Dune 3 gets an exciting filming update which will reassure fans
Dune fans who are eagerly awaiting the third instalment will be pleased to hear that filming should be underway very, very soon.
According to Deadline, filming on Dune 3 will begin in July which tracks with previous reports that the production was aiming for a summer start.
Last July Dune 3's release date was confirmed for 18 December, 2026 and hopefully the film should still be on track to come out as planned.
Dune 3 will see Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Florence Pugh all returning to the franchise.
Pugh's character Princess Irulan is expected to take on a bigger role in the third instalment with director Denis Villeneuve previously comparing her importance to Zendaya's character Chani.

He told Moviefone: "Of course, if there's a Dune Messiah as we plan, [Irulan will] become one of the prominent characters of that whole series. I'm doing a bit of what I did with Zendaya in the first movie.
"I introduced Chani in Dune and then she becomes one of the main characters in Part Two. I do the same with Florence, I just introduced her in Part Two and if there's a Dune Messiah, she becomes one of the main characters."
One more surprising name that will also be back is Jason Momoa whose character Duncan Idaho died in the first movie and was not present in the second.

Dune 3 will adapt Frank Herbert's 1969 novel Dune Messiah where Momoa's character Idaho is cloned and brought back to life as an artificially created human known as a ghola.
The cast of Dune 3 may also have a big name addition as in April it was reported that Robert Pattinson had been offered a role, though his casting has not yet been confirmed.

Zendaya And Timothée Chalamet's Kids In 'Dune 3' Casting
A hill I will gladly die on is that Dune: Part Two was the best movie of 2024. And so, whenever I'm feeling a little down, it helps to remember that Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya will be returning for a third Dune film in the not-too-distant future. For context, Denis Villeneuve's first two Dune movies, Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two, were both based on the events that take place in Frank Herbert's first Dune novel, which came out in 1965. The third and final movie from Denis's Dune trilogy is confirmed to be an adaptation of the second and more controversial book in the series, Dune: Messiah, which picks up 12 years after the events at the end of Dune: Part Two. The film will likely be called Dune: Messiah or Dune: Part Three, but for now, most people are referring to it as Dune 3, so we'll go with that. So far, we don't have a ton of solid information on Dune 3, other than that it's definitely happening and will likely start shooting this summer. It's expected that Timmy and Zendaya will return as Paul Atreides and Chani, along with Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin, whose characters all feature in Dune: Messiah. It's also been reported that Robert Pattinson is in talks to play the villain role of Scytale… but we won't get too excited just yet. And now, as Timothée and Zendaya are likely preparing to get their stillsuits back on, there's a new report about two exciting additions to the cast — the young actors who will play Paul and Chani's twin children: Leto II and Ghanima. According to Deadline, Ghanima will be played by Ida Brooke, who you may know from Silo, while Leto II will be portrayed by a newcomer called Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, who, as you may have guessed, happens to be the child of Jason Mamoa and Lisa Bonet. There have been a lot of reactions to the reports, which, as it stands, have not been fully confirmed. However, the main topic of conversation is how damn accurate the casting is?! Like, I'm not sure they could've found two kids who look more like they could be the biological kids of Timothée and Zendaya? Another fun element to all this — and this is your OFFICIAL SPOILER WARNING — is that Nakoa-Wolf will likely get to share the screen with his dad, who has confirmed that he will be making a 'comeback' as Duncan Idaho, his character who died in Dune: Part One. Dune 3 Cast Finds Its Leto II and Ghanima for Messiah
A day after rumors began surfacing that the upcoming Dune 3 had found its cast for the twin children of Paul Atreides, Deadline has confirmed the report. As previously rumored, newcomer Nakoa-Wolf Momoa (son to actor Jason Momoa) and Silo's Ida Brooke have joined the cast of the upcoming third movie, which is set to adapt Frank Herbert's 1969 novel Dune Messiah, which serves as a sequel to the 1965 novel Dune. Momoa will play the role of Leto II, while Brooke plays the role of Ghanima, the twin children of Paul Atreides and Chani. The twins are introduced later in the actual novel, and serve as big pieces of the story throughout the final act of the novel. It's unclear how they'll be introduced in the film, however. The official cast of Dune 3 has not yet been announced, but several returning stars from the first two films are anticipated to be back. These include Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Jason Momoa. Robert Pattinson is also said to have joined the film to play the role of Scytale, a main player in the world of Dune Messiah. Just when you thought one Momoa starring in a Dune movie was a big deal, a whole second Momoa is entering the conversation. We already knew Jason Momoa was expected to return for Denis Villeneuve's third and final Dune film, Dune Messiah, whenever it comes to be. But now, his son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa has joined the cast along with Silo's Ida Brooke as the kids of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya). Deadline broke the news of the casting, which is the first public movement on the project in months. It's a film basically everyone involved with has sort of acknowledged, but there has yet to be any kind of big, formal, official announcement. What we expect to hear, soon rather than later, is that Denis Villeneuve will adapt Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah, the second book in the author's sci-fi series, which brings the story of Paul Atreides to a close. Keeping the casting in the Dune family is very cool though and speaks to the care Villeneuve puts into these movies. These characters should feel like they are part of this universe, and what better way to do that than for one of them to already be that. But, again, no official word on Dune Messiah's start or release dates. Rumors suggested a December 2026 release, but that seems highly unlikely at this point. When we find out, we'll let you know.
