Russell Wilson reportedly joining Giants on 1-year, $21 million deal

Russell Wilson has reached an agreement to join the New York Giants, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The deal for the 36-year-old quarterback is reportedly for one year and up to $21 million, with $10.5 million guaranteed.

Wilson played with the Steelers on a one-year, $1.21 million contract in 2024 while still owed $37.79 million from the Denver Broncos. He said after the season that he wants to play 'as long as possible,' reiterating a statement he made in November that he wants to play 5-7 more years.

Wilson joined the Steelers in the offseason after being released by the Broncos, but started on the bench in favor of Fields after a calf injury sidelined him in the preseason. He took over at quarterback in Week 7 and remained the Steelers' starter through the remaining 11 games of the regular season and a 28-14 wild-card playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Pittsburgh won its first four games with Wilson at quarterback before a 2-5 finish to the regular season that included a four-game season-ending losing streak. Wilson completed 63.7% of his passes for 225.6 yards per game with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in his 11 regular-season starts. He completed 20 of 29 passes for 270 yards with two touchdowns and no turnovers during the playoff loss to the Ravens.
Wilson's play improved from the worst of his disastrous stint with the Broncos that resulted in Denver releasing him in spite of a significant hit to the salary cap. He was good enough to keep Pittsburgh competitive as a playoff team, but there was little to indicate he could return to his Pro Bowl form from his Seattle Seahawks tenure and lift the Steelers into Super Bowl contention.

Miami wide receiver Tyreek Hill had a lot to say over the weekend from Fanatics Fest in New York City. Hill made his thoughts known on how the Buffalo Bills have defended him over the years. But, the 31-year-old receiver also started his public campaign to lure star cornerback Jalen Ramsey back to South Florida. "Oh, I'm going to hang out with Ramsey next week, man. So, I'm going to get him back. Full court press. I'm getting Ramsey back in a Dolphins jersey. I don't care what they said. Tampering, whatever. "We need Ramsey. He's a dog. He's one of the best corners in the league, man. Great leader. A great teammate, too. That's what he doesn't get a lot of credit for. We just need him on the Dolphins, man," Hill said. Ramsey has been at the center of trade talks dating back to April when Miami general manager Chris Grier said a Ramsey deal was "in the best interest" of all parties. As the Dolphins have worked to orchestrate a trade, Ramsey was an excused absence during Miami's recent mandatory minicamp. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter said at the end of last week on "The Pat McAfee Show" that he still believes a Ramsey deal will get done before training camp. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler followed up on the Saturday morning edition of "SportsCenter" and reported that the Dolphins remain optimistic about finding a trade partner. If it's truly irreparable, then Miami will have to move Ramsey. But, is there still a scenario where Hill and others can get in the ear of Ramsey and sell him on the idea of remaining in South Florida? Of course, that would be contingent upon the front office pivoting from its stance that it needs to deal Ramsey. Though it still seems unlikely that Ramsey is a part of the Dolphins' future or on the roster come training camp, it's tough to argue against the idea that keeping Ramsey doesn't make Miami a better football team. Ramsey is a seven-time Pro Bowler, a three-time first-team All-Pro and a Super Bowl champion. If there's a pathway to keeping a corner around that's notched 108 passes defensed and 24 interceptions over the course of his career, then Miami would be silly to not explore it.

Two moves have really defined the Atlanta Falcons over the last two decades. The first move was selecting Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan with the third overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft. Three years later, the Falcons traded up to the sixth overall slot in the 2011 draft to select Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones. Ryan and Jones formed one of the most dynamic duos in NFL history. Both players retired as Atlanta's franchise statistical leaders at their respective positions. Jones is a lock for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, while Ryan has a decent chance to be voted into the league' s most exclusive club. In Pro Football Focus' 2011 NFL redraft, the seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver didn't even make it out of the top five. So instead of adding the most productive receiver in franchise history, the Falcons stayed at pick No. 27 and drafted cornerback Jimmy Smith. Smith's size and man-to-man ability were valuable assets during his 11-year career in Baltimore. He recorded an 81.5 PFF coverage grade and hauled in 14 regular-season interceptions and one postseason pick across that span. Smith also played very well on a small workload in Super Bowl 47, forcing two incompletions and earning a 92.7 PFF coverage grade. -- PFF's Max Chadwick, Dalton Wasserman and Trevor Sikkema Smith spent his entire career in Baltimore, and despite not making a Pro Bowl, he was a dependable starter that helped the Ravens secure the Super Bowl in 2013. The former Colorado defensive back appeared in 128 games (90 starts), recording 14 interceptions and 74 passes defended. The 2011 redraft saw Jones selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the fourth overall pick. The Bengals originally took wide receiver A.J. Green at this spot, but PFF felt Jones was the better players throughout his NFL career. There was a big debate heading into the 2011 NFL Draft over whether A.J. Green or Julio Jones was the top wide receiver prospect. The Bengals ultimately picked Green, who went on to have an excellent career in Cincinnati. However, Jones ended up being the better player. The two-time first-team All-Pro recorded a career 94.7 PFF overall grade and was the second-most-valuable receiver across his 13 seasons, according to PFF WAR. -- PFF's Max Chadwick, Dalton Wasserman and Trevor Sikkema The Falcons still landed a quality player in PFF's redraft scenario, however, it's hard to imagine Ryan ever reaching his MVP potential without Jones as his top weapon.
