BBC Breakfast boss takes ‘extended leave' after bullying claims
The editor of BBC Breakfast, Richard Frediani, is taking an extended period of leave after allegations of bullying behaviour. It comes after the Sun and Deadline reported that an internal investigation is being carried out into allegations of bullying at the program. In March, Deadline reported that a minimum of two misconduct complaints had been made against Frediani. One complaint alleged that the editor physically shook a colleague during an interaction in the newsroom in 2024. More recently, Deadline also reported that BBC presenterNaga Munchetty had raised concerns with senior BBC figures regarding Frediani's conduct. In addition, some ITN employees were said to have described Frediani as a 'bully,' alleging that he had shouted at, sworn at, and intimidated colleagues. Sources told the outlet that multiple complaints had been submitted by staff members about his workplace conduct. The publication further reported that newsreader Tina Daheley had expressed reservations about working on News at One, a programme overseen by Frediani. She had originally been named as one of the bulletin's presenters before its relocation from London to Salford in May. Daheley has continued in her role as a newsreader on Radio 2 in London and was reportedly 'understandably very cross' when her photograph was omitted from a BBC press release about the scheduling changes. While the omission added to internal frustration, there is no suggestion that Frediani was responsible for the error. When contacted for comment, a BBC spokesperson told Metro: 'While we do not comment on individual cases, we take all complaints about conduct at work extremely seriously and will not tolerate behaviour that is not in line with our values. 'We have robust processes in place and would encourage any staff with concerns to raise them directly with us so they can be addressed.' It was also previously reported BBC presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt had no relationship with Frediani due to the allegations. Frediani has been named in reports about bullying behaviour at ITN and BBC by Deadline, an industry website, and it was then claimed that he has a soured relationship with the BBC presenters. More Trending A senior BBC figure in Salford has said that he has 'no relationship with the stars'. 'Fredi has no relationship with Charlie and Naga, which is weird when they are half of his frontline presenting roster,' the source told The Times. Frediani has been the head of the program, which is broadcast daily from Salford, since 2019, and is also editor of the News at One. Last month, he accepted a Bafta Award when the show won best TV news coverage for an episode about the Post Office scandal. Got a story? Aaron Taylor-Johnson breaks silence on James Bond role at 28 Years Later premiere
Aaron Taylor Johnson was asked about his next project at the premiere of his latest film, 28 Years Later Aaron Taylor-Johnson has a lot to live up to as the star of 28 Years Later. He follows on from incredible performances by Cillian Murphy in 28 Days Later and Scots actor Robert Carlyle in the sometimes forgotten sequel, 28 Weeks Later. However, no matter how good the Bullet Train star is in the new Danny Boyle-directed zombie film, it's what he's up to next that is on everyone's mind. For years, Taylor-Johnson has been rumoured to be the next James Bond and the actor has now finally broken his silence on whether or not this is actually going to happen. During a brief interview on the red carpet for 28 Years Later, the 35 year old was asked directly by Deadline what his next project is. The actor gave a coy smile and simply replied "I can't talk about it" before turning away from the interviewer. The brief interaction was posted on X, with many social media users claiming that his refusal to speak could mean he has secured the role as the next 007 and is hinting at it by saying he "can't talk about it". One user replied: "He's my number one hope for the next James Bond. Really hoping for a solid 10-15 years of him in that role." Another echoed: "James Bond baby." A third chimed in: "Please let it be Bond." Someone else agreed: "Bond... James Bond #Bond26." Meanwhile, another wrote: "Bond confirmed then." A fifth suggested: "Either Bond or back for Avengers." Another person agreed with this theory, adding: "This will mean he's doing a Marvel thing then." It's plausible the star could be involved in a different franchise, having been the original Quicksilver in the Marvel Universe. Other fan suggestions of his next secret project include a Bullet Train prequel or even Kick Ass 3. However, the idea that's he is the next James Bond is starting to feel a lot more possible. The new 007 film is currently in development by Amazon/MGM. Producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman are prepping the film in London and while rumours are still flying about who may be the next Bond, Taylor-Johnson remains the favourite. The actor's latest film 28 Years Later sees Taylor-Johnson and Jodie Comer taking the leading roles as a husband and pregnant wife named Jamie and Isla, alongside their son Spike. The third instalment in the 28 Days Later series is set nearly three decades after the Rage Virus outbreak and follows a group of survivors living on the tidal island of Lindisfarne. Despite not even being released in cinemas yet, the film has already received glowing reviews from critics with an impressive 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This rating surpasses the original 28 Days Later hit film (2002), starring Cillian Murphy, which holds a Certified Fresh score of 87%. Additionally, the movie had a critics' score of 72% and an audience score of 66%. 28 Years Later is in cinemas from June 20
