Whether you know him as Sofyank96 or by his real name, Sofian, the local visual effects (VFX) artist has certainly come a long way since his early days of content creation. With an impressive résumé that includes producing spectacular promotional videos for films and collaborations with Hollywood stars such as Paul Rudd and Tom Cruise, there's little doubt that the 28-year-old is well on his way to achieving his dream of making it big. It looks like he'll be adding another Hollywood collaboration to his portfolio. Earlier this week, the local content creator teased his followers that he was heading to the Philippines to work on a promotional video with a very 'super' actor, who is set to release his upcoming film later this year. 'I'll be flying to the Philippines to film a new collaboration with an actor from an upcoming superhero film! Any guesses who it is?' Sofian captioned a photo of himself at the airport on Instagram. With several titles announced this year, many speculated it could be either Marvel's 'Fantastic Four' or DC's 'Superman'. However, the answer was officially revealed yesterday (Thursday, 19th June). The Malaysian VFX artist posted a Reel on his Instagram, showing him walking down a street in formal attire while reading a newspaper. Suddenly, beams of light, possibly missiles, appeared in the sky, with one striking a section of the building directly above him and several civilians. Sofian sprang into action, shielding the bystanders from the falling debris with his body before flying off, as the camera panned to reveal the iconic 'S' symbol in the sky. If that wasn't obvious enough, the influencer confirmed the exciting news in his caption, writing: 'I had the opportunity to join the 'Superman' movie junket in the Philippines. Soon, I'll be filming content with Superman himself, David Corenswet. Pray that everything goes smoothly.' As expected, Malaysians expressed their excitement over Sofian's achievement, praising him for representing the country on an international stage. Some even joked that the content creator collaborating with Hollywood stars is akin to Thanos collecting the Infinity Stones in 'Avengers: Infinity War' and 'Avengers: Endgame.' Others quipped that it was Superman who was lucky to be meeting Sofian, joking that the iconic 'S' symbol actually stands for the first letter of the Malaysian star's name. By Don Morton A painless viewing experience When the new love (Amber Midthunder) of a mild-mannered bank assistant manager (Jack Quaid) is kidnapped, he brushes off his 'superpower' and leaps to the rescue. You see, he suffers from something called congenital analgesia (a real thing), preventing him from feeling any sort of pain. I had fun with this slapstick romantic actioner, but it's far from perfect. You can't say the directors, Dan Berk & Robert Olsen, haven't explored every possible aspect of an unfeeling action hero, and the earlier, rom-com scenes are above average and charming. (Fun fact: If Jack's goofy grin and infectious cheerfulness seem familiar, it's because he's the son of none other than Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan.) On the whole, it's surprisingly relatable and deeper than you may think. But the latter, admittedly inventive action and fight scenes get unnecessarily violent and gory. The directing duo's previous work (Significant Other, Villains, Body) are all in the cheapo horror genre. The third act drags on forever, and the villains are not all that threatening. I wouldn't mind if this turned out to be an origin story. I'd watch a sequel before most big-budget Marvel flicks. But the directors need to leave the gore behind and grow up a bit. (110 min)

When Black Panther: Wakanda Forever came out in fall 2022, the Ryan Coogler-directed film introduced Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a teenage MIT student whose brilliance created a vibranium detector. Now, the character is debuting in her own streaming TV show: Ironheart. Pulled from Marvel's comic books, the young inventor possesses genius-level intelligence and found Tony Stark an inspiration. Riri's gift for robotics led her to make an armored suit that's been compared to Iron Man's, and they both were driven to serve mankind. The show sees her return to Chicago after the events of Wakanda Forever (where she helped battle Namor alongside Shuri), and viewers will see her tech take on magic when The Hood (played by Anthony Ramos) arrives on the scene in the upcoming new series. In addition to Thorne and Ramos, the cast also features Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Anji White, Regan Aliyah, and Manny Montana. Coogler and Kevin Feige are among the series' executive producers. Nearly three decades after Spider-Man: The Animated Series ended on a multiverse-sized cliffhanger, fans are finally getting the continuation they've waited for, just not on TV. Instead, Marvel is reviving that beloved version of Peter Parker in Spider-Man '94 , a brand-new four-issue comic that picks up right where the animated series left off. IGN broke the news that Spider-Man '94 will act as a direct sequel to the classic 1994 Fox Kids cartoon, bringing back the world, tone, and storyline that ended with Spider-Man swinging into the unknown in search of the real Mary Jane Watson. Well, according to this comic, he found her. Here's Marvel's official tease: 'After searching to the ends of the Multiverse, PETER PARKER – the AMAZING, the SPECTACULAR, the RADIOACTIVE Web-Head himself – A.K.A. SPIDER-MAN, swings back into the streets of New York City with his beloved Mary Jane WATSON in tow! But what's this? In a story about Marvel's 2028 release dates, it was speculated that the "X-Men" reboot could be one of the features scheduled for the year. It was mentioned that Jake Schreier had been chosen as the director for the film, though this is the first time that's been confirmed. Few fans, on the other hand, were on the edge of their seat to see the next movie with Red Guardian. Now that we know who will be helming the first MCU "X-Men" film, we still need to wait to learn exactly who will be in the film. We know many of the stars from the Fox X-Men films will be appearing in "Avengers: Doomsday", including Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn and James Marsden. Add to that Channing Tatum, whose version of Gambit finally got its chance to shine in last year's "Deadpool & Wolverine," but has never been shown as part of an X-Men team on the big screen. There is also continuing speculation that Hugh Jackman will appear in either "Doomsday" and/or the follow-up "Avengers: Secret Wars". But will Schreier use X-Men we already know and love, or will he introduce us to a brand new batch of mutant heroes?
