Vijayawada: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Thursday released a comprehensive progress report marking one year since assuming his responsibilities, stating, 'Transparency and accountability must exist in politics and government. It is my moral responsibility to present the development and achievements accomplished by the departments under my purview over the past year.'
Pawan, who holds portfolios including panchayat raj, rural development, rural water supply, environment, forest, and science and technology, completed one year in office on Thursday. Along with the report, he issued a letter addressed to the people of Andhra Pradesh, in which he thanked the people for 'liberating the state' from the shackles of servitude.
Pawan asserted that from 2019 to 2024, the state suffered under a 'dictatorial rule,' hindering development, eroding law and order, casting shadows over the future of youth, and compromising women's safety. He noted that during this period, the state capital's construction remained stagnant, with 'not a single brick moved.
To rescue the state and restore democratic governance, he said, the NDA alliance, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and N Chandrababu Naidu, and with the collective support of the people, achieved a historic victory, securing 164 Assembly seats with a 94 per cent strike rate.
He added that the alliance government is diligently working day and night to fulfill promises made to the people and steer the state back towards development. In just one year, the government has achieved progress unseen in the last five years, instilling confidence not only among the public but also among investors.
He said that the Central government is now providing full support, witnessing the ongoing development and good governance in the state. This cooperation, he said, is propelling Andhra Pradesh towards comprehensive development in all sectors, aiming to achieve 'Swarnandhra 2047'.
He expressed hope that the public would closely examine the comprehensive report on development activities undertaken by the panchayat raj, rural development, rural water supply, environment, forest, and science and technology departments, recognising the NDA government's progress and its commitment to fulfilling the trust placed in them.
Pawan Kalyan revealed that the government has successfully instilled confidence in investors considering setting up businesses in the state, adding that the central government is also strongly supporting development initiatives. He attributed the state's progress to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's 'experience and visionary leadership.'
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed confidence that in the next four years, Andhra Pradesh will be transformed into an 'address for development.'

'Jungle raj to vikas': PM Modi targets RJD, Congress in Bihar rally

In a high-voltage address in Bihar's Siwan district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Opposition—Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)—accusing them of plunging Bihar into poverty, disrespecting Dalit icons, and stalling development for decades. The speech coincided with the launch and foundation laying of multiple infrastructure projects worth over ₹10,000 crore, marking a major development push ahead of the Assembly elections. 'Bihar became a symbol of poverty under the rule of 'Panja' [Congress] and 'Lantern' [RJD]. It is the NDA that has brought Bihar back on the path of development,' PM Modi said. Dynasty politics vs development: PM Modi sharpens attack Criticising dynastic politics, the Prime Minister said the NDA worked for 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas', while the Congress-RJD alliance believed in 'Parivaar Ka Saath, Parivaar Ka Vikas'. 'Congress's licence raj kept Bihar poor for years. While families of its leaders became rich, the people remained poor,' he said, adding that Dalits and backward communities suffered the most under previous regimes. 'Anti-Bihar, anti-investment mindset': PM Modi on Opposition PM Modi further accused the Opposition of having an 'anti-Bihar, anti-investment mindset'. 'They nurtured gunda raj, mafia raj, and corruption. The jungle raj rulers had completely shut down Bihar's engine of development. But today, an engine made in Bihar will power trains in Africa—this is the new India,' he said. He also praised the BJP-JD(U) government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, for restoring the state's development momentum. ₹10,000 crore projects launched across key sectors PM Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for infrastructure projects across the water, rail, and power sectors worth more than ₹10,000 crore. These are aimed at improving employment opportunities and regional connectivity in Bihar. Ambedkar video controversy escalates political row The Prime Minister also criticised RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav over a viral video from his birthday celebration. The clip showed a supporter placing a portrait of Dr BR Ambedkar near Yadav's feet, allegedly without objection. 'RJD will never apologise because they don't respect Dalits. Babasaheb Ambedkar lives in my heart. The people of Bihar will never forgive this insult,' PM Modi said. The National Commission for Scheduled Castes has since written to the Bihar Chief Secretary seeking a report, while the state SC Commission has issued a notice to Yadav. PM Modi connects Bihar to India's global rise at G7 Referring to his recent trip to the G7 Summit in Canada, PM Modi said India's growing economic power is being noticed globally—and Bihar will be a key contributor. 'From makhana and vegetables to industrial goods, Bihar's products will reach global markets. Bihar will help power India's rise as the third-largest economy,' he said.

‘PM coming to Bihar not for welfare but to seek votes,' says Prashant Kishor

Jan Suraaj Founder Prashant Kishor on Friday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bihar, claiming it was not aimed at the state's development but solely focused on securing votes for the BJP-led NDA alliance. Speaking to ANI, Kishor said, "PM is not coming for the first time... PM Modi is not coming for the welfare and development of Bihar but to seek votes for the BJP and NDA." Kishor questioned the Prime Minister's claims about new development projects in the state, pointing out that some of the initiatives were already functional. "The locomotive factory is already there in Marhowrah; it is nothing new," he said, referring to the manufacturing unit often highlighted in government speeches. Also Read | 'Ek ghante mein hata denge': Prashant Kishor on Bihar liquor ban The Jan Suraaj founder further accused the Prime Minister of ignoring critical issues that matter to the people of Bihar. "PM should speak on the sugar mill which is closed there," he said. He added that residents of Bihar have grown disillusioned over the years due to repeated unfulfilled promises. "For the last 10-12 years, people have seen that announcements are made but nothing happens," he stated. Also Read | Lalu Prasad's 'jhumla' jibe after PM Narendra Modi's rally: 'Weather warning for Bihar' Raising the issue of large-scale migration from Bihar, Kishor questioned the Centre's commitment to creating opportunities in the state. "PM should tell when the migration of children from Bihar will stop," he demanded. On Thursday, Prashant Kishor slammed PM Modi's visit to Bihar, labelling it political campaigning funded by the state's taxpayers. Speaking in Gopalganj, Kishor criticised Modi's third visit in two months, alleging a pattern by the NDA-BJP government to use government resources for electioneering. "Prime Minister is coming here (to Bihar) for the third time in the last two months. Just like we said the last time, this is a set pattern of the NDA-BJP Government that, wherever elections are due, the PM comes there as the government visit and does political campaigning. The same is happening in Bihar as well. We saw this in Madhubani too," Kishor said. He urged PM Modi to address Bihar's persistent migration crisis, noting that lakhs of Bihari youth vote for the BJP due to Modi's appeal but are forced to seek work in states like Gujarat." People want the PM to tell them when migration from Bihar will stop... It is time to ask PM Modi why factories are set up just in Gujarat and not in Bihar. Why is it only the youth of Bihar who go to Gujarat to labour?" Kishor added, pointing out that the NDA governs both the state and the Centre. Bihar elections are expected to be held later this year in October or November; however, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not announced an official date. (ANI)

Bihar-Made Engines To Run Trains In Africa: PM Modi In Siwan Rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke about Bihar's promising future and also the likely emergence of its new identity on the global stage, stating that the growth engine of Bihar, which was stopped during the Congress-RJD regime, will now power the trains and wagons in Africa. Addressing the public gathering in Bihar's Siwan, PM Modi said, "Now the engine made in Bihar will run the trains of Africa. I firmly believe that Bihar will become a big centre of Made in India." "Madhoura railway factory is an example of what kind of Bihar the NDA is building. Today, the first engine from the locomotive factory of Madhoura is being exported to Africa. This factory was built in the same Saran district that was abandoned by the lalten and panja," PM Modi told the gathering. He further stated, "Not only will the makhana, fruits and vegetables from here go abroad, but the goods made in the factories of Bihar will also reach the world markets." PM Modi's promise of turning Bihar into a hub of the 'Made in India' project drew praise from the audience, where he launched a slew of projects ranging from train infrastructure to a housing scheme. He also vowed to continue his service and make constant endeavours towards Bihar's overall development. "Modi will not sleep peacefully, he will keep working day and night, he will keep working for you," he told the crowd. PM Modi further said that, unlike the 'era of jungle raj', Bihar has made remarkable progress in various sectors and credited the Nitish-led NDA government for ushering in the positive change. He said that in the past 11 years, India has achieved many milestones, something which is being acknowledged by world bodies, and Bihar has taken a lead role in those accomplishments. The Prime Minister slammed the previous Congress-RJD-led dispensations, accusing them of plunging Bihar into darkness and said that, unlike them, the double-engine government ushered in a new era of growth in the state. Tearing into 'lalten and panja' rule, he said that during Congress-RJD's governance, poverty became the misfortune of Bihar because of constant loot of the state's resources, but it's the Nitish-led NDA government that brought the state back on track of development. "I assure the people of Bihar that even though we have done a lot, we have been doing it and will continue to do it. I still have a lot more to do for Bihar," PM Modi said.
