Celtic 'interested' in Veljko Milosavljevic as transfer business jolts into life with Strelec confession and £11m bonus

Daily Record05-05-2025

Brendan Rodgers is planning beyond a potential Treble with a big summer of transfer deals around the corner
Celtic are reportedly "very interested" in Red Star Belgrade defender Veljko Milosavljevic with the summer transfer window rapidly approaching.
The Premiership champions are already looking to next season with Brendan Rodgers on the brink of leading the Hoops to a domestic Treble with Aberdeen standing in their way of a Scottish Cup triumph.

Celtic have to navigate the tricky qualifying route to the Champions League next season and moves are already in motion.

Max Sport state that the club are keen on a deal for the 17-year-old - but have been warned the the towering wonderkid is not for sale.
However, it is noted that the Belgrade club could change their stance with clubs from France and England monitoring the sitiation.
Slovan Bratislava frontman David Strelec was on the agenda going into the closing hours of the winter window but a deal could not be reached.
He was rated at £9million at the time - but has left the door open to a summer move after his hat-trick against MSK Zilina in the 4-3 victory secured Slovan's seventh consecutive title.
He said: "Everything is open. I'm happy here, I'm home and it's always been my dream to play for Slovan.

"We'll see what the communication will be with the club in the coming period."
Pressed on his goals for next season after the full-time whistle, he told Dennik Sport:"Continue to improve.
"I know I can be even better physically, have even better positioning and finishing. I can improve in everything and that's what I'm going to try to do."

Celtic are also set for a payday should Bayer Leverkusen cash in on Jeremie Frimpong this summer.
Reports suggest that Liverpool and Manchester United are ready to battle it out for a deal in the region of €40million (£34million).
Celtic hold a 30 percent sell-on fee as part of the £11million deal that allowed Frimpong to leave the club for Leverkusen back in January 2021.

Former Reds star Jermaine Pennant believes that Frimpong would be the perfect replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold as he closes in a move to Real Madrid.
He told aceodds.com: "I really like (Jeremie) Frimpong, and he can play as a winger as well. I'd like to see him switch with Conor Bradley."
'With Conor you get the balance. He may not have the same passing range, vision or assist ratio as Trent, but he will give you that defensive structure.
"He is probably better defensively than Trent. At the same time he can get forward to give Salah the space.
"It's good that they have a player like him to take over from Trent if he leaves, but I would still like to see him go a full season without injuries.'

Conference League side look to ‘tempt' ex-Kilmarnock star Danny Armstrong as he attracts interest at home and abroad

SunSport can reveal the Polish team want to tempt the winger in time for the start of their season. 3 Former Kilmarnock man Daniel Armstrong has attracted interest at home and abroad Credit: Kenny Ramsay 3 He could play in the Conference League with Polish team Jagiellonia Bialystok Credit: Getty Winger Armstrong, 27, is a free agent after quitting Kilmarnock following four years there. His availability has attracted interest from home and abroad and Jagiellonia are exploring ways they can attract him. They are bossed by Adrian Siemieniec, who became the youngest ever boss in Poland's top flight when he took charge at the age of 31 two years ago. He already had a decade's experience of coaching after retiring from playing early because he felt he wouldn't be good enough to make the grade as a professional. Siemieniec steered Jagiellonia to a third-placed finish in the Ekstraklasa and they take on Serbs Novi Pazar in the Europa Conference League second qualifying round first leg on July 24. They open up their league campaign with a visit from Bruk-Bet Termalica on July 18. Back before the most recent winter window then-Killie manager Derek McInnes stood firm on the winger's price tag, knocking back bids from European teams and batting off interest from his own new team Hearts. With his contract into the last six months teams could have tried to lure him with a pre-contract agreement but nothing came to fruition. He's recently revealed his decision to stick around for the final year was largely to do with his new-born daughter. Now that he's departing he also added: 'It's been the best ten months of my life, having Darby here, and I wouldn't change it. 'I've had options from all over the world but it's about it being the right one. Myself and my partner are all on the same page. Armstrong notched 26 goals and 35 assists in his time at Rugby Park, picking up a Championship title and playing in Europe along the way. He wouldn't be the first to make a direct move between the SPFL and the Polish outfit. The red and yellow team currently have former Livingston goalkeeper Max Stryjek on their books. Other recent Scottish links to Jagiellonia include Patryk Klimala, who was brought to Celtic from them, and Ziggy Gordon who moved there after playing for Partick Thistle and Hamilton Accies. Cillian Sheridan, formerly of Killie, Celtic and a host of other Scottish clubs also plied his trade there between 2017 and 2019. And transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed on Saturday the length of deal that is expected to take him to Celtic Park. He's reporting the 23-year-old has penned a four-year contract at the club, with the option of extending his stay in Glasgow to 2030. It means the Scottish champions have staved off competition from the likes of Anderlecht and Copenhagen to land the attacker's signature. Nygren netted 16 times in 32 games for the Danish outfit Nordsjaelland last season and made his debut for Sweden. He has two goals from four caps for his country, scoring in the 2-0 win over Hungary and 5-1 victory over Northern Ireland in June. He would become Brendan Rodgers' third summer signing after finalising deals to bring Kieran Tierney and Ross Doohan back to the club. Fulham attacker Callum Osmand is also on the verge of joining the Hoops. Meanwhile, Celtic are looking to raid the J-League for another striker. SunSport has exclusively revealed they are watching Kawasaki Frontale hitman Shin Yamada. Eric Black on losing love for football & the ex-Celtic star who's the best he's ever seen Yamada, 25, scored 19 league goals in the 2024 season and also helped the Japanese side to the Asian Champions League final last month. Major update on Motherwell star Lennon Miller's future as dad Lee says he's got ‘preferred choice' in mind

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LEE MILLER has revealed son Lennon has his heart set on a move abroad. Both Celtic and Rangers have been credited with an interest in the 18-year-old Motherwell star, who earned a Scotland debut earlier this month after a stellar season at Fir Park. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 4 Motherwell star Lennon Miller Credit: SNS 4 Lee says Miller wants to follow Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour's path Credit: Getty 4 Lee watched on as son Lennon played for Scotland against Iceland Credit: SNS But former Aberdeen and Hearts striker Lee believes Lennon wants to follow the likes of Scott McTominay, Billy Gilmour and Lewis Ferguson to the continent. Lee said: 'His preferred choice would be abroad. He's not just going to go to a club for the sake of it. "It needs to have the right environment and the right manager at the right club. 'Lennon's not bothered with the money side of things — he wants to go and progress his career and then kick on again. 'I don't know what that'll be. But it needs to be a place where he can then grow again. 'The next move for Lennon is so important for his development.' The Well starlet will have plenty of options this summer, with English Premier League new boys Sunderland the latest club to be linked with the teen. Italian side Udinese and Belgian cracks Union St-Gilloise had bids rejected in January. While some youngsters are sold on a glamorous name, Lee believes Lennon will make the smart choice when it comes to picking the right club to stay a first team regular. He added: 'There's a lot of interest in Lennon — it's a new club every day! Stuart Kettlewell on Motherwell poster boy Lennon Miller, learning from Old Firm icons and what his Gers-daft family thought when the Fir Park side won at Ibrox 'In terms of bids going in for him, there's nothing this summer. There were a few bids in January and the valuation wasn't met, so we just had to wait. 'It needs to be the right club. For example, it's all right saying Napoli's an incredible club and they've got amazing players. 'But that's when you need to look at where he fits into that club. There needs to be a space that he fits in and is able to flourish and progress. 'Ultimately he needs to play football. He needs to keep developing because everything has gone to plan so far. 'He's played a number of first-team games and is a recognised first-team player now, although still only 18. 'He's done really well at Motherwell, but it's time for him to move on.' Miller Snr admits the speed of his son's rise has taken him by surprise. The former Scotland striker was delighted to see his boy shine in his first two senior appearances for his country earlier this month. 4 Lennon Miller made his Scotland debut last month Credit: Willie Vass He said: 'Lennon really liked his time away with Scotland and I think Scott McTominay took a shine to him. He bounced ideas off of him and played alongside him and Billy. 'Billy and Lennon complemented each other in the second game — although everybody will say it was only Liechtenstein. 'It was a great end to the season, he's rubbing shoulders with the best players in Scotland. 'I get goosebumps talking about it and hopefully he gets that special move that allows him to kick on.'
