Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls: When can you expect the 4v4 tag team fighter to go live?

Hindustan Times05-06-2025

Sony's latest State of Play showcase has revealed the most unexpected. While rumours have swirled for years about a stage fighter game from Marvel, few expected Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Soul from Arc System Works, the masters behind Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Even more shocking? This time, it's not Capcom holding the reins.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is slated for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC, but the exact dates are not confirmed yet. Unlike the classic Marvel vs. Capcom series, Tōkon will be more welcoming, like the Marvel Rivals.
'From the beginning, we aimed to make MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls a title that could be enjoyed by a wide variety of players,' said Kazuto 'Pachi' Sekine, Director/Battle Director at Arc System Works.
'Generally, a team VS fighting game requires the player to learn multiple characters, but for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, you only need to master one character in order to play the game.'
'We have designed the mechanics in such a way that you can perform a variety of actions with either traditional fighting game inputs or simple inputs. With the press of a few buttons, multiple characters can appear on screen to provide backup or attack together—creating a new and exciting team VS battle experience,' he added.

PlayStation Blog confirms the collab between Marvel Games, Arc System Works, and PlayStation Studios will feature classic comic book characters such as Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Storm, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and Ghost Rider.
'The inspiration for working on this project really came from a place of pure fandom, and wanting to say, 'Why isn't PlayStation in this space?'' said Reed Baird, Senior Producer at PlayStation Studios XDEV, per PlayStation Blog.
'So PlayStation approached us with this vision to bring Marvel back to the forefront of the tag fighting genre. And that got us really excited, because we had worked with them before on successful stuff like the Marvel's Spider-Man franchise with Insomniac,' Michael Francisco, Sr. Product Development Manager at Marvel Games, echoed the same.

Notably, the last time we saw a Marvel-focused tag fighting game was Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite in 2017, which honestly didn't land well with fans.

"I feel like a total fraud": Charlie Cox downplays his contribution, giving candid response to his Clair Obscur Expedition 33 success

(Image via Getty Images) Charlie Cox , popularly known as Marvel's Daredevil, made an unexpected mark within gaming with his Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's role. Despite him voicing the key character in the surprising 2025 game hit, Cox offered a disarmingly modest take on his involvement. He stunned the fans with a remarkably humble reaction, as he received all praise for his role in the game's success. The candid comments shared by him reveal an unexpected perspective on the game's acclaim. Charlie Cox gives an unexpectedly humble reaction to his Clair Obscur Expedition 33 role When fans and critics continued praising Charlie Cox's role in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the Daredevil star was caught off-guard. In one of the recent interviews, Cox didn't hold back feelings about all the praise coming his way. The actor confesses openly, "People keep saying how amazing it and congratulations and I feel like a total fraud." His honesty stems from his limited contribution—via voice recording and the lack of gaming experience. — bursinxmurdock (@bursinxmurdock) The star further added that his role was confined to a single and brief recording session that lasted only about 4 hours. "My agent asked me if I wanted to go and do a voice-over. I was in the studio for 4 hours… maybe," he stated. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dhamrai: Scholarships You Can Apply For (Start Now) Google Search Search Now Undo Despite the modesty shown by Cox, Gustave's role has been praised widely; after all, it adds an emotional depth to the protagonist of the game. As he has not played this critically acclaimed game, an overwhelmingly positive response caught him off-guard. He was thrilled about the achievement of the development team. A low-key role proved to be more in this breakout hit Unlike some big-budget games that go on and on with months of promotion, Cox was actually not a part of Expedition 33 marketing push. During its release, he was actually busy filming 'Daredevil: Born Again.' It left very little time for him to do the game-related press. Such lack of visibility led many fans to mistake Gustave's voice for another actor's, adding to Cox's fraudulent remark. Yet, the performance of the Daredevil star stood out. Some of his co-stars, including Ben Starr and Andy Serkis, praised Cox for his commitment. They said they are all not just tourists in the game. Despite a very brief recording time, Cox was able to deliver a gripping portrayal that helped elevate Expedition 33 to be Game of the Year contender. Developed by Sandfall Interactive, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has defied expectations. With the hybrid combat system and unique art style, the game has become a surprise hit. The game proves that even a small role can create a lasting impression with the emotional core of the story that was brought in by Coxs Gustave. While Cox might downplay contributions and feel like an accidental star, the fans and the critical do disagree. With the success of the game, Expedition 33 is a standout title today, and it opens the door for many more Hollywood talent to join in on gaming—especially after Cox's performance. Director Basil Joseph dismisses rumours of Allu Arjun replacing Ranveer Singh as Shaktimaan in film reboot: ‘Whoever is spreading these…'

For late millennials and early Gen Zers, the Hindi superhero television series Shaktimaan is not just a fond memory but a defining part of their childhood. So, when reports emerged that a film adaptation of Shaktimaan was in the works, the child in every now-adult fan was ecstatic. However, since then, the project has mostly made headlines for the wrong reasons, particularly due to heavy-handed statements from the TV show's creator Mukesh Khanna. Although rumours have been rife that Minnal Murali director and Malayalam actor Basil Joseph would helm the project, with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh in the titular role, Mukesh Khanna has firmly denied the latter part time and again, stating that Ranveer 'doesn't have the correct face' for the character. Recently, another rumour surfaced suggesting that Telugu superstar Allu Arjun had replaced Ranveer Singh in the upcoming film reboot. Interestingly, Mukesh had once acknowledged that Arjun 'has it in him to be Shaktimaan'. While Arjun's fans were thrilled by the speculation, Basil Joseph has categorically denied the reports, reiterating that Ranveer Singh remains the only choice for the character. 'Shaktimaan will be made only with Ranveer Singh,' senior film journalist Subhash K Jha quoted Basil as saying. A source close to the project echoed this sentiment and told Jha, 'No one else is doing Shaktimaan. It is Ranveer Singh and no one else. Whoever is spreading rumours of his replacement clearly has their own agenda.' Now, it needs to be seen what Mukesh Khanna's response to this would be, particularly since he has repeatedly asserted that Ranveer Singh is not suited for the role. 'People know that Ranveer Singh came to convince me for allowing him to reprise the role of Shaktiman. I can't hide it also because later people said that I lauded Ranveer and called him a terrific actor. News of Ranveer being confirmed to play Shaktiman started coming but I hadn't agreed to it. I also have a conflict with Sony and I had put up a video clarifying that I haven't approved Ranveer to play the role and the reason is that…Ranveer sat in front of me that day for 3 hours but ultimately I had to tell him that what needs to be seen on his face wasn't there. He looks playful, like someone who would trick others,' he told Bollywood Thikana in September last year. However, his repeated comments sparked controversy, prompting Mukesh to clarify that he meant no disrespect towards Ranveer. At a press conference, when asked whether he made Ranveer wait at his office for hours, the Shaktimaan actor responded, 'No. I didn't force him to wait. He sat for three hours because he wanted to. He came to my office, we enjoyed each other's company. He's a terrific actor, he has terrific energy. But I decide who plays Shaktimaan. Producers cast actors, an actor can't cast a producer. You come to my office and say that you want to be Shaktimaan, it's not allowed!' Also, let me go out on a limb and say that he has it in him to be Shaktimaan. I am not saying he is doing it or anything. I'm just suggesting that it would look good on him. He has the personality to pull it off.'
