Emmerdale and Coronation Street face major changes

Peter Fincham was the former Director of Television at ITV before Kevin Lygo took over.
Fincham has suggested that, due to budget concerns at ITV, Emmerdale could move filming away from Yorkshire and merge production with Coronation Street in Manchester.
The ex-ITV boss has predicted that following the recent announcement of daytime changes at the broadcaster, it's likely executives are looking at similar measures for the two soaps.

Discussing the soaps on The TV Podcast, Fincham said: "You've got Coronation Street being made in Manchester, Emmerdale in Leeds.
'Could you imagine, rather like the daytime consolidation, that ITV will decide to have them both made in the same place under one umbrella? Big savings.
'You still keep Emmerdale set in Yorkshire, but it could be made in Manchester and Salford, which is a bigger hub for ITV.
'I don't think that's inconceivable — it might be being planned as we speak."
Emmerdale is currently made in north Leeds, while Coronation Street is mostly filmed in MediaCity in Salford.
As the ex-ITV boss adds: "The new hub for Coronation Street in Salford, it cost many, many millions of pounds and it was better facilities for all the people who worked on it in the old place in the middle of Manchester."

An ITV spokesperson said: "ITV has no plans to merge the productions of Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
"Both are uniquely set in Manchester and Leeds and that production model will continue for the long term.
"It's pure speculation to say otherwise."
The change follows news that ITV is making major changes to its daytime scheduling in 2026.
The overhaul will see Good Morning Britain (GMB) extended by half an hour from January 2026, while Lorraine Kelly's morning talk show will be reduced to 30 minutes for 30 weeks of the year.

At 37, Vicky isn't alone in her vaping woes; other celebs like Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway and musician Matt Willis have also opened up about their own struggles last year, according to Chronicle Live. Garraway revealed her own vaping journey, stating she had stopped before her stint on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! — only to find herself hooked once more. On Good Morning Britain, she shared: "The last thing I want to do is in any way sanction [vaping], because I don't now. But my experience was, after Billy was born, I did smoke before and I was craving going back to smoking [but] didn't want to. "I thought it was amazing, because it didn't smell, at that point you could do it anywhere, it must have been like smoking in the 70s — you didn't have to stand outside. Everybody said it was better for you, and I did feel much better. I got the nicotine hit." However, after her stint in the jungle, she confessed that she fell back into vaping — a habit reignited by a segment on Good Morning Britain. ‌ Kate said: "I think we had some props in here or something ridiculous, and I picked it up and I was instantly addicted — like, beyond anything! I couldn't believe it, and it made me realise how particularly those disposable ones are so addictive." In a similar struggle, Matt Willis opened up about his own issues with vaping during an appearance on the On The Mend podcast, where he recounted a telling-off he received from a pal during a round of golf for being covert about his habit — notably from his wife, Emma. Matt detailed the encounter, saying: "I try to live a very honest life. For instance, I was recently playing golf with a mate of mine, and he's in recovery, and I was vaping on the golf course, and he was like: 'Does your wife know you do that?'" ‌ He shared his response: "I was like, 'No, I only do it when I'm at golf and I do it when I'm with the band, so I don't do it at home or around the family.' So he was like, 'You lie about it.' I was like, 'I don't lie about it, I just don't talk about it.' He was like, 'So you're holding something from people, you're keeping a secret.'" Matt candidly opened up about his vaping habit, confessing that he'd often sneak in puffs both during the day and at peculiar hours of the night. He detailed: "Before I knew it, I was doing three to four a day of these disposable vapes. I was even doing it on stage. I was walking to the back of the stage and vaping, thinking no one could see me." He added: "I'd wake up in the middle of the night and go for a wee and vape in the toilet in my hotel room on my own and then go try and get back to sleep." The 34-year-old hosts ITV documentary series The Price of Perfection, in which she discusses the issues around cosmetic surgery and aesthetic enhancements. Olivia herself paid £3,000 for a boob job at the age of 20, but later paid around £10,000 to have them removed and smaller ones implanted. Her comments about the Kardashians come after Kylie Jenner, 27, finally gave details to a follower on TikTok that she had a breast enhancement when she was 19. ‌ The star was questioned about her cleavage, to which she replied with the size, profile and even the name of her surgeon. It came after her mum, Kris Jenner, admitted she'd had a facelift. ‌ But Olivia said Kylie's confession was "too little, too late." She believes Kylie should be honest about the rest of her cosmetic procedures. She added that Kylie and her sisters' bodies "are not created in the gym." Olivia told the Sun: "Kylie came out and said about her boobs, and I was like: 'I've been talking about my breasts for the past 10 years.' I like the Kardashians, this is not me bashing them, but it's too little, too late for me." She went on to say how she feels the Kardashians should be transparent about all their procedures, because it's 'disingenuous' to pretend their looks aren't down to surgery. She continued: "We know Kylie's breasts are fake. "We knew she had lip fillers when she was selling those lip kits. What about talking about lipo and BBLs?," before saying she believes the Kardashians have had more work done. But although she has had breast augmentation more than once, Olivia revealed that a BBL is the one procedure she would steer clear of. Joking that she has a 'pancake bum', the presenter said: "BBL is the only one I wouldn't do, because the risk is too much. It's one of the surgeries that has the highest revision rate." ‌ A BBL, or Brazilian Butt Lift, is a procedure undertaken to change the size of their buttocks. Fat is removed to from other parts of the patient's body, including the belly, hops and back, then injected back into the buttocks. It's one of the surgeries Olivia covers in an episode in the first series of The Price of Perfection. She said of the second season: 'We touched on brand new subjects. There's just so many different avenues that you can cover, and each one is an education in itself.' During the BBL episode, she wants to film a 360 liposuction and BBL procedure, which is performed on a woman named Scarlett. But Olivia feared the worst during the scenes in Turkey, when the crew were told they weren't allowed to record the full treatment after all. ‌ Speaking about the decision, Olivia said: "They did change their mind at the absolute final hour, so we just told that story and it's in its truthfulness." She added: "It was awful. A lot goes into planning these shoots for my team and I. But I was thinking, 'this is a massive red flag. Why have they suddenly changed their mind?'"
