RD Baheti Charitable Trust Jaipur District Open Badminton Championship: Quadruple for Padmaja Singh; Rakshit Singh Mehra, Garima Yadav win triple crown
Jaipur: Padmaja Singh claimed a quadruple while Rakshit Singh Mehra and Garima Yadav grabbed a triple crown each as the eight-day long RD Baheti Charitable Trust Jaipur District Open Badminton Championship concluded at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium here on Monday. On the last day, five finals were played out of which Rakshit emerged victorious in three. In the U-11 boys singles, Rakshit outclassed Naitik Bansal 21-9, 21-14. Stamping his authority in the higher age group too, nine-year-old Rakshit trounced Lakshyaraj Singh Nathawat 21-10, 21-10 in the U-13 boys singles. The pair of Rakshit and Lakshyaraj downed Anees Chahar and Pranav Mulchandani 21-12, 21-19 to clinch the U-13 boys doubles title. In the U-19 boys singles summit clash, Bhanu Pratap defeated Amber Chandravanshi 21-9, 21-17. However, Amber turned the tables on Bhanu Pratap in the U-19 boys doubles final. Jaipur: Promising shuttler Rashi Singhal grabbed the Under-11 girls singles crown as the Under-19 mixed doubles pair of Bhanu Pratap and Padmaja Singh triumphed in the RD Baheti Charitable Trust Jaipur District Open Badminton Championship at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium here on Saturday. On the sixth day of the eight-day long tournament, the finals of the two categories were played. Rashi Singhal ousted Abhika Meena 21-16, 21-8 in the U-11 girls singles final. In the U-19 mixed doubles summit clash, the duo of Bhanu Pratap and Padmaja Singh defeated the pair of Hrithik Verma and Reva Awasthi 21-11, 21-13 to win the title. Garima Yadav trounced Devanshi Lal 21-12, 21-7, while Nidhi prevailed over Yashasvi Sharma 21-8, 22-20 in the U-19 girls singles semi-finals. In the U-19 girls doubles, Navya Arora-Pratiksha downed Aishwarya and Kashika Jain 21-11, 21-7 and will lock horns with Advika Agarwal-Garima Yadav in the final on Sunday. Title-favourite Rakshit Singh Mehra, Lakshit Rewar, Naitik Bansal and Garvit Dahiya reached the U-11 boys singles semis. The four semifinalists of the U-19 boys singles are Bhanu Pratap, Ayush Yadav, Amber Chandravanshi and Bhavya Deep Singh Pawar. Dhairya Rajpal-Satwik Chaudhary, Amber Chandravanshi-Pranjal Kaushik, Bhanu Pratap-Vishal and Ansh-Vineet made it to the U-19 boys doubles semis. Jaipur: Jaywardhan Singh captured the all-important men's singles title, while Padmaja Singh claimed the U-17 girls singles crown in the RD Baheti Charitable Trust Jaipur District Open Badminton Championship at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium here on Thursday. Dominating from the start to finish, Jaywardhan outclassed Ambar Chandravanshi in two straight games 21-12, 21-12 in the men's singles final. The U-17 girls singles summit clash between Padmaja and Apeksha was an exciting affair that lasted for three games and 48 minutes. Padmaja bagged the opener 21-17 but lost the second game 12-21. However, she regrouped herself quickly to clinch the decider 21-14. In the U-15 mixed doubles, the pair of Shreyansh Chaudhary and Aradhya Dhingra won the final squeezing past the duo of Manan Sharma and Padmaja Singh 21-18, 12-21, 21-17. In the women's singles summit clash played in the morning session, there was a tough fight between Anvi Rathore and Utsava Pilot that lasted for about 55 minutes. Anvi staged a remarkable comeback to edge past Utsava 15-21, 21-15, 21-8 to clinch the crown. Similarly, the U-15 boys singles final also witnessed a gruelling three-game battle. Shreyansh Chaudhary lost the opening game but rallied back strongly to down Sunny Jangid 16-21, 21-11, 21-8. Jaywardhan Singh did not have to stretch much as he defeated Devashish Prajapati in straight games -- 21-14, 21-19 -- to pocket the U-17 boys crown. According to organizing secretary Atul Gupta, doubles matches of 15, 17 age group and senior were played today and the players reached the semi-finals after playing quarter finals. Tomorrow the semi-finals and finals of all doubles will be played. Apart from these, the men's singles, U-15 girls' singles and U-17 girls' singles finals will be played on Thursday. The session will start at 9 am. Under-11 and U-13 singles will also be played on Thursday.
