Kathryn Newton cast with Lana Condor in shark thriller Devil's Mouth
Kathryn Newton and Lana Condor have been cast in new thriller 'Devil's Mouth'.
The 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' star will appear alongside 'Coyote vs. Acme' actress Lana in filmmaker Jeff Wadlow's upcoming survival film.
The movie - which is being co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Lionsgate - will see college friends on their way to Thailand, who get stuck in an underwater cave system with a bull shark.
Wadlow will be directing from a script by The Staircase's Aja Gabel and 'Star Wars: Skeleton Crew' scribe Myung Joh Wesner.
Back in March, it was revealed Newton will also be starring in the upcoming 'Ready or Not' sequel, alongside a returning Samara Weaving.
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are again directing the film from a script written by 'Ready or Not' writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy.
She previously worked with the directing duo on 2024 horror 'Abigail', and she's delighted for the upcoming reunion.
She wrote on her Instagram Story: "So grateful to be back with my favorite directors!!! Love you @mattbettinelliolpin and @tylergillett thank you.'
The first film followed Grace (weaving), a young bride played by Weaving who was hunted by the rich family of her new husband (Mark O'Brien) as part of a deadly supernatural tradition.
The original film grossed almost $58 million at the global box office and was a hit with critics.
Weaving recently confirmed she was coming back for the sequel.
She told ComicBook.com: 'I'm all in. I think we're all in, I don't know. I think we're all in. I don't know if we've had our blood handshake, but pretty much. We've done the spit handshake, but we haven't cut each other's hands and rubbed our blood together.'
Meanwhile, Newton previously admitted playing Cassie Lang in 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' was a dream come true.
She told Empire magazine: "I started watching those movies when I was eight years old. So they're a big part of my life.
"Honestly, one of the biggest goals of my career was to be a Marvel superhero. I would do it forever if I could."
Despite this, she remains determined to try her hand at different roles and on-screen challenges over the coming years.
The actress was just four years old when she landed her first role in 'Bun-Bun', a short film for HBO, and she remains as enthusiastic about her work as she ever has been.
Recalling her debut appearance, she said: "I didn't even say my lines half of the time. I just thought I was dressing up."

Jake Gyllenhaal set for Code Black
Jake Gyllenhaal is to star in Code Black. The 44-year-old actor's Nine Stories are to develop the political thriller, which is based on a new short story by Harrison Query, as a starring vehicle for Jake, with the film's rights secured by Amazon MGM Studios as part of their first-look deal with the company, Deadline reports. Amazon MGM secured the rights for a guaranteed seven-figure sum, in what is believed to be one of the biggest deals of all times for a short story. Harrison himself will adapt the tale for the big screen. Code Black will see Jake play the US' top heart surgeon, who is flown to Washington D.C. to carry out a high-stakes operation, only to be embroiled in a trap that he needs to work his way out of to stop a plot that threatens both his family and the country. As well as Jake and Nine Stories' Josh McLaughlin, producers in talks for the film include Lynn Harris and Matt Reeves of 6th + Idaho, and Scott Glassgold of 12:01 Films. Nine Stories' three-year deal with Amazon MGM Studios was announced in April last year. As well as 'Road House', which was helmed by Doug Liman, Jake starred in Guy Ritchie's 'The Covenant' for Amazon MGM Studios before inking the deal. He said in a statement at the time: "I've worked with Amazon MGM on two films this past year, and they've been a wonderful partner both times. "Their dedication to filmmaking is contagious, and I so admire their commitment to fans all over the world. I am thrilled to formalise what is an already fruitful collaboration-especially on the heels of Road House's outstanding debut.' Julie Rapaport, head of film production and development at Amazon MGM Studios, commented: "Jake is a one-of-a-kind talent whose passion and eye for filmmaking makes him a powerful storyteller both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Spaceballs: Lewis Pullman in talks to star alongside father Bill Pullman in sequel
Lewis Pullman is in negotiations to appear in the Spaceballs sequel. The Thunderbolts* actor, 32, is in talks to star in the upcoming follow-up to Mel Brooks' 1987 sci-fi parody movie alongside his 71-year-old father, Bill Pullman, The Hollywood Reporter has said. Bill Pullman will be returning as his Han Solo-esque character Lone Starr, while Rick Moranis is slated to reprise his role as Dark Helmet in what will be his first on-screen cinematic appearance in nearly 30 years. Daphne Zuniga - who played Princess Vespa in the original flick - is also expected to come back for the sequel. While Brooks is not due to direct the Spaceballs follow-up, the 98-year-old filmmaker will reprise his role as Yogurt in the movie, with Will and Harper director Josh Greenbaum set to helm the project for Amazon MGM Studios. Rounding out the cast of the Spaceballs sequel is Keke Palmer, who has reportedly boarded the project in an undisclosed role, according to Deadline. While plot details about the Spaceballs follow-up are being kept under wraps, it has been described as 'a non-prequel, non-reboot sequel part two, but with reboot elements, franchise expansion film'. The flick is being written by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Josh Gad, with the latter scribe also expected to star in and produce the film alongside Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer and Jeb Brody, Brooks and Greenbaum. Meanwhile, Kevin Salter, Adam Merims, Samit, and Hernandez are to serve as executive producers. The Spaceballs sequel is slated to hit screens in 2027. Spaceballs - which parodied sci-fi franchises like Star Wars, Star Trek and Planet of the Apes - followed Lone Starr (Pullman) and his loyal sidekick who are hired to rescue Princess Vespa (Zuniga), only to uncover Dark Helmet's (Moranis) plan to steal an entire planet's air supply. In November, Gad teased he and the writing team had finished the first draft for the Spaceballs sequel. He told Forbes: 'Without MGM taking me into their Culver prison cells, I can tell you that the draft is done. 'Everybody who's read it has been blown away. The process of working on this with and alongside Mel Brooks has been one of the highlights of my career.' The Frozen star added the whole experience has been 'sort of a fever dream', and said Brooks 'has been so unbelievably supportive, involved, and electrified by this because it's the one that surprisingly got away'. He gushed: 'It's a dream to be able to finally make the reality prophesied by Yogurt in the first movie happen. I can't say more than that. 'I can't tell you anything beyond [the] process at this point, but I can tell you every hour of every day right now is spent making this project closer and closer to reality — and I think we're nearing the end zone here.'

Patrick Schwarzenegger and Margaret Qualley to team up for romantic drama
Patrick Schwarzenegger is to star in Love Of Your Life. The White Lotus actor will reportedly appear opposite Margaret Qualley in the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios movie, which will be directed by Rachel Morrison. Julia Cox wrote the script, and according to the Hollywood Reporter, the emotional drama follows a young woman (Qualley), who loses her husband goes on a journey to find a way to move on with her life, while Schwarzenegger will play an old friend and former lover. Ryan Gosling and Jessie Henderson will produce Love Of Your Life through their Open Invite Entertainment banner, which was previously known as General Admission. Filming is scheduled to begin in Europe in August. Meanwhile, Patrick recently admitted he'd love to take the lead role in the upcoming American Psycho remake. One fan wrote on X recently: 'Patrick Schwarzenegger, I've found your breakout role.' To which, the actor replied: 'I'd love nothing more [wink].' Luca Guadagnino is making a modern version of the 2000 Mary Harron horror classic - which starred Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, a New York City investment banker who leads a double life as a serial killer - and recently teased 'the script is coming out very handsomely' for the flick. Appearing in a video segment at CinemaCon, the filmmaker said: 'We are really working hard to bring to the screen a new adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' American Psycho, a book that I deeply love that is something that influenced me so much. '[Writer Scott Z. Burns] is doing an incredible job. The script is coming out very handsomely.' Although Guadagnino didn't reveal any of the cast for his American Psycho movie, the director teased he was currently in 'conversation with very exciting performers to play the leads." Last December, it was reported that Austin Butler would play Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. The new film won't be a direct remake of the 2000 movie, with Guadagnino's version poised to be a new take on the story that will have a more significant erotic emphasis than the original picture. Lionsgate film chief Adam Fogelson previously described the director as the 'perfect visionary' to helm the new cinematic iteration of American Psycho. He said in a statement: 'We are thrilled to add another elite filmmaker to our upcoming slate. Luca is a brilliant artist, and the perfect visionary to create a whole new interpretation of this potent and classic IP.'
