Calvin Johnson thinks Davante Adams will 'adapt fairly quickly' to Matthew Stafford's arm
Hall-of-Fame receiver Calvin Johnson knows Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford well. The two played together on the Detroit Lions for most of Johnson's legendary career where Johnson made six Pro Bowls and three All-Pro teams.
So now that he's seen another great receiver, Davante Adams, join Stafford in L.A., Johnson has some thoughts. All positive, though.

Johnson told FanDuel TV's Kay Adams that receivers always need to adjust to Stafford's arm strength when they join his team, but Adams should have a much smaller learning curve given how long he played with Aaron Rodgers.
'I saw Davante grow into a very solid receiver,' Johnson said. 'A great receiver from his time in Green Bay to where he is now.
'Even though when a new receiver came to our team, they always had to adjust to the fastball that Matthew throws. I would imagine Aaron Rodgers having a similar arm strength, [Adams will] be able to adapt fairly quickly.'
Adams and Stafford have already begun to build a rapport during their brief time together as camps kick off this summer. Both are seasoned pros and understand how to work and adapt to different play styles.

The hope for the Rams is Adams can pick up the nuances quickly with a new quarterback help build a dominant offense alongside Puka Nacua with Stafford throwing them both the ball.

Look: Jalen Ramsey was in LA working out with Eric Weddle's son at USC
Jalen Ramsey and Eric Weddle won a Super Bowl together with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, going on an unforgettable playoff run after the former All-Pro safety came out of retirement for the final stretch. Weddle has since retired again but Ramsey remains one of the best defensive backs in football, and he's looking for a new team. Ramsey has been back in Los Angeles recently and on Thursday, he reunited with his fellow Super Bowl champion. Advertisement Ramsey linked up with Weddle for a workout with his son, Gaige, who's in high school and getting recruited to some big college programs. They hit the practice field on USC's campus, taking this photo together after their session. Ramsey shared Gaige's post and wrote, 'Can't wait to see you keep ballin!' Ramsey is still a member of the Miami Dolphins but he skipped mandatory minicamp while the team attempts to trade the All-Pro cornerback. He still considers Los Angeles home and spends time on the West Coast, which has fueled rumors about the possibility of the Rams bringing him back. While he awaits his fate on the trade market, Ramsey will continue putting in work in Los Angeles – and maybe he'll get to stay there long-term again. Adam Schefter gives update on Jalen Ramsey trade timeline, preferred teams
Where Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey ends up to start the 2025 NFL season is one of the biggest mysteries this summer. The veteran is widely expected to be traded away, but so far there have been few updates. Well, ESPN's Adam Schefter has some answers. Advertisement Schefter told The Pat McAfee Show this week that he expects Ramsey to be traded before the start of training camps and that he prefers to go to the West Coast — either the Los Angeles Rams or the Los Angeles Chargers." "Jalen Ramsey will get traded," Schefter said. "It'll be, I would expect before the start of training camp. We'll see how it shakes out, where he goes. I think he would like to go to the West Coast. To Los Angeles. Rams, Chargers, something like that." The Rams haven't said much about their purported interest in a reunion, although Ramsey was in L.A. recently to work out with ex-Rams and Chargers safety Eric Weddle. Advertisement Ramsey, 30, played four years with the Rams from 2019 to 2022 where he made three Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team. He racked up 242 combined tackles, 10 interceptions and defended 47 passes before L.A. traded him to the Dolphins ahead of the 2023 season. Bringing Ramsey back could be costly, but he would upgrade a mediocre secondary that returned the entire 2024 lineup that gave up the 26th-most passing yards during that season. But it takes two to tango, and the Rams may not want to pay up to bring back their star cornerback.
