‘We Were Liars' Season 2: Everything We Know And Where The Story Could Go Next

Season 1 of We Were Liars, based on the E. Lockhart novel of the same name, just wrapped. The YA bestseller was adapted for screen by showrunners Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie into eight episodes, and the season finale seemed to be setting up more intrigue ahead. So, will there be a season 2? Here's what we know so far. Not yet. The second season just finished airing, and it may take a while for Prime Video to decide to renew. Plec and MacKenzie told The Wrap that they've had 'endless conversations' with the streamer on the topic. 'They are very supportive and just waiting on whatever data it is these algorithmic creators need to have before they write big check, so we're looking forward to the data working in our favor,' Plec said. 'We are, as usual, at the mercy of the robots,' MacKenzie added. While talking to Variety, MacKenzie said, 'The great thing about this show is that the first season has a satisfying, powerful ending. So I want people who generally don't tune in to the first season because they're afraid it's going to get canceled, to know that they're safe to watch this show, and if it doesn't get a second season, you've still got a whole story. But also, Emily wrote three books and we love this world. We love our cast. We'd love the opportunity that exists for more story, so we're hopeful that we'll get to come back and do more. But also, should this be a limited series, I think it's a beautiful story.' The show follows the teen members of the wealthy and elite Sinclair family, Cadence, Johnny, Mirren, and their friend Gat, across two summers. The first summer involves traumatic loss and the second summer sees Cadence dealing with the loss of her siblings and their ghosts' struggles to move on to the other side. Johnny ends the season still earthbound and seemingly tied to his mother, Carrie. That means a second season could center around their relationship and the older Sinclairs. In an interview with The Wrap, Julie Plec shared, 'The best gift that Emily Lockhart gave us as we were sitting down to write We Were Liars was she published Family of Liars, which was a prequel about the Sinclair sisters when they were teenagers. The book opens with Carrie telling the story of a very dark time and a very bad summer to her dead son.' 'We just wanted the audience to know that there's still more story to tell, and we're really looking forward to the opportunity to be able to do it,' she added. It's unclear if the released spirits would return, but season 1 starred Emily Alyn Lind, Esther McGregor, Joseph Zada, Shubham Maheshwari, and Mamie Gummer. This post will be updated. Treasury yields inch higher after U.S. bombs Iran

U.S. Treasury yields inched higher on Monday after the U.S. bombing of Iran and as investors awaited a batch of key economic data this week. At 5:25 a.m. ET, the 10-year yield was more than 1 basis point higher at 4.387%, and the 30-year yield moved over 1 basis point higher to 4.903%. The 2-year yield also added 1 basis point to reach 3.918%. One basis point is equal to 0.01%, and yields and prices move in opposite directions. Investors are on high alert after the U.S. entered the war between Israel and Iran on Saturday by attacking Iranian nuclear sites in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. "There will be either peace, or there will be tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days. Remember, there are many targets left," Trump said from the White House after the strikes. Investors, who were formerly expecting diplomacy, are now bracing for Iran's retaliation. That could include targeting U.S. personnel in nearby bases or closing the Strait of Hormuz, which would disrupt global oil flows. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on social media that the U.S. attacks would have "everlasting consequences," and that "every member of the United Nations must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior." Deutsche Bank analysts said in a note, "In terms of the economic impact, the US has turned into a net energy exporter in the last few years so any negative impact would be through deteriorating financial conditions or through higher for longer rates as the Fed have another reason to delay cuts." Investors will also await a series of economic data this week, including existing home sales data for May on Monday, gross domestic product growth rate on Thursday, and the personal consumption expenditures index on Friday.

Seth Rogen Says Audition Tape For This Box Office Bomb Would 'End My Career' If It Got Out

Seth Rogen Says Audition Tape For This Box Office Bomb Would 'End My Career' If It Got Out Seth Rogen via Associated Press Seth Rogen has admitted there are a fair few audition tapes of his from back in the day that could seriously affect his street cred if they were ever to get out. During a recent visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Knocked Up star shared his relief that some of his old auditions were filmed on VHS, meaning they're not easily accessible. He explained: 'Thank god it was mostly physical VHS tapes and stuff like that that was being used when I was auditioning for things. Because the things I auditioned for, in retrospect, if they were out there in the world, they would end my career very, very fast, I believe.' ADVERTISEMENT One such example was for an audition for a character with a learning difficulty in the film Gigli, starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. Seth recalled: 'I auditioned for this boy with a cognitive disability. And I don't think the script was written in what, by today's standards, would be the most sensitive portrayal of a boy with a cognitive disability.' Justin Bartha and Ben Affleck in Gigli Moviestore/Shutterstock The role wound up going to Justin Bartha, who later became known for his work in the National Treasure films and Hangover trilogy, as well as the TV series The Good Fight. Meanwhile, a year after Gigli's release, Seth appeared in a small role in Anchorman, followed by appearances in the comedies The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Zach And Miri Make A Porno and Superbad. Gigli hit cinemas in 2003, and was not only dragged by critics (it currently holds an unenviable critical score of just 6% on the reviews aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes), but also bombed at the box office, and is still listed among the most expensive flops in cinema history. ADVERTISEMENT More than a decade on from the movie's release, Jennifer Lopez called the release of Gigli among the 'worst, lowest points' of her life. She later told Vanity Fair in 2017: 'I was eviscerated. I lost my sense of self, questioned if I belonged in this business, thought maybe I did suck at everything. 'And my relationship [with Ben Affleck, to whom she had been engaged] self-destructed in front of the entire world. It was a two-year thing for me until I picked myself up again.' MORE FILM NEWS:
