Madonna Teams Up With Shawn Levy and Netflix For a Limited Series Based on Her Life: Report
Madonna fans have been waiting for years to see the Queen of Pop get her very own biopic — and according to a new report, they may finally get to see one.
According to a report from Deadline on Monday (May 12), Madonna has teamed up with Deadpool & Wolverine producer Shawn Levy to develop a limited series based on her life and career for Netflix. Levy's production company 21 Laps currently has an exclusive deal with Netflix.

Billboard reached out to representatives for Madonna and Netflix for comment.
The new project is apparently not related to a much-discussed and since-delayed feature film based on Madonna's life. The project, which was being developed by Universal Pictures and set to star Ozark and Inventing Anna actress Julia Garner as the pop superstar, was put on an indefinite hold in 2023 as Madonna embarked on her Celebration World Tour.
In 2024, however, Madonna sparked rumors that the film might be back in the works, when she shared a since-deleted photo of herself sitting at a typewriter working on a screenplay titled Who's That Girl — an apparent nod to her 1987 film and song of the same name.
Still, Madonna herself floated the idea of creating a TV series about her life in November of last year, claiming that a number of 'producers and agents' told her that she wouldn't be able to make her film the way she wanted to. 'Downsize-down scale-think smaller-they say—I realized that everything in my life is going to be challenged,' she wrote in a since-removed post, before asking her fans if they would prefer to see her story adapted into 'a series or a feature film.'

Forrest Frank Rules Top Gabb Music Songs Chart for Second Month, Charts 5 Songs in All
Forrest Frank's 'Your Way's Better' stalled the three-month reign of Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars' 'Die With a Smile' on the monthly Top Gabb Music Songs chart when it reached No. 1 on the April 2025 tally, and now he's joined Gaga and Mars as the only other act with a multi-month No. 1, reigning again on the May 2025 survey. Billboard has partnered with Gabb Wireless, a phone company for kids and teens, to present a monthly chart tracking on-demand streams via its Gabb Music platform. Gabb Music offers a vast catalog of songs, all of which are selected by the Gabb team to include only kid- and teen-appropriate content. Gabb Music streams are not currently factored into any other Billboard charts. The song has topped the Hot Christian Songs chart for the last five weeks (dating to May 24) and has reached a best so far of No. 61 on the all-format Billboard Hot 100. It ranks at No. 68 on the latest list. 'Your Way's Better' is one of a whopping five Frank songs on the May 2025 Top Gabb Music Songs chart, thanks to a pair of debuts joining the three songs he already boasted on the ranking. 'No L's' and 'B.I.G.' debut at Nos. 14 and 19, respectively, while 'Drop!' reaches a new peak of No. 13 and 'Up!,' a collaboration with Connor Price, remains at its No. 25 best. Frank's five songs on the ranking equals the record set by Imagine Dragons on the inaugural Top Gabb Music Songs list for October 2024 — though notably, while Frank has the No. 1 song, Imagine Dragons' best that month was No. 16, with 'Bones.' Other moves on the latest chart include a three-spot leap for Alex Warren's 'Ordinary,' which reaches a new peak of No. 3 after its No. 6 debut on the April tally. 'Ordinary' has spent two weeks so far at No. 1 on the Hot 100, beginning with the June 7 survey. The only non-Frank debut of the week belongs to Morgan Wallen, whose 'What I Want,' which features Tate McRae, starts at No. 11. It was also a No. 1 on the Hot 100, debuting atop the May 31 list. Ed Sheeran Describes Working on F1 Movie Song as a 'Match Made in Heaven'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Ed Sheeran has unveiled an official song of the upcoming F1 movie called 'Drive' on Instagram and shared that working on a project related to Formula One was "a match made in heaven." Set to release on June 25 (June 27 for North America), F1 promises fans to instantly connect with the sport, given the strong emphasis on authenticity while filming. The story is about a veteran driver, Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, who returns to an underdog F1 team to mentor a young driver, portrayed by Damson Idris. Co-produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Joseph Kosinski, famous for his work on Top Gun: Maverick, F1 promises high-speed drama while keeping F1 realism in check. Ed Sheeran poses for a photo outside the Oracle Red Bull Racing garage prior to Sprint Qualifying ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Miami at Miami International Autodrome on May 03, 2024 in Miami, Florida. MoreWhile critics have weighed in on the F1 movie, very little has been spoken about the official song and the artists who composed it. Now, Ed Sheeran has opened up about his song 'Drive,' sharing how he enjoys making songs for movies and how his past association with F1 just made everything better. He wrote: "I got asked to do a song for the F1 movie. I knew that I wanted to make a proper rock song for it, a proper driving song. something you'd wanna turn up to the fullest amount whilst driving. I wrote it in the studio with Blake Slatkin and John Mayer, then we got Pino Palladino and Dave Grohl to be the final jigsaw pieces of the song. Pure dream team for the genre of rock, and I really feel what we created fits the scene in the movie so well. [sic] "I LOVE making songs for movies, ever since I did I See Fire for The Hobbit. It really lets me as a movie fan, behind the curtain, help create the perfect song for a scene in a movie. Movies and art are the only hobbies outside of music I really have, and I love my time at the F1 whenever I get to go play there. So this was like a match made in heaven. I'm so honoured to work with such great musicians on it, and hope you guys love the end result. drive out now" [sic] Ed Sheeran performed at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix last year and revealed that he was a big F1 fan. However, most of his knowledge about the sport came from Netflix's Drive to Survive docuseries, which he described as the "best crash course" for F1. He said: "I watched all of Drive to Survive and I guess that's like the best crash course that you can do in it is just watch that and most people that I know that love it now are into it through that. "I'm just about to do the hot lap with George Russell which will be fun. I met Verstappen last time who was lovely. I'm meeting Leclerc later and yeah, it's good."
