Liverpool set price as Erik ten Hag eyes Liverpool swoop to replace Bayern star

Daily Mirror12 hours ago

Liverpool are braced for a bid for Jarell Quansah after Bayer Leverkusen made their interest in the Reds defender clear. But the Merseysiders will want around £40m to part with the defender.
The two clubs have been locked in talks for weeks over a record £116m deal for Germany star Florian Wirtz, who will undergo his medical on Merseyside on Friday. Any deal for Quansah would be separate to that and talks will continue after the Wirtz deal is finalised rather than hold up that transfer.
Liverpool would be reluctant sellers of Quansah, 22, who is currently with England's U21s at the European Championships. They have been monitoring Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who they could move for if Quansah was to leave.
Guehi is out of contract at Selhurst Park next summer but is also of interest to Newcastle. Quansah signed a new contract last season and is very much admired among the Reds staff but he also wants to play more after falling down the pecking order at Anfield.
Leverkusen are looking to replace Jonathan Tah, who left to join Bayern Munich and new boss Erik ten Hag is a fan of Quansah. The Bundesliga club would hope to negotiate a lower fee than £40m and would hope their dealings with the Reds may help talks.
Liverpool have Virgil van Dijk, who signed a two-year deal, and Ibrahima Konate, who is entering the last 12 months of his contract, as centre-back options with Joe Gomez's future also in doubt. That would mean should Quansah move then Liverpool are likely to bring in a centre-back with Guehi a player of interest.
Any more incoming transfers are likely to be put on pause this summer for the time being following a lucrative window. Jeremie Frimpong arrived from Leverkusen for a fee of £35m, while Wirtz' own arrival will see Liverpool smash their transfer record.
Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez also appears to be on the verge of becoming a Liverpool player according to his dad and agent Sebastijan. Speaking on Super Indirektno, he said: 'It's only Liverpool for us and we're not going anywhere else and we won't talk to other clubs. Everything is done between us (personal terms) we just need to sort out some details but it's basically a done deal."

Liverpool are expected to pay around £45m for the Hungarian. Meanwhile, Quansah is not the only star to have been linked with an exit this summer.
Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Federico Chiesa and Andrew Robertson are all potentially candidates to leave over the coming months.

Bryan Mbeumo signs, Marcus Rashford departs - Man Utd's next transfer moves

A busy summer is expected at Old Trafford and Carrington as Manchester United are left with no option but to back Ruben Amorim or face another year of desperate struggle Matheus Cunha is signed and ready to deliver after his £62.5m arrival from Wolves but that should just be the start of a long and hectic summer at Manchester United. Ruben Amorim's squad needs significant revamping following the nightmare campaign just gone and chief executive Omar Berrada says the club's target remains winning the Premier League in 2028. ‌ But everyone under the sun knows that the club must persuade other clubs to sign high-earning misfits for them to fund further new signings - with outgoings now the top priority despite continued interest in Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo. ‌ Here is where things stand with 81 days left in the transfer window. Mbeumo chase United know that their attack needs drastic improvement if the gap is to be closed in 2025-26 and Mbeumo has proven his Premier League chops by excelling at Brentford. However this deal is complicated by two factors. Spurs are also interested, having just appointed Thomas Frank from the Bees and Mbeumo may decide working with his old boss and playing in the Champions League is a better option. Plus he would not have to relocate. United aren't in Europe and the fact is that if they are to sign him there must be a number of unwanted stars heading for the exit. Ekitike doubts That second point also applies to any pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt's forward Hugo Ekitike, who carries the red flag of having no experience of English football and just one prolific year in the Bundesliga. ‌ Eintracht are under no obligation to sell and what a big sum. United have taken similar risks in recent seasons that have backfired spectacularly. Rashford interest Then there are the exits and none are more high profile than Marcus Rashford, the homegrown hero no longer with a future at Old Trafford. ‌ His loan at Aston Villa last season went well before injury cut it short and a return there appears unlikely. Barcelona have been linked, talk of a switch to Newcastle has been dismissed. But it is probably beneficial to all parties for a deal to be agreed. Sancho to Naples Similar can be applied to Jadon Sancho. Chelsea paid £5m not to sign him following his mixed bag loan and recent reports suggest Napoli would be keen on bringing him in, joining Scott McTominay. ‌ But, yet again, there appears to be a snag regarding the financial make-up of a move. Garnacho conundrum Reports immediately after the Europa League final suggested that the Argentina attacker was told he could leave if he finds a new club. But he still went on a money-spinning post-season tour in Asia and there have been crickets since. ‌ He is one of few players who could earn a considerable fee, which also means he is one of few players with the natural ability to shine in a successful United side. Expect talk around his future to drag on to the September 1 window. Who else can go? We know Bruno Fernandes will stay because he turned down the Saudi riches but beyond that anyone could go if a good offer comes in. That, according to past reports, includes Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund, who is yet to catch fire after two seasons since arriving for £72m from Atalanta.

Transfers LIVE - Wirtz lands in the UK, Arsenal eye Chelsea star

The biggest transfer of the summer is nearly complete. Liverpool have agreed a British record deal with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz - which will exceed £110m. The player is set to undergo a medical on Friday, with an official announcement on the move to follow. He has been spotted flying to the UK, so it only seems a matter of time before a deal is signed off. After that, the Reds are ready to press on as they eye a deal for Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez, with the Cherries set to receive £45m for the Hungarian, and they are also interested in Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi. Arsenal continue to work on a deal for a new striker, while confirmation of Martin Zubimendi's move to the Emirates appears close. The Gunners are also in the market for a new winger and have been linked with several options, including Chelsea's Noni Madueke. Florian Wirtz has been spotted flying to the UK as Liverpool prepare to complete his record signing. The Reds agreed a deal with the German's current side Bayer Leverkusen that will see them break their all-time transfer record. The reigning Premier League champions are expected to pay in excess of £100m initially with multi-million pound add-ons being slotted into the deal. After thrashing out the terms of the agreement, all that is left is for Wirtz to undergo his medical with his new side and undergo his media commitments. And it appears that is not too far aware. According to numerous reports, Wirtz arrived at a Cologne airport in a people carrier with his representatives ahead of flying to the UK. It was suggested in Germany that Wirtz may have undergone the first part of his Liverpool medical on Thursday, with final details due to be thrashed out on Friday. Bayer Leverkusen discussing potential Jarell Quansah signing with Liverpool

The 22-year-old defender, who only signed a new five-year contract in October, is fourth-choice centre-back at Anfield despite starting the first match of last season. Quansah is currently at the European Championship with England Under-21s and earlier this week said: 'I'm in a very good position to take the next step.' Negotiations are at an early stage and are not linked to Liverpool's club-record deal for the Bundesliga side's playmaker Florian Wirtz, whose arrival in a potential £115million deal could be announced as early as Friday.
