next phase of his career by reporters, after he repeatedly dodged the topic of playing 007 in several interviews.
Even his red carpet appearance at the Venice Film Festival last September seemed to point to the fact that he was next in line to play Bond.
If he is, indeed, taking the reins in the legendary franchise, he's already received the seal of approval from two former 007s.
Meanwhile, fans think they spotted a seriously big clue last month about Aaron, that might just be the James Bond confirmation we've all been waiting for.
Besides Aaron, there have been numerous other British stars are reported to be in the running for the highly coveted role, from Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Richard Madden and even Harry Styles.

Kim Cattrall Turned Down ‘Sex And The City' Role 4 Times Due To 'Self-Inflicted Ageism'
It might seem impossible to imagine anyone other than Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones, but the now iconic character initially took her some convincing. The Golden Globe winner recently revealed that she turned down the part in HBO's Sex and the City four times before signing on due to 'self-inflicted ageism' over being 41 in such a sexually confident role. More from Deadline Kim Cattrall Kindly Shuts Down 'And Just Like That' Season 3 Return Rumors 'And Just Like That …' Season 3: Everything We Know So Far Sarah Jessica Parker Asks Why Fans "Judge Women" Characters For Mistakes But "Not Men" 'Well, that changed — 40 became sexy. It became, 'Man, let's have more of that,' she explained to The Times of what persuaded her. 'She wasn't a nymphomaniac — well, some people might have thought she was — but she was just enjoying the main course. Everyone else was nibbling on the appetisers when she was going for the steak. And it was always on her terms — that I always insisted on,' added Cattrall. 'But I'm the antithesis of her [Samantha] in many ways. I'm a serial monogamist, and then some.' Cattrall said of the beloved role, 'I created a fantastic character that I loved, and I put a lot of love in it. And if I'm remembered only for that, then that's really OK.' Based on Candace Bushnell's New York Observer column, Sex and the City ran for six seasons on HBO from 1998 to 2004, followed by two theatrically-released feature films in 2008 and 2010, as well as the CW prequel series The Carrie Diaries (2013-'14). The sequel series And Just Like That… debuted on HBO Max in 2021, kicking off its third season on May 29. After opening up about her behind-the-scenes differences with co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, Cattrall opted not to reunite with Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis in And Just Like That…, but she still graced fans with a brief Samantha appearance in the Season 2 finale after Deadline reported the cameo back in 2023. It Starts On The Page (Limited): Read ‘Black Mirror' Episode 705 Script 'Eulogy' With Foreword By Charlie Brooker
Editor's note: Deadline's It Starts on the Page (Limited) features 10 standout limited or anthology series scripts in 2025 Emmy contention. In Season 7 of Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror, the dystopian sci-fi anthology series for Netflix continues to evolve the increasingly real tech depicted, especially the growing applications and implications of AI from Hollywood to everyday life. More from Deadline 'Black Mirror' Creator Charlie Brooker On 'USS Callister' Sequel, Paying Homage To Black-And-White Movies & Watching AI With 'Impressed Awe & Rising Horror' Carla Gugino Joins Brad Pitt In 'Cliff Booth' Movie From Netflix And David Fincher Teyana Taylor, Ben Marshall, Zach Cherry & Kam Patterson Join Netflix's Kevin Hart Comedy '72 Hours' Written by Brooker and Ella Road and directed by Chris Barrett and Luke Taylor, the season's fifth episode, 'Eulogy', stars Paul Giamatti as Phillip, a man contacted by a tech company called Eulogy, informing him of the death of his ex-girlfriend Carol and seeking to collect immersive photo memories. With the help of The Guide (Patsy Ferran), Phillip is able to use technology to walk through his memories. As none of the photos are usable, with Carol's image defaced in each, Phillip is left with only the painful memories of their downfall as he struggles to remember their good times. Meanwhile, the mysterious Guide helps him uncover a buried truth about his former relationship. Here is the script for 'Eulogy' with an intro by Brooker, in which he discusses how he got to collaborate with Road on the 'bittersweet and heartbroken' love story, shares the initial inspiration for the episode reflected in Carol's name, and reveals how Giamatti's casting changed the original plan for the character. Why do old photos feel more evocative than anything taken in today's smartphone-and-photostream era? I think it's a combination of scarcity and imperfection. Pre 2010 or so, you might have had a handful of snapshots to cover an entire decade of your life – and many of them would've been a little blurred, or out of focus, filled with red-eye and half-obscured by thumbs. The flaws make them more evocative somehow. That's why if I ran Apple – which just to be clear I don't – I'd implement an optional mode that automatically limits the number of photos you can take on any given day and randomly degrades them into the bargain, to make revisiting them later a more rewarding experience. Our episode 'Eulogy' came about after Black Mirror EP Jessica Rhoades read Ella Road's play The Phlebotomist and suggested her as a potential co-conspirator. Ella and I sat down for a long lunch and discussed areas we were interested in, stress-testing them as potential Black Mirror stories. We quickly zeroed in on memory, particularly how old photographs and music can evoke a time and place. The idea of using tech to throw someone inside a set of old images soon followed — with the aim being to create a 'cathartic, therapeutic tearjerker.' At first it was a little like Dickens' A Christmas Carol – hence Philip's lost love being literally named Carol. We pictured Philip being led through memories which played out around him in real time, with conversations and arguments and people storming out of rooms. But that began to feel a little TOO Christmas Carol. Keeping everyone frozen in place not only kept it focussed (and more eerie), it fundamentally shifted the story, into a tight, high-concept two-hander in which Philip chases a forgotten memory of Carol's face. We always knew there would be a transatlantic element to the story; originally Philip was a gruff Mancunian while The Guide was American. When we discussed casting Paul Giamatti's name was mentioned, and I almost leapt out of my chair — he's one of my favourite actors of all time. So we flipped it, retooling the character in his image. Unbeknownst to me, Paul was a fan of the show. He said when he read the script, knowing this was Black Mirror, he was waiting for some horrendous shoe to drop. But that's not what happens. This is a love story. It's bittersweet and heartbroken. But ultimately it's kind to its inhabitants. Paul and co-star Patsy Ferran knocked it out of the park, as did directing duo Chris Barrett and Luke Taylor. The ending hits me like a bus every single time I see it. Mission accomplished. Charlie Brooker Black Mirror's Emmy haul so far includes three wins for Outstanding TV Movie and two writing trophies out of three nominations. Read the script below. Carrie Preston Teases Her ‘Elsbeth' Guest Star Wish List: 'Pretty Much Everybody On Broadway'
After reuniting with some of Elsbeth's biggest guests for a star-studded musical Season 2 finale, Carrie Preston is ready to apprehend more of the Great White Way. While attending last weekend's 78th Tony Awards, the Emmy-winning actress teased who from Broadway she'd like to work with on an upcoming season of the CBS procedural comedy drama. More from Deadline 'Elsbeth' Boss & Carrie Preston Talk Big Musical Finale, Saying Goodbye To Kaya As She Pivots To New Job 'Elsbeth' Boss Talks Kaya's Shocking Promotion As Carra Patterson Pivots To Guest Star, Christine Baranski, & Musical Season Finale Mariel Molino & Austin Stowell On Their Hopes For 'NCIS: Origins', The Big Season 1 Scenes & Who Should Play The Older Lala 'There's so many people on this red carpet that I've met tonight or that I know. I always ask them, 'Do you wanna be on the show? Because I'll pass it along,'' she told Us Weekly at the awards show. Preston added, 'So I saw Brooke Shields tonight. I saw Celia Keenan-Bolger tonight. Of course Cole Escola. I'd like to see if we can round up pretty much everybody on Broadway and get them on.' The interview came shortly before Escola made history as the first openly non-binary Tony Winner, taking home Lead Actor in a Play for their hilarious take on Mary Todd Lincoln in Oh, Mary!, which they also wrote. Elsebeth's Season 2 finale 'Ramen Holiday' brought back guest stars Stephen Moyer, Retta, Gina Gershon, Elizabeth Lail, Arian Moayed, André De Shields, Alyssa Milano, Mary-Louise Parker and Ethan Slater for the musical episode. 'We were trying to get maybe four of these guest stars, but we got eight,' Preston previously told Deadline. 'They wanted to come back and play with us, which was such an honor. It just meant the world to me that they wanted to be a part of it, and they were all so game.' Executive producer Jonathan Tolins told Deadline of the episode's Chicago tribute, 'The two hardest parts were the scheduling and waiting to be granted the rights to use the 'Cell Block Tango'. We prepared as if they were going to say yes, and fortunately, in the end, they did, because we went a long way on a limb getting ready for it, and getting the number together.'
