Rashford eyes Barcelona move? Praises Lamine Yamal, expresses desire to play alongside Barca teen sensation
English footballer Marcus Rashford, who is training in Spain ahead of pre-season, has praised Spanish and Barcelona teenage star Lamine Yamal and said he wished to play alongside the Catalan star.
When asked if he wanted to play with Yamal one day, he told Spanish influencer Javi Ruiz on YouTube channel XBuyer in Marbella, 'Yes, for sure, Everyone wants to play with the best. Hopefully… we'll see.'
'It's difficult to put into words what he's doing because he's not supposed to be doing that at 16 or 17. I don't think we've seen that before,' added Rashford.
Last month, Barcelona sporting director Deco stated that the Catalans 'like' Rashford, as well as Liverpool winger Luis Diaz. They're also thought to be interested in Athletic Club winger Nico Williams.
The England international, Rashford, on Yamal's Ballon d'Or chances, he added: 'If you look at it just off football ability, he has to win.'
The Englishman's future at Manchester United remains unclear even after his contract is valid for three more years. According to Sky Sports, Manchester United had not received any offers for Rashford, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.
Rashford's decision to join Villa on a loan deal until the end of the season is paying off after being frozen out by United, with the striker returning to the England squad and starting the recent World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim had said that he let star forward Marcus Rashford leave the club for Aston Villa because the forward couldn't follow his methods.
Rashford is one of a few players linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, as head coach Ruben Amorim seeks to reshape his squad following the club's lowest Premier League finish last season. Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans, and Victor Lindelof have all been released, and Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho are also expected to be available.

Leeds, June 22 (UNI) Harry Brook's enterprising 99 and key contributions from England's lower order wiped out India's hard-earned advantage on the third day of the first Test at Headingley, despite a five-wicket haul by Jasprit Bumrah. Archer could return for the second Test against India: report
Injury-prone pacer Jofra Archer could be in the England mix for the second Test against India beginning July 2, as he is set for a red-ball comeback with Sussex at Durham in the County Championship, according to a report. The England pace bowling attack without the likes of Archer and Mark Wood has looked tepid in the opening Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar series with India, led by new skipper Shubman Gill, scoring 471 runs in the first innings at Leeds. 'Jofra Archer will return to red-ball cricket with Sussex — despite not being named in the squad for the County Championship match at Durham. If he comes through the match unscathed, he could be in the mix to play in the second Test against India at Edgbaston,' said a report in Sky Sports. It said the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that the pacer will be in Sussex's travelling group for the four-day fixture beginning later on Sunday (June 22, 2025). Archer, who played for Rajasthan Royals in the 2025 IPL season, has not been a part of first-class cricket in four years due to injuries. The 30-year-old quick was initially not in the 12-player travelling squad for the County Championship match, raising doubts about his fitness but the ECB and Sussex later said the Barbadian-English cricketer will be travelling for the match at Chester-le-Street. If Archer is part of the playing XI and his body holds up in the red-ball fixture, he could be in contention for the second Test at Edgbaston from July 2 or the third at Lord's from July 10. Archer has only played white-ball cricket for England since 2021 because of recurring elbow and back injuries. He was initially due to make a red-ball comeback for the England Lions against India A but a thumb injury, suffered during the IPL, did not heal in time. England skipper Ben Stokes had said earlier this month that Archer, who has 42 wickets in 13 Tests, was keen to return to Test cricket. 'Randomly, a couple of times he would just send me a text... I was like, 'Let's just hold it there, alright. I know you're in a good spot right now but let's not just rush into it'. 'He's obviously had a horrific time with injuries but he's had some good amount of cricket, albeit in the white-ball formats,' Stokes had said. 'It's really exciting for England, but also more exciting for Jof (Archer) that he's in a position now where we're able to have a plan in place, and hopefully him get through something to actually be considered for selection for Test cricket.'

Santi Cazorla, still playing at 40 on minimum wage after 11 surgeries to fix Achilles injury, leads boyhood club Real Oviedo back to La Liga
There was a whiff of romance in the air as Real Oviedo secured their spot in next season's La Liga thanks to Spanish football great Santi Cazorla. Cazorla scored one of Real Oviedo's three goals against Mirandes in a 3-1 extra-time victory in the second leg of the promotion playoffs for La Liga after the team had lost the first leg 1-0. Real Oviedo will be back in La Liga after 24 years, a phase which has seen them experience many lows. Cazorla had also scored a free-kick with his weaker foot in the semi-final victory over Almeria on June 11. 'At 40 years old I think this is the greatest thing I've ever experienced,' Cazorla said. 'I've been lucky enough to experience great things with Spain and with the clubs that I've been with, winning many trophies, but nothing compares to this.' Cazorla, who has won two European championships with Spain, is now 40 years of age and is playing on minimum wage allowed under La Liga rules (€90,000 a year) — after turning down a eyewatering pay cheque — at the club whose academy ranks created him. 'Thankfully, I've had a successful career, so the last thing I wanted was to be a weight on my club,' Cazorla was quoted as saying by The Athletic. 'I'm delighted with these conditions — I'd play for free, but the regulations must be respected. Returning here to Oviedo, where I dreamed of playing as a kid, was in my mind for a long time. Now I'm back, trying to help where I can.' Cazorla's presence on the pitch is miraculous in itself: the former Arsenal playmaker had suffered an Achilles injury in October 2016 which needed him to undergo 11 operations to finally fix the problem. At one stage, one botched procedure led to gangrene and doctors had informed Cazorla that he should forget playing football and should be happy to just be able to walk again. He was away from the sport for 636 days in the middle. Cazorla played for Real Oviedo's youth academy. But before he could play for its first team, he had to leave in 2003 because of the club's financial troubles. He played clubs like Villarreal, Malaga, Arsenal, Al-Sadd in Qatar, before making an emotional comeback to Oviedo in 2023. Real Oviedo had been in the second division since 2015-16, and spent a few seasons in the third tier before that. The club faced dire financial crisis in 2012. That's when a fundraising campaign raised the €2million to save it. Cazorla and former Oviedo youth team player Juan Mata were among those to contribute. (With inputs from AP)
