Three men arrested in ‘chaotic' fight

Police in Barrie arrested and charged three men after responding to a fight in the south end of the city Tuesday night.
According to the Barrie Police Service (BPS), officers received a report about two men fighting near Mapleview Drive East and Huronia Road, and that weapons might have been involved.
One of the men was arrested as soon as the officers arrived at the scene, and police say he made threats toward the officers as they were taking him into custody.
The second man allegedly fled into a wooden area before being located and arrested by the BPS Canine Unit.
Additional information police say they obtained involved a third man and a woman who were unknown, and that they may have taken two of the first man's children.
Police say the officers eventually ended up at a home on Shalom Way where they found the children unharmed and arrested the third man and woman.
Then, due to what police describe as 'complex' issues prior to and after their arrest, the duo was hospitalized for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation continued with the help of detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division.
Through the information they gathered, police say they learned that the four adults were all known to each other, spending that afternoon together before deciding to walk to a convenience store with the children.
Police later confirmed that the initial fight was found to be consensual, and no weapons were involved. However, a spokesperson from the BPS told CTV News that alcohol was 'more than likely' a contributing factor.
The two men in the initial fight were each charged with two counts of causing a disturbance by fighting.
The first man was also charged with two counts of uttering threats for his alleged actions toward the arresting officers.
The third man who was found at the Shalom Way home was charged with two counts of obstructing police and was held for a bail hearing.
The woman was released unconditionally.

'There was a lot of shock, and they couldn't contact family members that were still not at the beach or at home. It was a really, scary situation.' According to Cordeiro, the girl was looking for her phone after getting out of the water to call for help. Another witness said the father helped push her toward shore before going under. 'It breaks my heart,' Cordeiro added. 'I'm here with my kids and my husband was here, and we're probably the same age.' 'When we got here today earlier this morning [the waves] were about a good solid metre and a half, and I noticed that the water was really cold. It's a bad mix for people going out there getting too cold and then getting extra tired. Where when the waves are warm, people can swim out there longer without getting as tired.' Decorte echoed that sentiment, 'With the water not being warm yet, it's hard to swim in,' he said. 'So maybe that played some of the part too in the waves.' Early in the evening, OPP brought ATVs to use on the long stretch of beach as the search continues.

Woman charged with breaking into Tecumseh home after call from concerned citizen

Officers were dispatched to a suspected break and enter on Centennial Drive at 5:40 p.m. on Friday. When an officer arrived on scene, they located a person matching the description, the individual attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody. As a result of the investigation, the Windsor woman was arrested and charged with the following offences: Break and Enter - Place, with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence Resist Peace Officer Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on July 23. Police search for suspect believed to be involved in string of Halifax break-ins
Halifax police are looking for a suspect in a string of break-ins. (Source: Halifax Regional Police) Police in Halifax are searching for a man they believe is involved in a string on break and enters. According to police, several residences in the 2500 block of Summer Street were broken into and had items stolen between June 13 and 16. Police describe the suspect as a man wearing eyeglasses, a dark jacket, a white hoodie, dark pants, black and white shoes and a white baseball cap or bucket-style hat. The suspect is believed to be the same suspect involved in another string of break-ins in the 200 block of Waterfront Drive in Bedford between June 6 and 8.
