'Gang of Spanish thieves raided my hotel room and here's how I fought back'
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A mother-of-two whose hotel room was burgled while on holiday in Spain has shared how she flew into a rage when she caught the thieves red-handed – and sent them fleeing with a barrage of English expletives. Becca Farley was holidaying at the Magic Tropical Splash resort in Benidorm with her partner and two children, aged six and 11, when she discovered intruders in their room. The family, from Eastleigh, England, had forked out £2,500 for their week-long stay. On their final night, with notices around the hotel alerting guests to an impending power cut, Becca returned to the room to charge their mobiles ahead of their journey home. "As I got in the lift these two teenagers got in the lift with me and just pressed my floor level," she recounted "I honestly didn't think anything of it because there's five rooms per floor so I just assumed they were going to one of them." The teens exited the lift before her and walked directly into her room, the door of which had been propped open by a shoe. Becca added: "I thought, 'Oh s**t, I have obviously got off on the wrong floor. What a palaver. I'm going to have to wait for the lift again'. But it was the right floor. "It happened all quite quickly and they just strolled straight into my room. I then followed in after them, which in hindsight, I shouldn't have because you hear horror stories and I think it could have gone sour. But I just didn't really think and went straight into the room and shouted 'What are you doing in my room?'" One of the intruders began yelling at her in Spanish, prompting Becca to yell back: "Get the f**k out! Get the f**k out! Get the f**k out!" until they left. They came back shortly after and pounded on the door while she remained locked inside. "I was absolutely petrified," she admitted. "I know it sounds silly and people have said you should have done this, you should have locked them in the room, you should have decked them but at that moment I think it was just that invasion of privacy. "This is supposed to be your safe place when you are away, you're away from home, we don't travel all that often so we were really shaken. Then that night I did not sleep because I was flinching at every noise. If it had happened earlier on in the week we would have flown home." After informing hotel security about the incident, Becca learnt another family had suffered a similar intrusion and had passports, watches and other valuables stolen, reports the Liverpool Echo. (Image: Becca Farley/SWNS) Becca is now alerting other holidaymakers planning trips to Spain with some advice: "I would advise just to be alert. A lot of people have said we were scaremongering people not to go away. Not at all. "We will certainly go on holiday again. It's not a case of us never going abroad again, but I think it's just having that awareness that if you are a lone woman, please be careful. "I'm very lucky that I'm OK, but I think it's just a case of having your wits about you a bit more. When you go on holiday you tend to relax and become a little bit naive to these situations." She also advised securing valuables in suitcases with padlocks, saying: "Obviously keep your valuables safe. I know some people say 'Don't use the safes'. We personally lock all of ours and padlock them in our suitcases. "I think it's just a case of having your wits about you and knowing not to get comfortable in somewhere you've never been before." (Image: Becca Farley/SWNS) Despite her intention to continue travelling, Becca stated that she'll now take additional precautions. She said: "I'm considering getting a webcam that you can put in your room next time we go away. I will carry on locking my stuff away. I would never take the kids away on my own. "I certainly wouldn't have cleaners in my room ever again, not to say it definitely was them but they have access to your room. I don't know if I would feel comfortable going up to a room on my own again." Magic Tropical Splash Hotel has been contacted for comment.

UK aqua park that looks like Mediterranean resort adds thrilling feature
The high-speed La Jefa is described as a 'towering centrepiece' for families to 'slip, slide and splash' across the water at the aqua par An aqua park known for its gleaming turquoise lake, is upping the ante with its latest addition described as the "ultimate summer slide experience". The new high-speed attraction, La Jefa, stands as a monumental feature at St Andrews Lakes in Halling, beckoning families to "slip, slide and splash" in the sun. St Andrews boasts a pristine 70-acre lake filled with spring water and is continuously expanding with various floating play areas, slides, jump points and splash zones, in scenes that wouldn't be out of place on the Med. La Jefa, translating to 'the female boss' in Spanish, is the latest thrilling complement to the park's highly popular 20ft slide, El Jefe – 'the male boss'. St Andrews Lakes' operations director Stuart Bishop said: "La Jefa is the perfect next step for our Aqua Park. Guests already loved El Jefe, but we wanted to bring something new, something a bit different and something just as fun. We can't wait to see families and friends tackle it this summer," In addition to the aquatic thrills, the attraction close to Rochester also features a private sandy beach area, paddleboarding, kayaking, zip wiring, and axe throwing activities, reports Kent Live. Not to mention wall climbing, archery, sailing courses, paddleboard classes and children's activity days throughout the school holidays. The old quarry has been turned into a stunning blue lake reserve, offering fun for everyone on water and land. And if you want to relax, the wellness space boasts wood-fired lakeside saunas, steaming hot tubs and even a cold plunge lagoon, not to mention a chill-out zone with snug chairs and a fireside to cosy up to. Aqua park tickets are £25 person for a 50-minute session and family deals and concessions are available. Your ticket covers buoyancy aids, vigilant lifeguards and an essential safety rundown before making waves. Information on bookings, activities needing inductions and session timings is available on the website. There are also all-day charges for the beach. Nestled in Halling, a quaint village perched in the Medway area snug between Cuxton and Snodland and within a stone's throw from Rochester, St Andrews Lakes is where you'll find the paradise pit. The lake gets its clear blue hue from the suspended chalk particles that reflect the light. St Andrew's says the lake's waters gush from a spring, making them "incredibly clean".

EastEnders legend reveals emotional reaction to Zoe Slater's return
EastEnders favourite Jessie Wallace has revealed she cried upon learning that Michelle Ryan would be returning to the BBC soap. It's been a busy old week in Walford, with Zoe Slater making a grand return after 20 years away. It's something which Jessie has called for quite some time, and yet the two actresses didn't share any screen time in the last few episodes. Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) had reached out to Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) to tell him that a wayward Zoe had moved in with her, and was overspending on her credit card. Zoe fabricated texts from Spanish loansharks, implying that they were trying to hunt her down and hurt her. Just as Stace' and Alfie grappled with her lies, Kat burst into the flat and her estranged daughter hid in the bedroom. To evade being caught, she climbed out of the window and fled the area for Barcelona – with Alfie following, telling his wife that he was going to Australia to care for younger brother Spencer (Christopher Parker). The huge week has been covered in a feature-length behind the scenes video – which can be viewed on the EastEnders YouTube channel now – and shows Michelle heading back to Elstree Studios for her first day of filming. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video We see her in her dressing room, which has been marked 'Sienna' to keep her identity a secret, and chatting with new executive producer Ben Wadey about his vision. She also sits down with Jessie, who is clearly elated to be with her co-star. 'So, Michelle is back after 20 years' she begins. 'I've missed her tremendously, I've missed her, working with her, the whole Kat and Zoe thing, you know, going back to, 'You ain't my mother,' 'Yes I am'. 'And when I found out Michelle was coming back, I cried. And then when we met up, I cried because I've missed you.' Jessie then states that it felt like being reunited with a child, and it's obvious that theres a lot of love in the Slater clan, who first appeared in 2000. 'Michelle's gone off and done great things, and I've gone off and done other things, but I always come back because I love it here,' she continued. 'I feel like it's my home. And now Michelle's back it's like having my daughter back again.' Wednesday's instalment marked the last time we'll see Zoe – for now. Alfie has headed to Barcelona, hoping to track her movements using the credit card payments. In his departure scenes, he promised an oblivious Kat that he'd bring her the 'best present ever' home from 'Australia'. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Ruben Amorim to brutally 'axe four Manchester United stars' from pre-season tour
Manchester United could be set to bid farewell to some huge players this summer with Ruben Amorim seemingly nudging some towards the Old Trafford exit door before the Red Devils return Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are among four misfits set to be axed from Manchester United 's pre-season tour. The Red Devils are set to travel to the US in July for a clutch of lucrative matches as part of their preparations for the new campaign. They will take on Premier League rivals West Ham United, Bournemouth and Everton as part of that tour. But Ruben Amorim is set to take a brutal approach to his squad with many stars expected to leave Old Trafford this summer. According to The Sun, four out-of-favour stars are set to be left behind at Carrington for the tour should they fail to seal moves away from United before then. That includes academy graduate Rashford after Aston Villa turned down the chance to sign him permanently following his loan spell. The forward has since been linked with Barcelona. He is set to be joined by Jadon Sancho after he too saw a permanent move to Chelsea collapse following a loan spell last season. Napoli have since emerged for his services but are struggling to afford his wages as it stands. Alejandro Garnacho also faces little prospect of a future at United - the Argentine having also been linked with Napoli. The final player that Amorim wants to leave behind is Antony. The Brazilian winger has struggled since his big-money move from Ajax and while he impressed with Real Betis last term, the Spanish side are yet to make a renewed move. Explaining Amorim's hardline stance, a source quoted by The Sun said: 'Amorim is stamping his authority on the club. It was hard arriving mid-season but he now has the opportunity to shape the team in his image. And he's wasting no time. 'He only wants players who would die for the shirt and are on board with his ideas. He also wants a smaller squad to create an intimate team bond so that everyone gets enough game time to be at peak fitness when called upon. He doesn't want any bad apples or distractions.' Who else should Man United sign this summer? Share your thoughts in the comments below While Amorim is set to axe a few faces from his squad for United's pre-season commitments, there could also be a few new additions to the squad. Matheus Cunha is due to join up with the Red Devils following his £62.5m move from Wolves. He could yet be joined by Bryan Mbeumo, who remains at the heart of a tug of war between United and Tottenham. As it stands, he favours a move to Old Trafford but United chiefs are yet to agree terms with the Bees over the Cameroon forward.
