'Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 3 to have two-episode premiere

Photo courtesy of Amazon MGM Studios June 20 (UPI) -- Prime Video is announcing the release schedule for the third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty. The first pair of episodes are set to arrive on the streamer July 16, followed by weekly episodes through Sept. 17. The final chapter of the series, which follows an evolving love triangle between Belly (Lola Tung) and brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), will feature 11 episodes. The new schedule is a slight deviation from the sophomore season, which kicked off with a three-episode premiere. All of the Season 1 episodes were released in one block. Both prior seasons contained 8 episodes. A recently released trailer shows Belly announcing her engagement to Jeremiah after his mother's (Rachel Blanchard) funeral service. Jenny Han's books serve as inspiration for the series, which also examines "the complexities of family and the strength of female friendships," according to an official synopsis. Han serves as one of the showrunners and an executive producer.

‘28 Years Later' Director Danny Boyle On Return To Horror Series & Whether 007 Is In His Future
Yes, there are a lot of horror movies out right now, and there are a lot of zombie everywhere from TV to film. But when they're great, they'll definitely find an audience. Enter the next installment of Danny Boyle's 28 infected feature series 28 Years Later, which elevates the undead genre to sophisticated storytelling (a helluva second act) and visual dimensions, the latter as the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire director shot the movie on an iPhone 15 ProMax with a Theo Angelopoulos sense of natural lighting. There was always a want for both screenwriter Alex Garland and Boyle to return to the 28 films after 2009's 28 Weeks Later (which was directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo). While talks fell apart back in the day, coming away from a global pandemic can serve as an inspiration for a director and scribe whose previous work on the subject seemed prescience for a year when 2020 was destitute and shut down. Boyle expounds on the duo's inspirations in the latest episode of Deadline's Crew Call podcast. Says Boyle, 'There's a movement toward beauty, and as well it's not just about horror, and there is lots of horror in it, but it's also a movement toward beauty as well.' Boyles explains why he's not directing all three planned films (the third movie doesn't even have financing yet, per the director, but Sony has the option to make it after winning the trilogy in an auction) and whether he'd ever think of directing Bond again in the new Amazon MGM Studios regime. 28 Years Later is opening Friday in what's looking to be a $28 million-$30 million domestic debut. 'We Were Liars' on Prime Video: How to Stream the New Series
Prime Video's assortment of original young adult series includes The Summer I Turned Pretty, Motorheads and as of today, the eight-episode thriller We Were Liars. Based on E. Lockhart's 2014 book of the same name, Prime Video's version of We Were Liars centers around Cadence Sinclair Eastman, who can't remember something terrible that happened the last summer she spent at her grandfather's New England private island. Emily Alyn Lind stars as Cadence, and Shubham Maheshwari, Esther McGregor and Joseph Zada play other tight-knit "Liars" Gat, Mirren and Johnny. Amazon MGM Studios television head Vernon Sanders said in a 2023 statement that the book "is a gripping story centered on family, love, secrets, and lies that is perfect for our Prime Video audience." When to watch We Were Liars on Prime Video All eight episodes of the show debuted on June 18 on Prime Video and are available to binge now. You can purchase Prime Video on its own for $9 per month. The ad-supported streaming service also comes with an Amazon Prime membership, which costs $15 per month or $139 per year. Prime Video Prime Video Carries We Were Liars Watching ads is now the default when you stream Prime Video, but you can opt to pay an additional $3 per month to remove them. Live TV and sports events will still include commercials, and the fee is monthly even if you have annual Prime. 'Sausage Party: Foodtopia' Season 2 to premiere in August

Photo courtesy of Amazon MGM Studios June 17 (UPI) -- Season 2 of Sausage Party: Foodtopia will arrive on Prime Video Aug. 13, the streamer announced Tuesday. The series, featuring the voices of Seth Rogen, Will Forte, Edward Norton and Michael Cera, is a sequel to the 2016 film Sausage Party. The first season saw a rainstorm throw a wrench in the foods' new utopia. "They're left feeling ill-equipped too begin a new society and longing for answers," an official synopsis for Season 1 states. Season 2 sees the foods arrive in New Foodland only to discover "a dark secret that threatens the entirety of sentient food society." Marion Cotillard joins the cast as Dijon, while Jillian Bell joins as Trish. Martin Starr will portray Sherman and Patti Harrison will lend her voice to Jill. Season 2 was announced in July.
