Indiramma housing scheme to cover 20 lakh families: Telangana housing minister

HYDERABAD : Housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Friday announced that three more phases of the Indiramma housing scheme will be rolled out to benefit 20 lakh poor families over the next three-and-a-half years. Speaking at a programme in Peddapalli district, he said that in the first phase, 4.5 lakh houses have already been sanctioned, with 3,500 units allocated per assembly constituency. Additionally, 10,000 Chenchu families and beneficiaries in ITDA areas have been granted homes over and above the standard quota. Reaffirming the Congress govt's commitment, the minister assured that all 20 lakh houses will not only be sanctioned but also constructed within the current term—unlike the previous BRS govt, which promised 2-BHK units but failed to deliver. Listing the welfare measures of the govt, Ponguleti said the Congress is also continuing beneficial schemes introduced by the previous regime. He urged people to support Congress in the upcoming local body polls, as they did in the 2023 assembly elections. Highlighting reforms, he said, "We scrapped the Dharani portal and brought in the Bhu Bharati Act, enabling revenue officials to resolve land issues directly in villages."

Andhra Pradesh's Palnadu tribal areas to get major facelift

GUNTUR: A quiet transformation is unfolding in the tribal regions of Palnadu district, as 51 Chenchu tribal habitations are being developed under two major Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs initiatives: Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) and Dharti Abhiyan—Janjatiya Grama Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA). In Veldurthi, Macherla, Durgi, Karampudi, Bollapalli, and Rentachintala mandals, the district administration is charting plans to upgrade necessary infrastructure, including housing, roads, clean water supply, electricity, healthcare, Anganwadi centres and facilitating LPG connections to households under the PM-JANMAN scheme. The initiative spans 11 sectors and involves coordination among nine departments. In the second phase, 31 additional tribal habitations outside PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group) areas will be covered as well. Parallelly, as many as 17 tribal habitations in Macherla, Durgi, Dachepalli, Achampet, and Bollapalli will gain access to 25 welfare schemes being implemented by 17 departments, under the DA-JGUA scheme. Emphasising a people-first approach, Palnadu District Collector Arun Babu informed that a special outreach drive from June 15 to 30 will allow residents to voice their concerns and access services. Families have been asked to bring Aadhaar cards, bank and employment documents, health and gas cards, utility bills, forest land records and housing documents to the camps. 'These efforts are about restoring dignity, trust, and hope,' the Collector affirmed.

Indiramma housing scheme delayed in Sircilla: Ponguleti

Hyderabad: State Housing and Information and Public Relations Minister P Srinivasa Reddy said that the implementation of the Indiramma housing scheme was delayed in Sircilla Assembly Constituency as the BRS leader and local MLA KT Rama Rao has not submitted a list of beneficiaries to the officials. The government has brought a new norm giving opposition MLAs to select 40 per cent of the beneficiaries of Indiramma houses and forward the list to the Housing department. The Minister said that KTR defied the orders and as a result, the official process in the selection of the beneficiaries did not take place. After coming to know, the local authorities have been asked to select the names and finalise them immediately. Stating that 2.10 lakh beneficiaries have been identified across the State till the date, Srinivasa Reddy also took strong exception to the KTR's repeated comments against him saying that ED raided his houses with currency counting machines. He said that no raid was conducted by the central agency in his house. Srinivasa Reddy said that all the beneficiaries list will be finalised by June 10. Under the pilot project, he said that 42,000 houses were sanctioned and the construction of 20,000 houses was already started. 100 houses are ready for house warming this month. In the ITDA (Integrated Tribal Development Authority) limits, the government sanctioned 9,200 houses for Chenchu tribes. Four storey buildings will be constructed in Hyderabad, Warangal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda municipal corporations in view of lack of availability of government land to build independent houses for the beneficiaries.

Indiramma houses: Telangana finalises beneficiaries, begins construction

Hyderabad: Telangana housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the state govt has finalised the list of 2.10 lakh beneficiaries for sanctioning the Indiramma houses, and construction of 24,000 houses had already begun. He mentioned that about 100 houses were in the final stages of construction and were ready for inauguration. During an informal chat with media personnel on Friday, the minister stated that the state govt was giving priority to the opposition party MLAs' assembly constituencies as well, and the MLAs were asked to provide the list of beneficiaries. "Of the total houses allotted, 40% will be allocated based on the recommendations of the respective MLAs, and the rest will be selected by the Indiramma committees," the minister said. He added that the govt also asked Sircilla MLA and ex-minister KTR to provide the list of beneficiaries, but he did not want to give any recommendation. Srinivas Reddy mentioned that of the total houses, about 9,200 would be given to Chenchu tribals in the agency areas, adding that chief minister A Revanth Reddy wanted more allocations to these areas. The housing minister said the state govt was considering constructing multi-storey buildings (G+4) for slum dwellers in the identified 16 locations in Hyderabad and other major towns like Warangal, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar, and Nizamabad. He also stated that the govt would soon constitute a price fixation committee for Indiramma houses.
