Woman poisons her kids, 5 & 1, to marry lover
Agra: A 25-year-old woman was arrested on Friday for allegedly poisoning her two children - aged 1 and 5 years -- to "remove them from the way " as they had become an obstacle for her to marry her lover. The incident happened in the Firozabad area. Police said the victims -- Arhaan and Anaya -- were alone at home with their mother, Muskan, when she mixed some poisonous substance into their tea and biscuits and fed it to them. The crime took place in Rurkali village on Thursday afternoon when the children's father, Waseem Ahmed, 33, who is a welder, was away in Chandigarh for work. Once the children collapsed, Muskan went to their neighbours claiming they had "fainted". However, her inconsistent and suspicious answers prompted the other residents to alert the local police. The children were taken to the nearest community health centre, where doctors declared them dead. SSP Sanjay Kumar Verma said there were no external injuries on the kids. "A post-mortem was conducted, and the report is awaited. The viscera have also been preserved for further analysis," the SSP added. Muskan, who had got married in 2018, was later taken for questioning, where she confessed to the crime. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo She told police the children had become a hurdle for her as she wanted to settle down with Junaid Ahmed, 25 -- her husband's cousin -- with whom she had been involved in an affair for over two years. The duo also planned to elope, police said, adding that Junaid procured the poison from a local drugstore. A case was subsequently registered under BNS sections 103 (murder) and 123 (causing hurt by poison) against the duo at Bhopa police station. Junaid is currently on the run. Police added that the woman's husband is a native of Rurkali, while Muskan hails from Kheri in Firozabad. It was Waseem's frequent absence due to work in Chandigarh which led Muskan and Junaid's relationship to flourish, a local resident pointed out.

72 from Haryana's Super-100 programme clear JEE advanced
As many as 72 out of 193 students enrolled in the Super-100 programme in Kurukshetra, run by the Haryana government in partnership with the NGO Vikalp, have qualified the JEE Advanced examination this year. The programme, aimed at supporting students from underprivileged backgrounds, recorded a success rate of 37%. Naveen Mishra, who heads the Kurukshetra centre, said the achievement reflects the transformative potential of the initiative. Sharing a particularly moving moment, he recalled how the father of Muskan, a student from Dinod village in Bhiwani, visited him to express gratitude. 'He told me they own just one acre of land and have five daughters. Affording even a basic private school was a struggle,' Mishra said. Muskan, who secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 1,383 in the EWS (economically weaker section) category, is now hopeful of a seat in an IIT. Another student, Sufta Parveen from Faridabad, earned AIR 1,630 in the EWS category. Speaking over the phone, she credited the programme's rigorous schedule and dedicated teachers for her success. 'We attended classes from 9 am to 7 pm, followed by self-study till midnight. I joined the programme after hearing about it from a friend and cracking the entrance test,' she said. 'My father works in a private factory and my mother is a homemaker. This journey would not have been possible without the support of Naveen sir and his team,' she added. Ravinder Jangra from Khatkar in Jind emerged as the programme's top performer, securing AIR 212 in the OBC category and overall AIR 1,267. Coming from a farming family with limited resources, he said the programme changed the course of his life. 'I had taken admission in Class 11 with Arts subjects. After qualifying for Super-100, I shifted to the non-medical stream. Without this opportunity, I would've had to continue with Arts and let go of my dream.' The Super-100 programme was launched in 2018 by Naveen Mishra, a native of Madhubani in Bihar and an IIT Delhi alumnus. Despite twice reaching the UPSC interview stage, Mishra chose to dedicate himself to educational upliftment. Since its inception, six batches of students from the programme have appeared for JEE Advanced, with many achieving remarkable success against difficult odds.

Meerut drum case: Ex-merchant navy officer's wife Muskan Rastogi plans to study law in jail
MEERUT: Muskan Rastogi, 28, the main accused in the murder of her husband, ex-merchant navy officer, has approached the jail administration in Meerut expressing her desire to pursue legal studies so that she can represent herself in court. Muskan, along with her lover Sahil Shukla, allegedly killed her husband Saurabh Rajput, 35, and the dismembered body was found inside a sealed, cement-filled blue drum at his house in Meerut's Brahmpuri locality on March 19. He was drugged and murdered on the night of March 4. Police arrested them after they returned from a trip to Himachal Pradesh. The two were lodged in the city's Chaudhary Charan Singh District Jail after their bail pleas were rejected by a court. The 28-year-old inmate claimed that she did not receive adequate support from her advocate and, hence, is willing to fight her own case, said a jail official. The official pointed out that she has not studied beyond Class 8 and doesn't have a senior secondary certificate - an essential prerequisite to pursue legal studies in India. The jail officials have now sought the process to pursue legal studies, and it was said that she must first pass her senior secondary before appearing in LLB. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esse novo alarme com câmera é quase gratuito em Catalão (consulte o preço) Alarmes Undo IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) offers a range of courses in the jail, they said. Now, Muskan has sought the process to study legal education and we are thinking about it. If she wants to study, jail authorities will provide all necessary resources to her." A detailed chargesheet of over 1,000 pages was filed by the police against the duo in court earlier this month. Muskan was later found pregnant during a routine medical examination.
