‘Hamilton' star Anthony Ramos calls out Madonna for her behavior at Broadway show: ‘Door's right there'

History was happening in Manhattan — and Madonna was on her iPad. 'Hamilton' actor Anthony Ramos is calling out the pop star for her behavior when she attended the Tony-winning Broadway show years ago. 'I'm like, 'If you not enjoying it that much, you know the door's right there. You ain't got to stay here.'' The Post reached out to a rep for Madonna for comment. Lin-Manuel Miranda — who starred as Alexander Hamilton and also wrote the book and music — tweeted about the incident at the time. 'Tonight was the first time I asked stage management NOT to allow a celebrity (who was texting all through Act 2) backstage. #noselfieforyou,' he wrote at the time. 8 Anthony Ramos performs on stage during 'Hamilton' GRAMMY performance. 'Madonna had already made a generous donation.' 8 Madonna performs onstage during 'The Celebration Tour' at Copacabana beach on May 4, 2024. The 'Vogue' artist is no stranger to Broadway, having starred in the play 'Speed-the-Plow' by David Mamet play in 1988. Then, in 1996, Madonna portrayed Eva Perón in the film adaptation of 'Evita.' 'But she was downstairs at the Mitzi Newhouse when I was upstairs doing 'Anything Goes' in the Vivian Beaumont, and a press agent actually put a sign up that there was only one diva allowed in this theater at a time. It wasn't me! It was the press agent that did it. I don't know whether she ever found out about it. I did meet her after her opening night party, and the only thing that Madonna has ever said to me was, 'I'm taller than you.' She's dead behind the eyes. She cannot act her way out of a paper bag. She should not be in film or on stage. She's a wonderful performer for what she does, but she's not an actress. Bing!'

Anthony Ramos Calls Out Madonna's Actions During Hamilton

Don't ask Madonna what happens in the stage show Hamilton. In a new interview, original cast member Anthony Ramos appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, where he was asked who the most "terrifying celebrity" in the audience was during his run as John Laurens in Hamilton. Anthony cited a 2015 incident in response. 'The most terrifying was Madonna with her iPad in her face. She was like this the whole time,' Anthony said, mimicking looking down at a screen. He added, 'I was like, 'Damn, shorty. If you're not enjoying it that much, you know the door is right there. You don't have to stay here.'' The moment occurred during the show's Off-Broadway run at The Public Theater. Interestingly, at the time Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted-and-deleted, "Tonight was the first time I asked stage management NOT to allow a celebrity (who was texting all through Act 2) backstage #noselfieforyou." A rep for Madonna subsequently denied the speculation. However, Jonathan Groff was later asked if he was disappointed that Madonna wasn't allowed backstage, to which he said, "No. Because that bitch was on her phone. You couldn't miss it from the stage. It was a black void of the audience in front of us and her face there perfectly lit by the light of her iPhone through three-quarters of the show." There we have it: The rehashing of a decade-old Broadway beef.

Hamilton star Anthony Ramos calls out Madonna for using iPad during Broadway performance

Anthony Ramos says Madonna lit up the whole theatre with her iPad during a performance of Hamilton on Broadway. The 33-year-old actor originated the dual roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the Broadway show and is among a group of Hamilton actors to speak out on Madonna's alleged behavior in the audience. Appearing on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live on Thursday (19.06.25), Ramos said: 'The most terrifying was Madonna with her iPad in her face. She was like this [shining a light] the whole time. 'I was like, 'Damn, shorty. If you're not enjoying it that much, you know the door is right there. You don't have to stay here.'' Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the musical who played Alexander Hamilton, also appeared to call out The Queen of Pop in a since-deleted post on Twitter in April 2015. He penned at the time: 'Tonight was the first time I asked stage management NOT to allow a celebrity (who was texting all through Act 2) backstage. #noselfieforyou." However, the Like a Virgin hitmaker's publicist rubbished the claim, telling Us Weekly: "It's not true. She was invited backstage four different times. She texted post show when they were doing their fundraising pitch. Madonna had already made a generous donation.' Jonathan Groff, who starred as King George, also fumed 'that b**** was on her phone.' He said at the time: 'You couldn't miss it from the stage. 'It was a black void of the audience in front of us and her face there perfectly lit by the light of her iPhone through three-quarters of the show.'

Slane Castle open for public tributes to Lord Henry Mount Charles

The family of Lord Henry Mount Charles will open the gates of Slane Castle this weekend, inviting members of the public to pay their respects and sign a Book of Condolence in honour of the late music promoter and custodian of one of Ireland's most iconic venues. Lord Henry, who died on Tuesday aged 74 after a long illness, was widely credited with transforming Slane Castle into a globally recognised live music destination. His son, Alex, the Marquess Conyngham, said in a statement that the family had been "profoundly moved" by the public response to his passing. "We have been truly touched by the strength of public sentiment and are deeply grateful for the countless expressions of sympathy and shared memories," he said. "Dad's warmth, spirit and dedication to Slane, its people and its legacy forged friendships that extended incredibly far and wide." The Book of Condolence will be available to sign on the grounds of Slane Castle this Saturday and Sunday, 21 and 22 June, between 10am and 6pm. "This will be an opportunity for all those who knew Henry, enjoyed the magic of Slane, or simply wish to express their sympathies to come together in his memory at the place he loved so deeply," the family said in a statement. They also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and requested privacy as they grieve. Tributes have continued to pour in for Lord Henry, who was instrumental in bringing some of the world's biggest acts to Ireland over the past four decades. Artists including U2, Queen, Madonna and The Rolling Stones have all played Slane Castle under his stewardship. Concert promoter Denis Desmond of MCD described him as a true "rock 'n' roll icon" and a "visionary with an enormous sense of fun and a tremendous work ethic". "Henry had an enormous impact on the acts who played at Slane," Desmond said. "World-class performers would talk about him long after the final note sounded. He wanted everyone to have a great time, stay safe, and come again." Desmond recalled Lord Henry's hands-on approach, often working through the night and staying closely connected to the live music industry even during his later years in hospital. "His laugh was infectious," he added. "He had a sense of humour that often shone brightest in darker moments. Truly, we will not see his likes again."

Madonna slammed for controversial behaviour during Broadway musical

A Broadway star has slammed Madonna for her behaviour in the audience while she attended a Hamilton performance a decade ago. The Hung Up singer, 66, has been criticised in a new interview by actor Anthony Ramos, 33, who starred in the original 2015 cast of Hamilton. Anthony played the dual role of John Laurens and Phillip Hamilton in the hit Broadway musical, created and written by Oscar nominee Lin-Manuel Miranda. In the play, Phillip, the titular character Alexander Hamilton's son, is tragically killed in a duel. It's one of the more emotional moments of the historical story. However, one audience member who was apparently unmoved during the show was the Queen of Pop herself, with Anthony calling her out in fresh comments. Speaking to Watch What Happens Live, the Broadway star revealed he was left feeling particularly unhappy by one aspect of the Hung Up hitmaker's behaviour. He was asked by the show's host Andy Cohen, 'Who was the most terrifying celebrity to spot in the audience during your Hamilton days?' and he didn't mince words. 'The most terrifying was Madonna with her iPad in her face. She was like this the whole time,' he replied, as he mimicked holding a tablet device in his hands. He continued: 'I was like, 'Damn, shorty. If you're not enjoying [the show] that much, you know the door's right there. You ain't gotta stay here.'' The tale drew awkward laughs from host Andy and a few members of the live studio audience, with Anthony's frank response catching a few people off guard. In 2015, Lin-Manuel himself tweeted: 'Tonight was the first time I asked stage management NOT to allow a celebrity (who was texting all through Act 2) backstage. No selfie for you.' Fans instantly began speculating as to who the celebrity could be, which resulted in Lin-Manuel taking the tweet down, and another tweet from someone in the audience only fuelled those fires further. Casey Erin Clark, a stage performer and singer, said: 'That time you want to smack Madonna upside the head for texting during the best show I've ever seen.' Jonathan Groff, 40, who played King George III, said he was not disappointed at all that Madonna had allegedly been disinvited from any backstage parties. 'That b***h was on her phone,' he said to Dot249. 'You couldn't miss it from the stage. It was a black void of the audience in front of us and her face there perfectly lit by the light of her iPhone.' More Trending Months after the incident, Jonathan insisted that the Die Another Day singer had been using her device 'through three quarters of the show'. At the time, Madonna's publicist stated to Us Weekly that the rumours about the Papa Don't Preach singer were not true: 'It's not true. She was invited backstage four different times. 'She texted post-show when they were doing their fundraising pitch. Madonna had already made a generous donation.' Metro has reached out to Madonna for comment. Got a story?
