Former New York Jets LB C.J. Mosley retires from the NFL
Former New York Jets LB C.J. Mosley retires from the NFL CJ Mosley has called it a career. The five-time Pro Bowler has retired from the NFL. The 33-year-old, who last played in the league with the New York Jets last season, announced he's hangin' them up on Thursday: Mosley has been a free agent since March. The Jets released him in March after he missed much of the 2024 season due to various injuries including a neck problem. Mosley being sidelined did allow Jamien Sherwood to step into the lineup and become the top linebacker on New York's defense. According to ESPN, Mosley was designated as a post-June 1 cut, which means his remaining dead-cap hit will be spread across the next two years. Those totals are $8.8 million this year and $7.7 million in 2026. Mosley joined the Jets via a five-year, $85 million deal in 2019. Mosley earned three-straight Pro Bowls with the Baltimore Ravens before heading to New York. From 2019 to 2024, Mosley only earned one Pro Bowl with the Jets. Jets Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2025 offseason.

Ravens 'Vengeance' Mission with Jaire Alexander Signing
Ravens 'Vengeance' Mission with Jaire Alexander Signing originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With visions of last season's heartbreaking loss to the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round of the AFC Playoffs still haunting the Baltimore Ravens, star quarterback Lamar Jackson had some poignant things to say in his first media availability since then. Advertisement "We're going to bounce back," Jackson said to reporters after Tuesday's minicamp practice. "And when we come back, I feel like we're going to have vengeance on our mind." He wasn't just speaking for the team. The front office is making another major move this offseason to take that revenge mindset to heart. After seemingly begging general manager Eric DeCosta to sign recently released superstar cornerback Jaire Alexander of the Green Bay Packers, Jackson got his wish. "Got him," said the team's social media in sharing Alexander putting pen to paper and signing with Baltimore. The one-year deal reportedly costs $4 million, with a chance to add $2 million in incentives. The move affirms Baltimore's desires of winning a Super Bowl in the next few years. Alexander joining the team, although he comes with some red flags, could open that title window slightly wider. Advertisement The Ravens remain one of the most complete teams on both sides of the ball. On defense, Alexander joins a star-studded secondary featuring cornerback Marlon Humphrey and safety Kyle Hamilton with promising young prospects Nate Wiggins and Malaki Starks in the fold also. Alexander, a former college teammate of Jackson's at Louisville, joins the flock as one of the most accomplished cornerbacks in football, holding two Pro Bowls and two All-Pro selections in seven seasons. When he is on the field, he is the cream of the crop ... but he's struggled more with his availability than his ability. Over the past two years, Alexander has played in just 14 total regular-season games due to numerous injuries, including groin, back, shoulder and knee issues. In 2024, he missed the Packer's last eight games. Advertisement Baltimore remains the clear favorites in the AFC North, but they're hoping this signing and vengeance mentality will push them over the top and wash away their playoff horrors of the past. Lamar Jackson's recent honor isn't one that should be swept under the rug
Lamar Jackson's recent honor isn't one that should be swept under the rug Lamar Jackson was presented with the Pro Football Writers of America MVP Award today at Minicamp. Lamar Jackson sat until the final selection of the 2018 NFL Draft's first round. That's kind of hard to believe now, isn't it? Four quarterbacks were taken before him. You're more than welcome to make your own theories about who they were and where they landed: Baker Mayfield (taken 1st overall), Sam Darnold (3rd), Josh Allen (7th), Josh Rosen (10th). Ozzie Newsome's final first-round selection as Baltimore Ravens GM was a jackpot addition. The guy we all refer to as 'Action' Jackson hasn't disappointed very often. Four Pro Bowls in his first seven seasons with the Baltimore Ravens have followed his selection (2019, 2021, 2023, 2024)... So have three First-Team All-Pro nods (2019, 2023, 2024)... He led the NFL in passing TDs during the 2019 NFL season. He was pro football's passer rating leader five years later. The Associated Press has twice named him the NFL's Most Valuable Player. Recently, he earned another well-earned distinction, but it got swept under the rug. That type of thinking should be changed immediately. Lamar Jackson accepts the PFWA MVP trophy For the third time, Lamar Jackson has been named the Pro Football Writers Association's MVP. He was presented with his trophy at Ravens minicamp. Things are seemingly going well, and it's easy to fall in love with the way things are progressing. He's connecting with his teammates and receivers. Baltimore recently announced the signing of his buddy Jaire Alexander. QB1 and The Flock have labeled the coming season as their revenge tour. Everyone approves. They took a step backward last January by being eliminated in a Divisional Round road game after losing a home AFC Championship Game one year prior. They've moved past disappointment to refocus. The coming campaign is about winning it all. As long as Lamar is in the mix, they have a shot at beating anyone they line up against. This recent honor indicates that his value as one of the game's best players is appreciated. Congratulations to QB1. This is another well-deserved mention, one that didn't get enough press. Consider this an attempt to right that wrong and offer credit where credit is due.

Anonymous NFL coordinator praises Vikings draft selection as '10-year starter'
Anonymous NFL coordinator praises Vikings draft selection as '10-year starter' Whenever an offensive lineman is drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft, it can be met with a yawn from fans. However, when the teams and the front offices look at them, they are seen as building blocks towards the bigger picture. That bigger picture includes running lanes and keeping a quarterback's jersey clean, like infrastructure spending. The Vikings made a pick like that in April when they selected Donovan Jackson, the Ohio State guard, with the 24th overall pick. Other players on the board could have been more exciting, but Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kevin O'Connell knew they wanted J.J. McCarthy to have every reason to succeed. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler recently reported it wasn't just people within the Vikings facility who were fans of the pick, but also people outside of it. He revealed when speaking with an anonymous NFL coordinator that he described Jackson as, "You know why I really like this pick? He's going to be a solid 10-year starter. Not sure he's elite, but he will make a few Pro Bowls and be a really good player for a long time." Jackson joins Ryan Kelly and Will Fries as new starters within the interior of the Vikings' offensive line in 2024. Jackson's projection as a 10-year starter fits in with the Vikings' view of McCarthy as their long-term quarterback answer. We rarely see Buckeyes and Wolverines work well together, but these two will put those allegiances aside for their Super Bowl aspirations.

2 Former Indianapolis Colts make ESPN's All-Quarter Century team
2 Former Indianapolis Colts make ESPN's All-Quarter Century team Two former members of the Indianapolis Colts made ESPN's All-Quarter Century team. Two former members of the Indianapolis Colts made ESPN's All-Quarter Century team. Recently, Aaron Schatz and Seth Walder constructed a 53-man roster made up of the best players over the last 25 years in the NFL. Included at the quarterback position was Peyton Manning, along with Tom Brady, and Patrick Mahomes. Meanwhile, at wide receiver was Marvin Harrison, who was joined by Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones, Terrell Owens, and Justin Jefferson. The No. 1 overall pick by the Colts in 1998, Manning played 13 years with the team, which included winning a Super Bowl, making 11 Pro Bowls, five first-team All-Pros, and being named the league MVP four times. As a member of the Colts, Manning would throw for almost 55,000 yards with 399 touchdowns while completing 65% of his passes. "Manning ranks second behind Brady in DYAR since 2000," wrote ESPN. "He has three of the top five seasons for total passing value -- 2013, 2004 and 2006. His 2004 season has the highest passing DVOA (value per play) of any season since 1978. And while QBR doesn't go back as far, Manning's 2006 season is the second-highest QBR behind Brady's 2007 season." Harrison played all 13 seasons with the Colts. He is a Hall of Famer, an eight-time Pro Bowler, a three-time All-Pro, and a Super Bowl Champion. He finished his career with eight 1,000-plus yard seasons, which included leading the NFL in receiving yards twice during the 1999 and 2022 seasons. Harrison also hauled in 1,102 receptions and 128 touchdowns. "Harrison didn't miss a first- or second-team All-Pro selection from 1999 to 2006," wrote ESPN. "Although he only led the NFL one time each in receiving yards (2002) and receiving touchdowns (2005), he led the NFL in receiving DYAR three times: 2001, 2002 and 2006." Both Manning and Harrison are also members of the Colts' Ring of Honor.
