A wave of shocking husband murders — from a planned honeymoon killing in Meghalaya to a dismembered body found sealed in a cement drum in Meerut — has sparked a fierce debate online. The pattern across these cases is unsettling: wives, often aided by lovers or accomplices, allegedly plotted and executed the murders.Social media has erupted with anger and disbelief, with questions like 'Why marry if murder was the intent?' and comments like 'This is not the women empowerment we were looking for' trending across platforms.Indore tourist Raja Raghuvanshi , 29, had travelled to Meghalaya with his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi , 25, for their honeymoon. The couple was last seen together in the Sohra area of East Khasi Hills on May 23. Ten days later, Raja's body was found in a deep gorge near a waterfall, around 20 km from their homestay.Meghalaya DGP I Nongrang said Sonam had allegedly hired three men from Madhya Pradesh to kill her husband. The accused were tracked down using local eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage. Sonam surrendered at a police station in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, while the other three men were arrested in overnight raids across Indore and UP.On March 4, Saurabh Rajput, a 35-year-old man who had returned from London to surprise his wife, was murdered in Meerut by his wife Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla.According to police, Muskan spiked Saurabh's drink before stabbing him. Sahil then used a blade to sever his neck. Unable to dispose of the body, the duo left it in a bathroom overnight. The next day, they purchased 50 kg of cement and a large plastic drum. They dismembered the body, sealed it inside the drum with cement, and hid it.To cover up the crime, Muskan sent misleading texts to Saurabh's family from his phone, pretending he had gone to Shimla. They later left for Shimla themselves, only to return 12 days later. Muskan eventually confessed to her mother, who took her to the police. In Bihar's Begusarai district, 25-year-old Maheshwar Rai was allegedly killed by his wife, Rani, over arguments related to her social media activity. The incident took place at her family's home in Fafaut village. Maheshwar had reportedly objected to Rani's frequent dance videos and Instagram reels. On the night of the murder, Maheshwar was strangled and hanged. Rani has been detained, while her relatives are on the run.Maheshwar's father claimed that the family grew suspicious when someone else answered his son's phone. He also alleged that locals attempted to move the body before police arrived. In Haryana's Bhiwani district, Ravina, a YouTuber from Rewari, was arrested for allegedly killing her husband Praveen with the help of her lover, Suresh. The couple had been married since 2017 and often fought over Ravina's social media content. Police said Praveen caught Ravina and Suresh in a compromising position on March 25, leading to a confrontation. That night, he was allegedly strangled.Ravina and Suresh then transported the body on a motorcycle and dumped it in a drain outside the city. Suresh remains absconding. The nature and frequency of these cases have triggered nationwide concern. Many are calling for a deeper investigation into not just the crimes but the psychological, social, and legal factors driving such extreme actions. In the Meghalaya case, Sonam's father has openly challenged the police's version and is seeking intervention from the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and the Union Home Minister. In Meerut and Begusarai, grieving families are demanding maximum punishment for the accused. Many are questioning the societal narrative around marriage, relationships, and empowerment. "This isn't about gender," one post read, "it's about betrayal, crime, and trust gone horribly wrong."With police investigations underway and trials pending, these cases remain a chilling reminder of how trust can turn into tragedy—and how social media has become both a witness and a courtroom.

Sex harassment FIR lodged against sports head, HC told

Mumbai: The state on Friday informed Bombay high court that Kherwadi police station, Bandra East, registered an FIR against the president of a sports body on a complaint of sexual harassment by a woman athlete. The FIR followed Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Neela Gokhale's direction on Wednesday to the police-in-charge to record her statement and "take appropriate action in accordance with the law, including registration of FIR, against Mr... and others found involved, if a cognisable offence is made out against them". The state's advocate, Vishal Thadani, informed that an FIR was registered on Thursday. The HC was hearing a petition by Mixed Martial Arts India to direct the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to grant it recognition. Since the IOA granted recognition to the Mixed Martial Arts Sports Federation of India, the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association recognised only it. In these circumstances, the petitioner's athletes are unable to participate in the first Asian Youth Championship in Bahrain between June 25 and 28. The rival federation submitted documents, including screenshots of Instagram texts between the petitioner's president and an athlete. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo "A plain reading of the messages demonstrates sexual overtures being made by Mr... to the said woman athlete," the judges noted. They noticed a woman crying in court. Federation advocate Adil Parsurampuria said she was "the athlete concerned". The judges said "she had a story to tell. The woman athlete informed us she was being sexually harassed and suffered great anguish at the hands of Mr... She was compelled to reply to his Instagram and WhatsApp messages, and if she refused, she was threatened she would not be permitted to participate in any sport..." The woman complained to various authorities with proof of harassment, "but her every attempt was thwarted, and she was left to run from pillar to post for redressal of her grievance". The judges were "shocked" to hear her statements, adding it is "extremely unfortunate" that neither the petitioner, federation or IOA stood by the woman nor have taken steps "to provide succour to her". The petitioner's advocate, Abhishek Upadhyay, said the president shall "step down from his position". "We accept the said statement as an undertaking given to this court," the judges said. To the judge's query, advocates Sanjeev Sawant and Heramb Kadam informed that IOA has a POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) committee in place, and if a complaint is received, it would take action. Parsurampuria said in national interest, the federation shall select 5 athletes of the petitioner to participate in the championship. On Friday, judges refused to expunge observations against the president.

Girl and her friend beat up and drug ex-boyfriend before throwing him into canal in Ludhiana.

Ludhiana: A young man was allegedly thrashed, drugged, and thrown into a canal by his ex-girlfriend and her current partner, prompting a police investigation in this district and a search for the suspects. The 20-year-old complainant, Harkirat Singh of Tungaheri village, told police that he was lured into meeting his former girlfriend, Jasleen Kaur of Siloani village, on June 18 after she messaged him on Instagram. Upon arriving in the Jodhan area, Harkirat Singh entered a parked car where Jasleen was waiting. She allegedly took his mobile phone under a pretext and engaged him in conversation. Soon after, their former schoolmate — reported to be Balkaran Singh of Jattpura village — arrived. Harkirat Singh claims Jasleen revealed to him she had been in a relationship with Balkaran for nine months. He alleges that the pair then assaulted him, attempted to strangle him with Jasleen's dupatta, and injected an unknown substance into his abdomen before dumping him in the nearby Siloani canal. Harkirat Singh said a passing member of the village panchayat had rescued him and admitted him to a local medical facility at Pakhowal, from where he was referred to a hospital in Ludhiana. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo He, later, filed a police complaint. Three booked for 67L visa fraud in Mota Varachha

Surat: Utran police have booked three persons for allegedly duping at least seven people of Rs 67 lakh under the pretext of securing foreign work and student visas. The accused — Nikunj Dudhat, Chirag Vataliya, and Ankit Vasani — were operating a consultancy firm named Gravitate Overseas Immigration from Mota Varachha. The complaint was filed by Darshit Patel, a bank employee who alleged that the trio promised him a Canadian work permit visa for Rs 25 lakh. Patel came across the firm's Instagram page in July 2023 and visited their office, where he was persuaded to pay Rs 5 lakh as an advance. He received no official receipt, only a WhatsApp message confirming the payment. When no visa materialised, Patel was allegedly offered a New Zealand visa instead for Rs 18 lakh, for which he paid another Rs 5 lakh. After repeated delays and no results, Patel suspected fraud and returned to the office, where he encountered other victims with similar complaints. According to police, the accused cheated multiple clients with false promises and collected large sums of money without delivering any visa services. Other victims include Pinkesh Patel (Rs 11 lakh), Maulik Virani (Rs 10 lakh), Chirag Paladiya (Rs 5 lakh), Darshit Vachhani (Rs 13 lakh), Jaydeep Barochiya (Rs 9 lakh), and Akshay Patel (Rs 9.50 lakh). Further investigation is underway.
