15 years of Yas Island: 15 wonderful things you must check out
Fifteen years of all-star fun…
Abu Dhabi's own island of thrills, Yas Island, is celebrating its fifteenth birthday – and on that note, here are 15 things to do, see, and experience on Yas Island. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi
This is the ultimate celebration of the world's favourite supercar. From the fastest rollercoaster in the world, to simulator experiences, to an incredible Italian restaurant, to a roof-walking experience – all Ferrari themed – you'll want to visit Ferrari World Abu Dhabi if you're a Ferrari fan. If you're not, visit and become one. CLYMB Abu Dhabi
Long before you enter the building, you'll see it – a rock-shaped roof by Yas Mall that mysteriously pulls you closer until you realise you're inside. Double Guinness World Record holder, CLYMB Abu Dhabi boasts the world's largest indoor skydiving wind tunnel (32ft. in diametre and 179.2ft in height), plus the world's tallest indoor artificial climbing wall (138ft). Did we also mention it was fabulously fun? Yas Marina Circuit
All else aside, this is the home of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – the season closer and arguably the most thrilling race on the Formula 1 calendar. It's more than a race though – it's the ultimate weekend of fun, entertainment, adrenaline-soaked achievements, record-busting concerts, food, friends, family…the list is endless. But aside from the Abu Dhabi GP, there's more to be enjoyed at YMC throughout the year, such as… Yas Marina Circuit Driving Experiences
If you thought only the seasoned superstars were allowed to take to the asphalt here, there's good news for you: you can, too. Satisfy your need for speed with exclusive experiences. Fancy getting behind the wheel of a Ferrari 458? An Aston Martin GT4? Consider it done. Warner Bros. World™ Abu Dhabi
Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is a fully air-conditioned, indoor theme park spanning 1.65 million square feet, featuring 29 rides and attractions across six immersive zones. It's the perfect destination for fans of DC superheroes, classic cartoons, and family-friendly fun, and whether you're planning the trip for your kids or to roll back the years in a wave of nostalgia, this spot is guaranteed to impress. Etihad Arena
Heavy hitter, indeed. Home to Abu Dhabi's, nay, the UAE's (and usually even the region's) biggest concerts, shows, plays, performances, UFC fights, NBA Games – you name it, this 18,000 capacity entertainment hub stands tall on Yas Island, bringing the best in the world to Abu Dhabi. Yas Bay Waterfront
If we're talking about the Etihad Arena, it's impossible not to think about Yas Bay. Home to some of Abu Dhabi's finest eats, you'll find everything here from an upscale steakhouse to the finest tacos to a good ol' Irish pub. It's also a gorgeous spot to catch the Abu Dhabi sunset, so don't blame yourself if you've realised you just spent a whole day here. Yas Marina
For gorgeous marina views and strolls, Yas Marina is the place to be. It's also home to prized eats such as Cipriani, Mika, Iris and Diablito, and is a lot calmer than other dining hotspots on Yas Bay. Except during Formula One weekend, of course. Etihad Park
Home to Abu Dhabi's Yasalam After Race Concerts, Etihad Park is a 25,000-strong open-air venue (pretty sure we spotted way more fans) that's hosted some of the biggest names in the world. Eminem performed here last December, Metallica is on their way next. This is where you head to during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix once you're done catching the on-track action. Yas Beach
Yas Island, like a lot of Abu Dhabi's other islands, is home to a gorgeous beach of its own. With white sands, clear blue waters and that signature Abu Dhabi tranquility, it's ideal for the beach gateway you've been wanting to take, whether it's just glorious rays or water sports that speak to you. Yas Mall
One of Abu Dhabi's top retail hubs and also its largest, this massive destination by Al Dar Properties features over 370 international brands, 68 dining options, a 24-screen VOX Cinemas multiplex, family entertainment zones and has direct access to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. The Fountains
Also a part of Yas Mall, you have to visit The Fountains when you head to Yas Mall, for Abu Dhabi's best dancing fountain show. Shows are 30 minutes long, and you can watch them with or without music. Yas Links
Like the name might suggest, Yas Links Abu Dhabi is the Middle East's first true links golf course. The Par 72 championship course ranks among the world's top courses, and the resort includes a luxurious clubhouse, golf academy, gym, spa, pool, and practice facilities. Like any award-winning golfing facility, it also houses its share of eats, such as Hickory's and Crafty Fox. Yas KartZone
Whether you're a budding racer, or just in the mood for some karting fun, Yas Kartzone offers you an exhilarating karting experience, no matter what your age is. The facility features a 1-kilometer outdoor track with three configurations – and is the ideal fun family outing (or a great setting for a competitive race – whatever you prefer). Yas Waterworld

Catch these 5 massive movies in Dubai this summer
If heading to the mall is on the top of your 'Ways to escape summer' plans, why not add in a movie to your shopping experience? Over the next few months, there are a number of top movies being released, giving you the perfect excuse to sit back, relax, and enjoy some entertainment in the cool AC. Here are 5 movies you don't want to miss this summer in Dubai F1 Release date: June 26 Formula 1 fans, time to take your place on the grid as F1 finally roars into theatres on June 26. The movie which took four years to produce, is directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on Top Gun: Maverick . It stars Brad Pitt, Damson Idris and even the current Formula 1 drivers, including Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly. The movie follows Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a promising driver who had an accident that nearly ended his career. 30 years later, the owner of a struggling Formula 1 team convinces him to return to racing and become 'the best in the world.' Driving alongside the team's hotshot, Sonny learns the road to redemption is not an easy task, and not one to travel alone. Will Formula 1 fans give this movie the champagne celebration it deserves, or will it be a 'DNF'? We will have to wait and see. Keep your eyes peeled as some of the scenes were shot in our very own Abu Dhabi. PS. Our review of the movie will be out shortly after its release, so stay tuned. Get your tickets here. Jurassic World Rebirth Release date: July 3 For fans of the franchise…our terrifying, scaly friends are back on the big screen this July. Now in its seventh installment, the roaring action of Jurassic Park Rebirth takes place several years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion . We will join a team of scientists heading to a remote island on a mission to secure some genetic material that could possibly be a medical breakthrough that could save thousands of lives. If you thought the dinosaurs from past editions were scary, well… you'd be wrong. The ones on this island were deemed too dangerous for the original park, and we are about to meet them…and something a lot more disturbing. The movie stars Scarlett Johanson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey and Rupert Friend. Get your tickets here. Superman Release date: July 10 If you're out of touch with this iconic DC Comics character, thankfully you don't need to start from scratch, as director James Gunn has designed it to be a fresh starting point for new viewers. We bid a teary farewell to Henry Cavill and welcome David Corenswet who soared into action, taking over the blue and red suit. The plot, however (and as with most superhero movies), is hard to pinpoint. What we do know is Clark Kent is working as a reporter at the Daily Planet newspaper with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), and he is trying to live a normal life, or at least a balanced one. But are things really that simple? He faces trouble when Lex Luthor – a smart and powerful enemy – comes in his way. While we're obviously used to seeing Superman dominate in the 'good versus evil' theme, this movie showcases a Superman that is driven by compassion with an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind. Get your tickets here. The Naked Gun Release date: July 15 Remember protagonist Detective Sergeant Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen)? How could you forget him? The bumbling police lieutenant – without a doubt – bought the giggles with his performance in The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad as he somehow managed to save the day without even realising it. And now… 27 years later, we are being gifted a reboot. Meet Frank Drebin Jr (Liam Neeson), the son of Frank Drebin. He too, is a bumbling cop. What can we say… like father, like son. Drebin Junior's quirky police department is in danger of being shut down unless he can crack a major case. He teams up with Beth (played by the one and only Pamela Anderson) to solve her brother's murder… but not without stumbling through it all. Expect the classic gags, nods to the original movie, and modern twists. It's pure, chaotic, old-school comedy. Sinner and singer Bocelli strike up partnership for new single
World number one Jannik Sinner has formed a new doubles partnership but the duo will be battling for chart success rather than Grand Slam titles after the Italian released a single with compatriot and opera tenor Andrea Bocelli on Friday. The three-time Grand Slam champion Sinner promoted the song titled 'Polvere e Gloria' or 'Dust and Glory' on Instagram. The video features footage from the pair's childhoods and more recent clips of the singer and Sinner, clutching a racket and tennis ball, in front of a piano in Bocelli's home in Tuscany. Sinner's speeches form part of the song, which is in Italian and English, with Bocelli in full flow. "Every life is a potential work of art: each of us bears the sweet responsibility of nurturing our talents in the daily acrobatics of living, pursuing our dreams while remaining steadfastly true to our values," the pair wrote on Instagram. "This duet is such a bold leap that it has ignited our passion, born of shared and unwavering desire to express our deep belief that nothing is impossible." Sinner, the US Open and Australian Open champion, said he was honoured to be part of the project with Bocelli, describing the singer as a "unique and extraordinary voice" and "a flag for our country in the rest of the world". "I could never have imagined hearing my voice in one of his songs. It's extremely moving," the 23-year-old added. Sinner, who was beaten by Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in an epic French Open final earlier this month, lost in the last 16 of the Halle Open on Thursday in a blow to his preparations for Wimbledon which gets underway on June 30. An incredible Bvlgari resort is coming to Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi's luxury hospitality scene is set for a major glow-up. Italian luxury brand Bvlgari has announced a new resort and private mansions development in the UAE capital, in partnership with local real estate powerhouse Eagle Hills. The project, named Bvlgari Resort & Mansions Abu Dhabi, is set to open in 2030 and promises to become one of the region's most exclusive escapes and one of Abu Dhabi's best hotels. The new destination will be set on a private, horseshoe-shaped island with sweeping views of the open sea on one side and the iconic Qasr Al Watan and Abu Dhabi skyline on the other. Think total seclusion, a dramatic sense of arrival and sunset views that could rival any in the region. Access will be via a purpose-built bridge or by sea, adding to the resort's sense of privacy and exclusivity. The project will include a luxury resort with 60 rooms and suites, 30 beachside villas with private pools and 90 high-end mansions. Each element is designed to blend Italian elegance with Arabian heritage, with architecture by Milan-based ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and landscape design by LAND SRL. The vision? A sculptural, gold-and-glass retreat rising from the sand – infused with regional identity and international flair. Guests can without a doubt expect the full Bvlgari experience: impeccable design, flawless service and world-class dining. The resort will feature signature restaurants such as Il Ristorante – Niko Romito, curated by award-winning chef and Hōseki, Bvlgari's exclusive Japanese concept. Also on offer will be a refined Turkish restaurant, the stylish Bvlgari Bar, La Spiaggia beachside dining and the brand's much-loved Il Caffè and Bvlgari Dolci. We're seriously not complaining. A standout wellness offering is also in the works. The resort will house a 2,000 sqm spa with a 25-meter lap pool, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and a landscaped wellness sanctuary designed to pay tribute to the region's cultural and environmental traditions. There's also a 40-berth private marina and Yacht Club with an exclusive membership programme, private beach and extensive water sports options, all designed to elevate the coastal lifestyle experience. For those looking to call this place home, the 90 private mansions – some with their own docks, no less, others with uninterrupted sea or cove views – promise a new level of waterfront living. Ranging from 1,650 to 2,500 sqm, the homes will come with private beaches, sweeping views and designs that fuse local influence with global sophistication. Behind the development is Eagle Hills, the real estate firm founded by Mohamed Alabbar, the name behind projects like Downtown Dubai and the Belgrade Waterfront. With developments in over 18 countries, Eagle Hills is no stranger to crafting destination landmarks – and this latest collaboration with Bvlgari looks set to do just that. The opening may still be five years away, but Bvlgari Resort & Mansions Abu Dhabi is already shaping up to be one of the capital's most talked-about future addresses. Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bvlgari said: 'With Bvlgari Resort & Mansions Abu Dhabi, we continue our magnificent journey of bringing Bvlgari's distinctive elegance and craftsmanship to the world's most remarkable destinations. 'This project is a tribute to Abu Dhabi's unique cultural identity, blending timeless sophistication with modern luxury. This project will set a new milestone in Haute Hospitality and I'm particularly happy to develop it with our long-standing Retail Partner and friend, Mohamed Alabbar, always striving for the highest standards'. Mohamed Alabbar, Founder and Chairman of Eagle Hills, added: 'Abu Dhabi has always stood for vision and grace. This partnership with Bvlgari reaffirms our commitment to placing the Emirate at the epicentre of luxury living – where exceptional design, exclusivity, and Arabian soul converge.' Patricia Viel, CEO of ACPV ARCHITECTS, said: 'The project captures the best aspects of its location – secluded and immersed in nature and the sea – while remaining within easy reach of central Abu Dhabi. 'Life on the island is enriched by a diverse landscape, carefully designed environments, and sweeping views of both the sea and the city. The Bulgari Resort & Mansions offers a thoughtfully curated setting that fosters a strong sense of place. The interplay of architecture, natural surroundings, and exceptional amenities creates a distinctive and refined living environment.'
