Anderson stars but Northants stay unbeaten in Blast
London, June 9 (UNI) James Anderson delivered a second three-wicket haul of his T20 Blast return for Lancashire but it was not enough to stop Northants Steelbacks making it five wins from five to tighten their grip on the top of North Group.
The veteran seamer's 3-31 at a blustery Old Trafford backed up his 3-17 against Durham at Chester-le-Street.
But the 42-year-old's sterling efforts could not prevent the Steelbacks totalling 180-6 before restricting Lancashire to 156-9 in reply.
Liam Livingstone's return to Lightning colours following his Indian Premier League (IPL) victory with Royal Challengers Bangalore saw him take 2-35 and add 18 with the bat as Northants always had the game under their control.
George Scrimshaw was the pick of their bowlers with an impressive 4-19.

A Record Nobody Wants With this dismissal, Sudharsan now finds himself alongside Gulabrai Ramchand (1952) and Datta Gaekwad (1952), the only other two Indian players to have been dismissed for a duck on Test debut at Headingley, Leeds. Gulabrai Ramchand made a duck in the second Test of the 1952 tour of England. Datta Gaekwad, too, suffered the same fate in the same match, underlining the testing conditions of Headingley for new Indian batters. Now, in 2025, Sai Sudharsan becomes the first since 1952 to replicate that misfortune. From IPL Success to Test Challenge Sai Sudharsan has been a rising star in Indian cricket, making waves in the IPL and domestic cricket with a composed batting style. Ishwar Pandey believes Jasprit Bumrah can play all five Tests in England
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 21 (ANI): Former Indian cricketer and Rewa Jaguars head coach Ishwar Pandey believes that right-arm seamer Jasprit Bumrah will play all five Test matches of the series against England in the ongoing tour. During the announcement of India's squad for the upcoming Test tour of England, chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed Bumrah was advised not to contest in consecutive Tests as part of his workload management. The precaution around Bumrah's usage stems from a stress reaction in the back during the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney in January. Speaking to ANI about Bumrah, Ishwar Pandey said, "He has said that. But how his body reacts in the game. There are 5 test matches. There will be more workload. But I think he will play all the test matches. He has said that. But I think he will play all the test matches." Earlier on June 17, Bumrah said that before Rohit and Virat retired, he discussed his workload with the BCCI, considering his physical condition and the demands of a five-Test series. He consulted with his support team and surgeon, leading to a decision to manage his workload more strategically. "Before Rohit and Virat retired, during the IPL, I had spoken to the BCCI. I had discussed my workloads going forward in a five-Test match series. I've spoken to the people who have managed my back, I've spoken to the surgeon as well, who's always spoken to me about how smart you have to be about the workloads. So I did speak to him and then we concluded that I have to be a little smarter," the fast bowler said while speaking on Sky Sports Cricket. "But yeah, captaincy meant a lot. I had worked very hard for it. But unfortunately, sometimes you have to look after the bigger picture. I love cricket more than captaincy. So I want to contribute more as a cricketer and to the Indian team as a player. Ambitions are there, but that's how it is, but I called the BCCI and said I don't want to be looked at in a leadership role," the 31-year-old player added. Bumrah is currently participating in the ongoing Leeds Test at Headingley, which will take place from June 20 to 24. In his previous assignments in England, Bumrah boasted 37 scalps in nine appearances at 26.27 while maintaining an economy of 2.72 and striking at 57.8. (ANI)

Into his 90s, cramps in his arms could have affected the left-hander but he showed resolve to battle through the difficult phase. The celebration — a mixture of joy and relief — showed how much it meant for the young man. Jaiswal was finally dismissed by a Ben Stokes beauty that left the left-hander after pitching, but the 129-run partnership had allowed India to go into cruise mode by then. With the pitch completely easing out and the ball getting older, Gill and Rishabh Pant (65 batting), walking in at No. 5, didn't have much difficulty in piling on England's woes. Gill completed his ton with an off-drive and with the bowlers tiring, it was his turn to put his white-ball cap on.
