Wydad Athletic Club of Casablanca bowed out of the FIFA Club World Cup following a 4–1 loss to Italian side Juventus. The match was held this evening at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, USA, as part of the second round of the group stage.
Juventus opened the scoring early in the 6th minute through Turkish forward Kenan Yıldız, whose shot deflected off Wydad defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil and into the net. Yıldız struck again in the 16th minute, doubling the lead for the «Old Lady».
Wydad responded in the 25th minute, narrowing the gap with a well-placed goal from South African Themba Zwane, set up by a precise pass from Nordin Amrabat.
Juventus maintained pressure into the second half, with Yıldız completing his hat trick in the 69th minute after dribbling past defenders and slotting the ball into the far corner beyond the goalkeeper's reach.
In the fourth minute of stoppage time, substitute striker Dušan Vlahović sealed the victory with a goal from the penalty spot.
This second defeat, following their initial loss to Manchester City, means Wydad Casablanca is officially eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup at the group stage. They will face UAE club Al Ain next Thursday in what will be a dead rubber.

Juventus Clinches 4-1 Victory Over Wydad in Decisive FIFA Club World Cup Match
Rabat – Juventus won its game against Wydad Casablanca in a decisive Group G match at the FIFA Club World Cup, as the Moroccan club continues to struggle in a challenging campaign. Juventus controlled the match with 4-1, but Wydad Casablanca certainly maintained flashes of attempts and quality. The first three goals in the match were scored by Juventus forward K. Yildiz, who made several dangerous attempts and plays throughout the game. However, FIFA officially recorded one of the goals as an own goal by Wydad defender Abdelnouaim Boutouil, who was positioned close to the goal area and is believed to have made contact with the ball as Yildiz's shot came through in the sixth minute of the game. Wydad Casablanca scored its first and only goal in the match and the tournament in the 25th minute of the game through Thembinkosi Lorch. The goal came after a stunning assist from FIFA World Cup 2022 semifinalist Nordin Amrabat. Juventus' fourth goal came as a penalty in the last minutes of the game. The match proved to be dramatic as Juventus continued its relentless attacks on one end and Wydad felt the weight of pressure. The club's goalkeeper, El Mehdi Benabid, made several crucial saves, keeping his team in the game, preventing multiple goals from finding the net. Benabid's heroic performance, however, was not enough to spare Wydad from another defeat. Wydad Casablanca showed the same resilience against English giant Manchester City earlier this week on Wednesday. While the national club suffered a 2-0 defeat in its opener match, it was celebrated for its quality of play, particularly the coach's performance. El Mehdi Benabid rescued his team from decisive and strong strikes from Erling Haaland and many other superstars from Manchester City. Meanwhile, Nordin Amrabat led a successful defense campaign, contributing to the club's fierce response to tackle Manchester City's counterattacks. Tags: 2025 FIFA Club World CupWydad AC

AS Roma Sets Sights on Nayef Aguerd for Key Summer Transfer
Rabat – Nayef Aguerd, the 29-year-old Moroccan central defender currently contracted to West Ham United, is entering a critical phase in his career this summer. After a strong season on loan at Real Sociedad, Aguerd has caught the attention of several major European clubs, with AS Roma leading the chase. According to multiple Italian media outlets, AS Roma has made Aguerd a top priority to strengthen their defense. The club's new sporting director, Frédéric Massara, views Aguerd as the perfect fit to bolster Roma's backline. Reports indicate that Roma has already submitted an initial offer to West Ham . However, the capital club faces stiff competition, notably from Juventus, which is reportedly in advanced talks with West Ham to secure the Moroccan international. Marseille is also interested in the defender, but the French club's preference for a loan deal, driven by financial constraints, places them at a disadvantage compared to the Italian sides ready to make a full investment. During the recent season, Aguerd featured in 36 matches across La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Europa League for Real Sociedad . Known for his physical presence as well as his ability to build play from the back, Aguerd remains a key player for Morocco's Atlas Lions, with over 55 international caps. Other clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen and Atlético Madrid have also shown interest, keeping the competition fierce. The coming weeks are expected to be decisive for Aguerd's future, as Europe's top clubs vie for the talented defender who emerged from the Mohammed VI Academy.
