Adam Schefter gives update on Jalen Ramsey trade timeline, preferred teams
Where Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey ends up to start the 2025 NFL season is one of the biggest mysteries this summer. The veteran is widely expected to be traded away, but so far there have been few updates.
Well, ESPN's Adam Schefter has some answers.
Schefter told The Pat McAfee Show this week that he expects Ramsey to be traded before the start of training camps and that he prefers to go to the West Coast — either the Los Angeles Rams or the Los Angeles Chargers."
"Jalen Ramsey will get traded," Schefter said. "It'll be, I would expect before the start of training camp. We'll see how it shakes out, where he goes. I think he would like to go to the West Coast. To Los Angeles. Rams, Chargers, something like that."
The Rams haven't said much about their purported interest in a reunion, although Ramsey was in L.A. recently to work out with ex-Rams and Chargers safety Eric Weddle.
Ramsey, 30, played four years with the Rams from 2019 to 2022 where he made three Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team. He racked up 242 combined tackles, 10 interceptions and defended 47 passes before L.A. traded him to the Dolphins ahead of the 2023 season.
Bringing Ramsey back could be costly, but he would upgrade a mediocre secondary that returned the entire 2024 lineup that gave up the 26th-most passing yards during that season. But it takes two to tango, and the Rams may not want to pay up to bring back their star cornerback.

NFL Insider remains confident Dolphins' Jalen Ramsey trade 'will get done'
The Miami Dolphins have been looking to move cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey was an excused absence from Dolphins minicamp as the franchise works to deal the 30-year-old star. On Friday, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter provided an update on the Dolphins' pursuit of a Ramsey trade during his appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show." "The Dolphins continue to have conversations about trading Jalen Ramsey and I think that a trade there will get done. The question is, when does it get done? Does it get done next week? The week after? Prior to the start of training camp? "I don't know exactly when it's going to be, but Jalen Ramsey will get traded. It'll be I would expect before the start of training camp. We'll see how it shakes out, where he goes. I think he would like to go to the West Coast, to Los Angeles. Rams, Chargers, somewhere like that. And we'll see how that happens," Schefter said. The Rams have been one of the popular rumored landing spots for Ramsey throughout this process. The seven-time Pro Bowler won Super Bowl LVI with the Rams and was a first-team All-Pro in 2020 and 2021 in Los Angeles. Rams head coach Sean McVay downplayed the idea recently, noting the obstacles that could exist with a Ramsey deal. While nothing appears imminent, it's good news for Dolphins fans that Schefter still expects Miami to eventually iron down a trade partner.

Adam Schefter reveals bad news for potential Jalen Ramsey, Steelers trade
The Jalen Ramsey-to-Pittsburgh train may be coming to a halt — as prominent insider Adam Schefter revealed some troubling news for a potential Steelers trade. On a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Schefter was asked if there were any more rumors he could shed light on — and he chose to address the Ramsey situation: "The Dolphins continue to have conversations about trading Jalen Ramsey," Schefter said. "And I think that a trade there will get done. The question is, when does it get done? Does it get done next week, the week after, prior to the start of training camp? I don't know exactly when it's gonna be — but Jalen Ramsey will get traded. It'll be, I would expect, before the start of training camp. We'll see how it shakes out — where he goes. I think he would like to go to the West Coast, to Los Angeles — Rams, Chargers, somewhere like that." The Rams were previously linked as a trade suitor for Ramsey, but the Chargers also seem like a solid fit for the Dolphins cornerback — much to the dismay of Pittsburgh. All speculation and rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, as it was previously reported that DK Metcalf wanted to stay on the West Coast — right before he was traded to the Steelers.
