Opening the batting, Samra launched Canada's chase with a six and never looked back. His explosive knock, featuring five sixes and three fours, shattered the national record for the fastest T20 half-century, previously held by Harsh Thaker, who made 50 off 16 balls earlier in the tournament.
"He's in really good form," said Canadian skipper Nicholas Kirton. "Obviously, he's a special talent."
Set a revised target of 53 in 11 overs after a rain delay of over two hours, Canada chased down the total in just 4.3 overs without losing a wicket. Fellow opener Aaron Johnson remained on four not out.
The Bahamas, who were 34 for three when rain interrupted play at Maple Leaf Cricket Ground, returned to post 52 for seven in their shortened innings. Kervon Hinds offered brief resistance with 12 runs, including three consecutive boundaries, but the batting order collapsed following the restart. Festus Benn was trapped lbw by Kirton, Eugene Duff was stumped, and Julio Jemison was run out in quick succession.

Canada, ranked 19th in T20 cricket, remains unbeaten in the regional final, having defeated Bermuda by 110 runs and the Cayman Islands by 59. They next face Cayman on Thursday, followed by Bahamas on Saturday and Bermuda on Sunday.
Speaking to the Royal Gazette, Bermuda coach Cal Waldron said: 'We didn't execute our game plan against Canada. They gave us a higher total to chase than we wanted, and we were unable to chase it down to come out with a favourable result. We went back to the drawing board, looked at the good and the bad from the game against Canada."
Bermuda must win their remaining matches to keep their qualification hopes alive for the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

(AP Photo/LM Otero) FRISCO, Texas (AP) — The Dallas Stars have re-signed forward Matt Duchene to a four-year contract worth $18 million. General manager Jim Nill announced the deal Thursday. Duchene will count $4.5 million against the salary cap through the 2028-29 season. Advertisement 'We are thrilled to have Matt back with our organization,' Nill said in a statement. 'As our team's leading scorer last season, he helped to solidify our forward group while also providing invaluable leadership off the ice and in the community. The fit with Matt and our team has been seamless from the start, and we're looking forward to continuing to pursue our shared goal of bringing a championship to Dallas.' Duchene was a point-a-game scorer — exactly 82 in 82 — in his second season with Dallas. He had just one goal and five assists in 16 playoff games as the Stars reached the Western Conference final before losing to Edmonton. Now 34, Duchene is going into his 17th season in the NHL. He previously played for Colorado, Columbus, Ottawa and Nashville since making his debut in 2009. ___ AP NHL:

Connor McDavid Makes Clear Statement About Oilers After Stanley Cup Loss

Connor McDavid Makes Clear Statement About Oilers After Stanley Cup Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Florida Panthers closed out the Edmonton Oilers with a dominant 5–1 victory in Game 6 on Tuesday night, securing their second consecutive Stanley Cup on home ice against the same team they already beat last season. Advertisement Florida jumped out early, scored twice in the first period, and never looked back. The Oilers were limited to a meager and meaningless goal with less than five minutes left in regulation and the score 5-0 in favor of the Panthers. While the result brought another painful ending for Edmonton, captain Connor McDavid pushed back on any notion that his team quit in the deciding game. "We lost to a really good team," McDavid said. "Nobody quit, nobody threw the towel in, but they're a heck of a team. They're back-to-back Stanley Cup champions for a reason." Sam Reinhart scored four goals for the Panthers, including two empty-netters, while Matthew Tkachuk added one in the opening frame. Advertisement The Oilers didn't get on the board until Vasily Podkolzin scored with just over four minutes left. McDavid was left off the board in Tuesday's game and held to just one goal and six assists in the series. "Their forecheck was great. They tilted the rink. They were able to stay on top of us all over the place," McDavid said. "Never really able to generate any momentum up the ice." Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid (97) controls the puck defended by Florida Panthers center Sam Reinhart (13) during the 2025 Stanley Cup Navarro-Imagn Images McDavid, even after another crushing finals loss, maintained belief in the group and was already looking forward to making another deep run next season. "Still a lot of confidence and belief," McDavid said. "I don't think people thought we were going to make it this far. We obviously believed. Came up just short again." Advertisement With their second consecutive loss, the Oilers became the first team since the 1977-78 Boston Bruins to lose back-to-back finals. Premier League clubs given hope in Jonathan David pursuit

Premier League clubs have been given fresh hope in their pursuit of Lille forward Jonathan David. David's contract at Lille is due to expire this month and the Canadian forward is one of Europe's most coveted free agents. Advertisement The 25-year-old had been expected to sign for Napoli on a free transfer but a change of stance from the Italian champions has re-opened the race. Napoli are pushing to sign Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese as a new forward. Sky Italia have claimed that a contract has already been agreed and the clubs will meet with to agree on a transfer fee. Napoli have also held discussions for Liverpool's Darwin Nunez. The cooling of interest from the Serie A side has opened the door for Premier League teams in the race for David. West Ham offer on table for Jonathan David West Ham United are understood to have submitted a contract offer to the player, while Manchester United, Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have all been linked. Advertisement There's significant competition from across Europe, however, with Juventus, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray all keen. David has scored 109 goals in 232 games for Lille and netted 25 times in all competitions last season. He is also Canada's record goalscorer with 34 goals for the national team. Earlier this year, the forward told the It's Called Soccer! Podcast that he is confident he can adapt to any league. David said: 'To be honest, I think I can adapt to every League. Every league has their differences. I think the Premier League is a lot faster and more physical than all the other leagues. 'But I grew up watching a lot of La Liga. I wouldn't say that would be my preferred league, but I think that's a league that I enjoyed watching the most. I think one day, I would like to play there. But will that happen? I don't know. I'm not opposed to anything, and we'll just see where the future takes us.'
