When the first Hibs vs Hearts clash is as 2025/26 Premiership fixtures are released

Edinburgh's big two will lock horns at least three times in the league Hibs finished best of the rest last season. Now it's up to Derek McInnes to make Hearts Scotland's third force again. The Jambos had a campaign to forget as Steven Naismith and Neil Critchley both lost their jobs - with Liam Fox steadying the ship for the final few games. ‌ Across the city, the Hibees' faith in David Gray was rewarded as the club legend recovered from a nightmare start to lead the club from bottom to third - overseeing a remarkable 17-game unbeaten run that will live long in the memory of supporters. ‌ There's no question Hibs head into 2025/26 with the bragging rights as the Europa League hopefuls look to continue their rise under Gray. Derek McInnes sees weakness in Rangers and Hearts boss is thinking something he won't admit out loud

McInnes has the ball rolling at Tynecastle and our man Keith Jackson reckons he has high ambitions Derek McInnes smells blood in Rangers – and is thinking about nothing other than catching them and splitting the Old Firm. That's according to our man Keith Jackson who knows the Hearts boss well and believes that, even if he won't say it out loud, that's what he's thinking. ‌ McInnes has taken the reins at Gorgie and has wasted no time in getting down to business. ‌ Today alone the club have confirmed the signings of Stuart Findlay, Alexandros Kyziridis and Christian Borchgrevink, and they're optimistic about battling back into Europe and reclaiming third spot. But hold your spot? Why not second? Russell Martin is in the door at Rangers and has no shortage of problems on his desk with a threadbare squad and plenty of business left to do. And our man Keith, who knows McInnes personally, believes he'll be fancying his chances of taking the fight to them. He said on tonight's Hotline Live: "He'll have identified the problems Rangers have got right now, and the potential for them to get off to a sluggish, difficult start. All the pressure that's going to come down on Russell Martin. "I'm telling you right now, and I know Derek McInnes well – he won't admit it, but there is no way he is thinking anything other than there's a real chance for Hearts to get into the argument, in between the two of them at the top of the table. ‌ "The one Brendan Rodgers hasn't won during his first stint at Celtic Park, it was Derek McInnes that stopped it by knocking them out of the League Cup at Rugby Park. "He enjoys it. He wants to be involved in it. That's why he's been waiting for this opportunity to get back to a team which will have the level of finance to get involved in a real scrap. ‌ "Not just in a one-off game, because he's proven he can do that. He's looking at this season and going 'there is a real opportunity to lay down a marker.' To get right involved in the thick of it at the top of the table and, yes, potentially to separate Celtic and Rangers by the end of it." Martin Foyle aims St Mirren parting shot as transfer guru hints at issues behind the scenes

Experienced Foyle, 62, called time on his three years in Paisley to join non-league English side Carlisle United Former St Mirren recruitment chief Martin Foyle aimed a parting shot at his old club after joining Carlisle United. Experienced Foyle - who previously bossed Port Vale, Wrexham and York City - quit Saints for the non-league Blues earlier this week. ‌ The former Motherwell talent spotter spent three years in Paisley as the Buddies made history by achieving three top-six finishes on the bounce. ‌ Foyle, 62, claims he had a strong relationship with miracle-working boss Stephen Robinson but insists it wasn't a difficult decision to leave - hinting at issues behind the scenes. He said: "No, not really. There are things going on in the background that people don't see. "But my connection with Stephen is absolutely fantastic. He's a top-drawer manager, but sometimes, you need to move on. "Fresh faces, meeting people, but it's the project of trying to get Carlisle back in the league that excites me." Foyle will now work with Welsh legend Mark Hughes, who has extended his stay at Brunton Park despite relegation from League Two to the National League. ‌ Foyle added: "I've had a brief chat with Mark. We're meeting up on Friday at his house so we can have a good feel of what he's thinking and wants. "Then it's a case, really, of what I can do. I've known Mark before. "He's come across, good football pedigree, we were chatting away and he was just trying to sell me it bit by bit and I just got hooked on it. That's why I'm here." ‌ Former Celtic and Rangers transfer guru John Park has been appointed as Foyle's replacement after leaving his role as head of recruitment at Blackburn Rovers. St Mirren chief executive Keith Lasley said: "We are sorry to see Martin moving on and wish him the best of luck in his new challenge. "His contributions have been key in the club's progression over the past few seasons and we thank him for all his efforts. "We have, however, moved quickly to bring John to the club and we are excited to welcome him to St Mirren. "John's experiences across the world, significantly in player trading and youth development, make him the ideal person to build upon the relative success at the club over the past few years in line with our club strategy." Issame Charai in illuminating Rangers claim as he makes management claim free of arrogance

Charai is now the boss at Westerlo after bringing the curtain down on his short Ibrox stint Former Rangers No.2 Issame Charai reckons he knows all about pressure as he prepares to start his first management job at Westerlo - because of the furious Ibrox reactions to a draw. The Moroccan coach has just been appointed as manager of the Belgian outfit after leaving Rangers earlier this month following the appointment of Russell Martin. ‌ It's his first job in club football, having previously only managed Morocco Under 23s and being assistant manager at a variety of clubs - including a five-month spell at Rangers where he a lieutenant for Philippe Clement and interim boss Barry Ferguson. ‌ And he is well aware of what to expect because of his experience in Scotland. He said: "Trust me, I have no problem dealing with pressure. At Rangers, if we had only drawn 1-1, we were criticised all over the stadium. "In Morocco, you couldn't leave the ground because of the angry fans if you lost. I have total confidence in myself. "Without being arrogant, I was ready for it for a while. In recent years, several clubs have called me, both domestically and abroad. However, I never had the feeling that it was the right project at the time. "The experience that I gained in the meantime at Rangers, Strasbourg, the Moroccan Under 23s has all been invaluable. "I have been a coach for 14 years. It was time to go my own way." ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season. Kieran Tierney is 'world class' as Celtic hero compared with all time Parkhead great

Hoops fans are looking forward to seeing their old favourite in action and there is set to be a flurry of new faces this summer Tosh McKinlay insists returning hero Kieran Tierney is up there with Tommy Gemmell as one of the all-time Celtic great left-backs. The former Hoops ace is thrilled to see KT back at Parkhead after almost six years with Arsenal in the English Premier League. ‌ McKinlay is convinced Celtic have landed a world-class full-back in the prime of his career. ‌ And he believes Tierney is already on a par with the Lisbon Lions legend. McKinlay said: 'We've had some decent left backs over the years, but I think Kieran's right up there with the best of them – Tommy Gemmell being one of them. 'I think you need to defend well, but obviously the other but of the job is getting forward and getting crosses into the box for the strikers. 'So, I'm sure Kieran will be looking forward to marauding up and down the line like he did the last time. 'It's absolutely brilliant to see him back, he's a world-class left-back. 'Obviously, he's had a stint in England, but delighted to have him back. ‌ 'It's in the badge, it's in the blood. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in the first game, getting the Hoops back on. Everybody's delighted he's back. 'I'm sure the supporters will be excited about seeing him play for Celtic again.' ‌ McKinlay was delighted Celtic claimed another Double last term and he's convinced Brendan Rodgers will be determined to make the squad even stronger next season. Tierney is already in the building, youngster Callum Osmand and keeper Ross Doohan are all but confirmed and a deal is close for Swedish star Benjamin Nygren. Celts are also in the hunt for several others, such as Royal Antwerp's Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Japanese defender Hayato Inamura. McKinlay said: 'It's the silly season, there are names being thrown out there left right and centre. 'But the one that's confirmed now is Tierney, so that's a very good start as far as I'm concerned. 'We just have to wait and see what Celtic bring in, but I'm sure the manager will be keen to add to the fantastic squad that he's got at the moment. 'It's a position of strength and it's what the manager's always looking to do. 'Certain positions he'll want to strengthen and I'm sure he'll be working hard over the summer to do that.'
