‘PM coming to Bihar not for welfare but to seek votes,' says Prashant Kishor
Jan Suraaj Founder Prashant Kishor on Friday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bihar, claiming it was not aimed at the state's development but solely focused on securing votes for the BJP-led NDA alliance.
Speaking to ANI, Kishor said, "PM is not coming for the first time... PM Modi is not coming for the welfare and development of Bihar but to seek votes for the BJP and NDA."
Kishor questioned the Prime Minister's claims about new development projects in the state, pointing out that some of the initiatives were already functional. "The locomotive factory is already there in Marhowrah; it is nothing new," he said, referring to the manufacturing unit often highlighted in government speeches.

The Jan Suraaj founder further accused the Prime Minister of ignoring critical issues that matter to the people of Bihar. "PM should speak on the sugar mill which is closed there," he said.
He added that residents of Bihar have grown disillusioned over the years due to repeated unfulfilled promises. "For the last 10-12 years, people have seen that announcements are made but nothing happens," he stated.

Raising the issue of large-scale migration from Bihar, Kishor questioned the Centre's commitment to creating opportunities in the state. "PM should tell when the migration of children from Bihar will stop," he demanded.
On Thursday, Prashant Kishor slammed PM Modi's visit to Bihar, labelling it political campaigning funded by the state's taxpayers.
Speaking in Gopalganj, Kishor criticised Modi's third visit in two months, alleging a pattern by the NDA-BJP government to use government resources for electioneering.
"Prime Minister is coming here (to Bihar) for the third time in the last two months. Just like we said the last time, this is a set pattern of the NDA-BJP Government that, wherever elections are due, the PM comes there as the government visit and does political campaigning. The same is happening in Bihar as well. We saw this in Madhubani too," Kishor said.
He urged PM Modi to address Bihar's persistent migration crisis, noting that lakhs of Bihari youth vote for the BJP due to Modi's appeal but are forced to seek work in states like Gujarat." People want the PM to tell them when migration from Bihar will stop... It is time to ask PM Modi why factories are set up just in Gujarat and not in Bihar. Why is it only the youth of Bihar who go to Gujarat to labour?" Kishor added, pointing out that the NDA governs both the state and the Centre.
Bihar elections are expected to be held later this year in October or November; however, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not announced an official date. (ANI)

Sukanta, doctor who asked question during CM's lecture ‘detained'
STATE BJP president Sukanta Majumdar and a London-based doctor, Rajatshubhra Bandyopadhyay, were both detained by the city police amid a roadside conversation in south Kolkata's Bhabanipur area on Friday. Although they were both released around three hours later, the incident led to protests by BJP workers and a political firestorm. The BJP claimed that around 25 of its workers were also arrested and released nearly hours later. Police intercepted Majumdar's convoy, initially claiming that the doctor was not present at home. However, a video later released by the BJP on social media purportedly showed Bandyopadhyay at his residence, prompting protests from party supporters. They accused the police of misleading them and alleged that the state government was 'weaponising the police' to stifle political expression. Amid the standoff, Bandyopadhyay stepped out of the premises of his home to meet Majumdar on the street. The doctor recently garnered attention for publicly questioning Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during her lecture in London, a video of which had been widely shared online. Their conversation was cut short and both Majumdar and Bandyopadhyay were escorted into police vehicles and taken to the city police headquarters at Lalbazar. 'For what reason have we been detained? I have no clue,' Majumdar told mediapersons as he was led into the van. 'Even a visit to a doctor's house has now become a crime?' a BJP worker questioned. The ruling Trinamool Congress defended the police's actions. 'The BJP is creating provocations. The doctor in question has a track record of inciting controversy. The police acted in accordance with the law to maintain peace in a sensitive locality,' said TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh.

Pushpa 2 dialogue on YSRCP placard sparks row
A placard with a line from Pushpa 2, which a YSRCP worker held up during party chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's visit to Palnadu, has created a political controversy, with the Andhra Pradesh Home Minister criticising Jagan over the 'violent' message written on it. Jagan defended the placard, saying it was not meant to be violent and asked, 'So, now you can't even quote a line from a movie?' The placard, held up by YSRCP worker T Raviteja on Wednesday, said: 'When YSRCP comes to power in 2029', and below that, 'rapa rapa narukuta'. The Telugu words were part of a line delivered by Allu Arjun in Pushpa 2. It translates to 'cut them down, one by one'. Police in Palnadu said they registered a case against Raviteja and have taken him into custody. Andhra Pradesh Home Minister V Anitha accused Jagan of encouraging such 'violent' statements. Anitha said the message on the placard implied that if YSRCP comes to power, the heads of TDP leaders and workers would be cut off. 'These YSRCP workers display such violent signs because their leader encourages it and uses such language. It is offensive and a violent threat,'' Anitha said. Jagan hit back, saying that the TDP-led NDA government in the state was finding everything offensive and objectionable. 'So, now you cannot even quote a line from a movie? Are we still living in a democracy?' Jagan also said the YSRCP worker in question was previously with the TDP. 'He got fed up with the unfulfilled promises of the TDP and its leadership and joined the YSRCP, and expressed his resentment. This government finds that offensive,' the former chief minister said. Referring to restrictions put on his visit to Palnadu on Wednesday, and the June 11 attack on his convoy allegedly by TDP workers at Podili, Jagan said on Friday that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was scared about 'failure in governance'. 'His impatience is being manifested in diversion politics and foisting false cases against political opponents,' Jagan said. He also claimed that he had received an overwhelming response to his tours. 'Chandrababu has been showing the traits of a dictator by trying to suppress any dissent and gag the voices of those who question the misuse of police. The modus operandi is to catch the small fry, use coercion to seek confessions and file cases against popular YSRCP leaders, unmindful of the fact that people can see through his game,' Jagan said. Chief Minister Naidu, however, chided Jagan for creating problems for the police during his visit to Rentapalla village in Palnadu district. 'Police gave permission for a few vehicles in Jagan's convoy and for 100 people to gather. Ignoring rules and regulations, he entered narrow lanes and created stampede-like situations. Jagan and YSRCP should remember why people gave them only 11 seats — it is due to this kind of dirty tricks,' Naidu said. The CM also said Jagan was siding with drug peddlers, liquor smugglers, and gamblers, and accused YSRCP leaders of unveiling statues of criminals in villages. On Wednesday, Jagan had visited the residence of former deputy sarpanch Korlakunta Nagamalleswara Rao. YSRCP alleges that he was driven to suicide by harassment from the police and the ruling TDP.
