Another Popular WWE Veteran Expected to Leave Company originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
It appears another popular star on WWE TV will soon be departing the company.
Fans were stunned after R-Truth revealed WWE has decided not to renew his contract. The news has reportedly been met with overwhelming negativity. Some internally believed that R-Truth was a "WWE lifer," but the decision makers clearly thought otherwise.

R-Truth won't be alone, it seems. PWInsider is reporting that Carlito also isn't expected to have his deal renewed. Carlito is currently a member of The Judgment Day faction on "WWE Raw." While Carlito isn't involved in marquee singles programs, he has served as a bit of a comic relief character in the group.

Carlito captured the WWC Puerto Rico Championship on Saturday during "WWC Summer Madness." While many fans believed it could lead to Carlito wearing championship gold on Monday Nights, few expected to hear the news that The Judgment Day member won't be sticking around for much longer.
At this time, the expiration date of Carlito's contract is unknown. Carlito first joined WWE through Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2003. He made his main roster debut the following year, defeating John Cena for the WWE United States Championship.

Carlito remained with the company until his release in 2010. The Puerto Rican veteran returned to WWC and performed on the independent scene before making sporadic appearances for WWE in 2021.
At "WWE Backlash 2023," Carlito made a surprise appearance to help music star Bad Bunny and members of the LWO faction. He signed a full-time deal with WWE soon after.

Panthers' Sam Bennett Reportedly Rules Out Division Rival as Free Agency Option

Panthers' Sam Bennett Reportedly Rules Out Division Rival as Free Agency Option originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett is poised to be one of the most sought-after players on the market this summer. Advertisement Bennett is coming off a breakout season in which he scored 51 points in 76 regular-season games, capping it up with a dominant playoff run in which he scored 15 goals and helped the Panthers win back-to-back Stanley Cups. After completing his four-year, $17.7 million contract, Bennett will enter unrestricted free agency on July 1, barring an agreement for a contract extension with Florida before that date. According to NHL insider Andy Strickland, however, the Conn Smythe-winning forward has no plans to sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs if he gets to market. 'Hearing Toronto will not be on Sam Bennett's list of free agent destinations, if unable to come to terms with Florida and he becomes a UFA,' Strickland reported on X. Advertisement Despite being a Toronto-area native and linked to the Leafs in recent rumors, Bennett appears uninterested in returning home, and perhaps not even to his nation at all. Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett has reportedly ruled out signing with any Canadian Hamilton-Imagn Images Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects acknowledged that while Bennett returning to Florida is far from a fait accompli, the forward has ruled out signing with a Canadian franchise. "Lots of speculations that Sam Bennett re-signing in FLA is a foregone conclusion," Robinson wrote on X. "But I'm told the two sides haven't talked extension in weeks. Teams continue to prepare sizeable offers should he make it to July 1st. Appears his preference is to stay in USA." Advertisement Daily Faceoff projects Bennett to sign a six-year, $38.4 million deal during the offseason, with an annual cap hit of $6.4 million. Cowboys' Dak Prescott Already Subject Of Odd Training Camp Criticism

Cowboys' Dak Prescott Already Subject Of Odd Training Camp Criticism originally appeared on Athlon Sports. We have officially finished the underwear Olympics, my friends, and the Dallas Cowboys are now on break until next month, when training camp will begin. Advertisement There will be a host of things to keep an eye on with the run game, defensive line, Micah Parsons' contract extension, but perhaps one might take precedence. Dak Prescott and George Pickens' chemistry. Already off to a good start at OTAs and minicamp, and yes, that counts for nothing, but do that at training camp? Now we're talking. For Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox, training camp might be where Pickens helps Dak justify his monster contract. 'The arrival of Pickens, who was acquired in a post-draft trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers, is part of the reason we're excited to see Prescott in camp," Knox writes. "He should complement top target CeeDee Lamb and help open things up in the passing game. Advertisement "How will Prescott look in camp with a new system and a new perimeter playmaker? Hopefully good enough to justify the massive four-year, $240 million extension he signed last September." Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (4) runs the ball against the Atlanta Falcons in the second quarter at Mercedes-Benz Davis-Imagn Images Hmm. Right. In all honesty, Dak could throw 500 touchdowns to Pickens while in Oxnard, and that won't justify his contract in July. One thing would - a Super Bowl win. But we get it. Having Pickens in the lineup alongside CeeDee Lamb, that gives Prescott two serious weapons, and both could make Dak a better quarterback and go some way to justifying his money if things pan out well. Granted, finishing second in MVP voting in 2023 was forgotten rather quickly by the masses, and nothing at training camp will alter the narrative around Prescott. Advertisement The only needle mover is true contention for a Super Bowl, which, with the addition of Pickens, while still a long shot, has Dallas far closer than it was six months ago. Former Packers Midseason Steal Delivers Blunt Message About Possible Reunion

Former Packers Midseason Steal Delivers Blunt Message About Possible Reunion originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Rasul Douglas quickly became a fan favorite in Green Bay after the Packers signed him off the Arizona Cardinals practice squad in October 2021. His first signature moment came in Week 8 when he intercepted Kyler Murray on the final play of the game to seal a road win over the then-undefeated Cardinals. Advertisement Douglas went on to record a career-high five interceptions that year, followed by four more in 2022. He opened the 2023 season as a starter in Green Bay's secondary but was traded midseason to the Buffalo Bills, where he finished the 2023 campaign and played through the 2024 season. The former Packers cornerback is currently a free agent. With Green Bay thin on depth at the position, adding an experienced player like Douglas could make sense as a reunion. When asked, Douglas weighed in on the possibility, giving a measured and straightforward response. Former Green Bay Packers CB Rasul Douglas (29) celebrates after intercepting the football during the fourth quarter against the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium© Sam Navarro-Imagn Images 'Don't think that will happen buddy,' Douglas wrote in a post on X. Another fan said that he hopes Douglas will return to Green Bay, and the former Green Bay Packer responded with a funny comment. Advertisement "They got Bo melton," Douglas wrote. Douglas is referring to the cornerback experiment Green Bay conducted with wide receiver Bo Melton during mandatory minicamp. The Packers added Nate Hobbs via free agency and Micah Robinson in the draft. However, the Melton experiment shows they are still exploring solutions for the secondary—even if it is only for emergency depth. The Packers better hope that Nate Hobbs, Keisean Nixon, and Carrington Valentine can stay healthy this season because if any of them go down, the cornerback group will be even thinner than it already is. The few moves Green Bay made to improve their cornerback room suggest a belief in internal growth and a strong trust in Jeff Hafley's ability to develop talent from within. Advertisement Still, the NFL can be an unpredictable business sometimes, and while Douglas has his reasons to doubt a reunion, a midseason return could make sense—especially given his familiarity with the system, his experience under Matt LaFleur, and the connections he already has on the defense.
