Five-star recruit sends clear message to Deion Sanders after Colorado visit

Yahoo17-05-2025

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are in the running for one of the top players in the 2026 recruiting class.
Five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan visited Colorado last weekend and was in awe of the atmosphere in Boulder. He recapped the weekend with Coach Prime and his staff, telling On3's Steve Wiltfong the Buffs have a "Great shot" to land him.

"Talking to Cederian Morgan after his visit on Sunday, he said 'They got a great shot. This is my first time being there. I really enjoyed it,'" Wilting said. 'He had a great time at Colorado this weekend.'
At 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, the Alexander City (Alabama) product would be one of the highest-ranked receivers in CU history. Morgan is ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver in the class of 2026, according to 247Sports. He's also a tri-sport athlete with football, track, and basketball as part of his background.
Morgan finished junior season with 70 catches for 1,162 yards and 14 TD. He helped Benjamin Russell HS make the first round of the Alabama state playoffs in 2024. His scouting report by 247Sports Gabe Brooks is very telling of his future.

"Evaluation echoes that of a luxury sports car: big, smooth, and powerful," Brooks wrote. "Plays with obvious horsepower, accompanied by some encouraging physical refinement and nuance in regards to fluidity and locomotion. Dominant in contested scenarios as a consistent high pointer who exploits significant physical advantages vs. smaller defenders. Owns an enormous catch radius that gives a QB a large target throughout the route tree. Immensely productive with huge receiving numbers and even some limited defensive reps.
"Excellent multi-sport profile that includes averaging a double-double in hoops, an Alabama 6A high jump silver medal (6-8), and a 21.74 200-meter rep. Size and track speed suggests that another top-end gear in pads exists, and therefore consistent downfield separation ability. Shows encouraging short-to-intermediate route snap and leveraging ability, especially considering size. Uniquely gifted pass-catching target with outstanding physical tools and athletic chops. Projects as a high-major impact player with traits that suggest long-term NFL Draft high-round potential."
Morgan is between Colorado, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and Georgia. He would give the Buffs an immediate boost in next year's class and a top target for Julian Lewis.

Deion Sanders 'feeling well' but timing of return to Colorado campus unclear

Colorado football coach Deion Sanders has been away at his estate in Texas dealing with an unspecified health issue even as CU's annual slate of summer football camps got underway last week in Boulder. Sanders appeared at his CU summer camps in 2023 and 2024. Operating them is listed as one of the official duties in his employment contract with CU. His picture also is used by the university to advertise them. Advertisement But it's unclear when Sanders is returning to Boulder. On Sunday, his eldest son Deion Jr. appeared on a YouTube livestream from the family estate in Canyon, Texas, where he said his father was in his room and 'feeling well.' 'He'll tell y'all soon enough what he going through, what he went through,' Deion Jr. said on the livestream. He suggested that when they return to Boulder was open-ended. 'When we get back in Boulder, I don't know,' Deion Jr. said June 8. 'I'm waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I'll go. Until then, I'm gonna sit here with him.' He canceled because of an "unavoidable last-minute scheduling change," according to The Foundation for Sickle Cell Research, whose symposium had advertised Sanders as its keynote speaker. The foundation instead replaced him with NBA legend Magic Johnson. Advertisement In 2023, issues related to blood clots in Deion Sanders' legs led him to miss a Pac-12 Conference media event in Las Vegas. He has been accompanied in Texas by CU athletic trainer Lauren Askevold, who has helped him with his legs since the issue got serious in 2021, including the amputation of two of his toes and the removal of the sides of his left calf. Sanders has been out of the media spotlight since the NFL draft in April and suggested it was related to a health issue but didn't say what exactly. He mentioned it on a podcast with former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel in late May. 'I hope you're feeling better,' Samuel said to Sanders. Samuel then asked him if he ever tried fasting. Sanders responded by saying 'what I'm dealing with right now is at whole nother level' but said he's coming back after losing about 14 pounds. Advertisement Last week, CU hosted separate camps for high school football players and eligible high school graduates. CU also is scheduled to host a youth football camp this week before a women's football clinic on Thursday. The university didn't immediately respond to a message asking if Sanders would be appearing at this week's camp activities. Colorado coach Deion Sanders making 'progress' with health issue

Colorado football coach Deion Sanders has made 'progress' as he battles back from an unspecified health issue and is moving around again outdoors, his son Deion Jr. said in a YouTube video posted Saturday. The video shows Sanders fishing at his estate in Texas with former Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter. Advertisement 'It's a beautiful thing,' Deion Sanders Jr. says in the video. 'Coach Prime back active, moving around. God is great. Not back active moving around, but it's progress.' Sanders Sr. has been away from his job in Colorado since April and did not attend Colorado's annual youth and high school camps in June, even though operating such camps is listed in his employment contract as one of his official duties. The timing of his return to campus remains unclear. This is usually a dead time of year for head coaches in college football, but he is due to make an appearance at a Big 12 Conference media event in Frisco, Texas, on July 9. The video showed him on a boat in a lake encouraging Hunter as the Jacksonville Jaguars rookie reels in a fish. Advertisement 'Bring him out,' Sanders tells Hunter. 'C'mon T. Hunter. There you go. T. Hunter!' Sanders, 57, previously said on social media June 11 that 'everything is OKAY' and that he would provide a full update upon his return to Colorado. "I'm excited to get back to Colorado to be at home with my staff, team & all associated to our program,' Sanders wrote on social media on June 11. Sanders also mentioned the issue on a podcast in late May with former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel. 'I hope you're feeling better,' Samuel said to Sanders. Samuel asked him if he ever tried fasting. Sanders responded by saying 'what I'm dealing with right now is at (a) whole nother level' but said he's coming back after losing about 14 pounds.
