On Rahul Gandhi's b'day, Jagga Reddy extends `10 lakh assistance to a cancer patient

Hyderabad: To mark senior party leader and the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's birthday, TPCC working president T Jagga Reddy on Thursday extended Rs 10 lakh financial assistance to a cancer patient, Hari Krishna Prasad, of Thallapalli village in Sangareddy constituency. Prasad has been suffering from cancer for some time now. As he comes from a poor family, Reddy provided aid for his full treatment. As Prasad was earning just Rs 13,000 per month and could not afford a costly battle against cancer, the Congress leader came forward to support Prasad, who works as an employee in a Gurukula school. He has a wife, Shailaja, a daughter studying in LKG, and a son in first grade.
Prasad was diagnosed with cancer three months ago. His family has already spent lakhs on treatment. With no money left for further medical expenses, the family was left helpless. Reddy came to know about Prasad's situation through his followers. Moved by the plight, Reddy volunteered to bear the complete cost of the treatment. He handed over Rs 10 lakh assistance to the patient on Thursday.
Reddy reassured Prasad and his family of his support and encouraged them to stay strong. He also promised to facilitate help through the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to cover the treatment expenses incurred so far. Prasad's family expressed heartfelt gratitude for Reddy's support.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hit out at Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav over allegations that he 'insulted' BR Ambedkar during his birthday celebrations. Controversy has erupted in Bihar earlier this week after a viral video showed the RJD chief's feet near the portrait of Ambedkar during his 78th birthday celebrations. 'The whole country saw what the RJD did to Babasaheb's photo recently.... I know that these people will never apologise because they have no respect for the Dalits and the backwards,' PM Narendra Modi said while addressing a rally in Bihar's Siwan. "The RJD and Congress place Babasaheb's photo at their feet, while Modi keeps him in his heart," the prime minister added. Further launching an attack on the RJD and the Congress, Modi accused them of pushing Bihar into poverty and lawlessness during their rule. 'The RJD and the Congress are responsible for the large-scale migration of labourers from Bihar and for the persistent poverty that plagued the state for decades,' Modi said. He also claimed that the RJD-Congress governance model was focused on "enriching their own families while ignoring the needs of the people". 'During the Congress's licence raj, their leaders became rich, but the public remained poor,' the prime minister said, reported PTI. The prime minister also highlighted the achievements of the NDA government, saying that Bihar has witnessed significant infrastructure development in recent years. "More than 1.5 crore houses have been provided with electricity connection. Water connection has been provided to 1.5 crore houses. More than 45 thousand Common Service Centres have been created. For Bihar's progress, we have to keep increasing this pace continuously. In the last 10 years, about 55 thousand km of rural roads have been built in Bihar," the prime minister said, according to ANI. He also said that Bihar will play a big role in India's economic progress. Assembly elections in Bihar are to be held later this year.

Siwan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a roadshow and greeted people at a public meeting in Bihar's Siwan, where he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects, including in the water, rail, and power sectors. PM Modi greeted Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as he took the stage at a public meeting in Siwan. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects at Siwan, a major boost to infrastructure and socio-economic development in Bihar, on Friday. Boosting railway infrastructure in the region, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the new Vaishali-Deoria railway line project worth over Rs 400 crore and flag off a new train service on this route. Additionally, in a major boost to connectivity in North Bihar, the Prime Minister will also flag off the Vande Bharat Express between Patliputra and Gorakhpur via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah. Furthering the vision of "Make in India - Make for the World", the Prime Minister will also flag off a state-of-the-art locomotive built at the Marhowra Plant for export to the Republic of Guinea. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for water supply, sanitation, and STPs worth over Rs 3000 crore in various towns across Bihar, aiming to provide clean and safe drinking water to the citizens of these towns. In a major boost to power infrastructure in the region, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity in Bihar. Standalone BESSs are being installed at 15 grid substations of the state, including Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Bettiah, and Siwan, among others. The capacity of the battery to be installed in each substation is between 20 and 80 MWh. It will save the distribution companies from buying electricity at expensive rates by feeding the already stored electricity back to the grid, directly benefiting the consumers. Prime Minister will also release the first instalment to more than 53,600 beneficiaries of PMAY U in Bihar. He will also hand over keys to a few beneficiaries to mark the Grih Pravesh Ceremony of more than 6,600 completed houses of PMAY U.
