Prior to the Italian club's match against Al Ain, several players and coaches took a trip to the White House to meet with President Trump. Although it wasn't necessary, Trump asked Juventus players for their view on transgender athletes. He kicked off the conversation by saying, "Could a woman make your team, fellas?" Juventus general manager Damien Comolli replied, "We have a very good women's team." That led to another interesting comment from Trump. "You do, but they should be playing with women," Trump said. "He's being very diplomatic." Juventus beats Al Ain, leapfrogs Manchester City in group standings

Muani, who extended his loan from Paris Saint-Germain to play in the tournament in the US, opened the scoring after 11 minutes with a towering header from Alberto Costa's cross. Igor Tudor's Juventus doubled the lead 10 minutes later when Conceicao, on loan from Porto, skipped away from one defender in the box before firing home with the help of a deflection. Turkish forward Kenan Yildiz netted the third after 31 minutes, carving out some space on the edge of the box and drilling in at the near post. French striker Kolo Muani grabbed his second with a deft finish in first-half stoppage time to pile on the misery for Al Ain. Kouame Autonne had a goal disallowed for offside for the UAE side before Conceicao struck again, benefitting from another slight deflection. Muani might have completed his hat-trick when sent through but goalkeeper Rui Patricio shut him down well, and Douglas Luiz blasted narrowly off-target late on. Sunderland close to appointing Roma's Florent Ghisolfi as director of football
Sunderland are close to appointing Florent Ghisolfi as the club's director of football. Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman will remain at newly-promoted Sunderland and will work alongside Ghisolfi, who was Roma's sporting director for 2024-25. Ghisolfi had interest from other clubs including Newcastle United, who are assessing candidates to succeed outgoing sporting director Paul Mitchell, with interest also from Juventus, Fiorentina and Saudi Arabia. Advertisement A former midfielder, Ghisolfi led Roma to a top-five finish in Serie A for the first time in five seasons last term, missing out on Champions League qualification to Juventus by one point. The 40-year-old, who decided to leave Roma this summer, had his first sporting director role at Lens, who won promotion back to Ligue 1 during his time at the club before later qualifying for the Champions League. Ghisolfi worked at Nice with INEOS between 2022 and 2024, where head coach Francesco Farioli had wished to retain his services before Roma saw off interest from Monaco to secure his signature last summer. It is the 29-year-old Cuesta's first role as a head coach after spending the past five years as an assistant at English Premier League club Arsenal. Kenan Yildiz is probably Juventus' best player at the moment and that was in full display with him scoring a brace against Al-Ain in the club's 5-0 win in their inaugural Club World Cup match. However this also means that he has interest from other big clubs. Juventus though want to tie him down and be a leading player in the present as well as long term. Meanwhile, the club are looking at young attackers who could grow alongside Yildiz and become protagonists themselves. Mikey Moore of Tottenham Hotspur is a name that has been touted as an option as per Gazzetta dello Sport. He is widely considered as one of the best English talents around. Advertisement Although he's 17, many believe that he should have already featured a lot more for Tottenham than he already has. If this issue continues persisting under new manager Thomas Frank, then a move cannot be ruled out for the player who has a contract till 2027. Also on the list is Monaco's Eliesse Ben Seghir. The Moroccan made a great impression in what was his first real season in senior football and has a lot of clubs monitoring him.
